This time I would like to show you how I'm making leather hat from Oak Leatehrcraft pattern.

In this video I'm making leather leather hat created by Oak Leathercraft.
I made this cap from 2.4mm/ 5.5 oz and 1.2mm / 3 oz leather.
Patterns and hats available in many sizes.
To make this hat I used to Dye Fiebing's Professional walnut colour leather dye.

I love it! If I make one, I'd add a stainless wire to the brim to help hold the hats shape at the edge of the brim.

You can add but not very thick wire because strap around the bream is norrow and designed for bream without the wire.
I used dry vegetable leather and my hats don't need wire.
@@oakleathercraft how could I finish this so sweat and humidity (I live in florida) wouldn’t ruin it?

I may make this hat. What do you do on the inside, to make it more conferrable for a head band?
I have seen someone add a strip of veg tan leather for the inside of brim for your forehead.

Is a 2’ by 2’ piece of leather big enough to trace the template for the brim on
To make a brim in the bigest size of hat, you need piece of leather approx. 13" x 17" (inch) so for sure 2 x 2 foot will be enough.

How do I reshape a wonderful hat like this one?
To reshape a leather crown it has to be wet and then formed on a block.

Why didn’t you put wire in brim? It would facilitate shaping!
This project no need wire.
The brim is very narrow in the middle of hat and shaping is very easy without wire.
This is pretty sick. But how could I finish this so that sweat and the elements would not ruin it?
Resolene is what i use for finishing leather goods that need more protection.
