    God I wish I'd learned switch right away! For whatever reason I procrastinated,.. thought it was too above my skill. Waited my whole skateboarding career in my youth.
    I'm back at it now, and I'm prioritizing learning switch. 42 years old this summer and I'm landing 2 out of 5 switch flip. They're looking better than my regular kickflip 👍🏽

    I always sucked at nollies, but now they feel just fine. My breakthrough was learning them on a snowboard. One season about 10 years ago or so i decided to try them on snow and found that after a few sessions i was able to effectively translate it back to skating, i just stepped on my board and they were no big deal. I'd suggest if you've got a snowboard, strap it on and practice on carpet popping nollies and get a feel for loading up the nose of the board and popping. For me it made skate nollies a lot easier and i was finally able to actually nollie up and over stuff, into grinds, slides, and manuals, and even nollie heelfips were no big deal on a skateboard after practicing/parkriding on snow.

    Also if you get fakie ollies down it means you can switch nollie, if you can switch nollie you now have the mechanics for nollies as a reference. It won’t help you in anyway do a nollie in your usual stance but at least now you can see how nollies work on your own feet.

    • @jaanusjoller4138
      @jaanusjoller4138 Před 5 lety +1

      A good way to get to know doubleflips at first, is to flip them not so much from the corner of the nose like a kickflip, but more downwards, towards the ground (maybe near where the bolts end?). Also give the board just a bit more time to go vertical before the flick, so it doesn't slam the ground. It also helps to really let the ankle bend before the flick. Once you get the feel of it, you can kickflipify them more and get some height and steeze, but it's a good staing point. When you get the feel of it, it becomes as easy as a kickflip, if not even more.

    • @ProjectASkate
      @ProjectASkate Před 5 lety

      easy... keep your back foot at the bottom pocket and the front foot point straight up to the nose of the board, pop it hard and jump higher while at it flick straight forward as hard as enough to double flip it. when ya see the grip stomp it.
