Peep that 7th place though 32:02 👀
Not sure it's fair to post weekly challenge videos while they are still live if they have a mystery upgrade. Easier to have a smoother run knowing not to pick the left (traffic light) option by default.
The correct option is clearly the right upgrade every time.
I will not crumble in the face of these demands for choosing the right option >:(
ok maybe I will, but only for science
Right is always right. You need to give up on left
Two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left. Embrace left as the true right option >:) Might try a run with just right as an option, or retest left to see if the run's prizes are seeded with the challenge like the map is!
The game just wanted you to use traffic lights now that they have been buffed.
They are definitely better than motorways /s
I'm so flipping happy that I got 1st on this one. Granted, I'm probably going to be overthrown soon, but I'll savor the moment regardless. thank you for the gameplay tips!
What's your score? How high do I have to go to dethrone you? :^)
@@Retroflux currently sitting at 6,738!
Edit : Scratch that, now it's 7,462!
If you had picked the right option every time you would have about 317 motorways by now 😂
really well played though, love your videos
I got my best score in a while in this challenge, but the weekly mystery thing really gets to me lol not being able to know what I'll get makes me very anxious.
Don't let random choices freak you out - just make a rule for yourself like, "right is right". If you can set rules up to handle random events, it just becomes, "huh neat, more traffic lights". The act of choice in random, independent events is just human anxiety taking control :p Stomp it by always choosing right :)
The vocal despair at @29:15 hahahaha.
You can hear me slowly retreating from the microphone hahahaha
@@Retroflux hahahha. To be fair I also did the challenge and got about 50 billion traffic lights as well. The game is a harsh mistress
Right at the end, I think you caused the red problem by connecting 2 red houses separately to the middle of the road between the big red neighbourhood and the red destinations. It created to big slow down points, which you can see are traffic heavy. If you had made it a single connection with a traffic light I think you could have survived longer
Retro is the best mini motorways CZcamsr. Maybe better in other things too, but I'm not interested in other things. Just mini motorways and retro. And food. I like food.
Food is bae, but can it induce nine levels of anxiety and three aneurysms in less than one hour like Mini Motorways can? Sadly, no. :'(
@@Retroflux maybe if your a chef, and lots of butter.
I haven't played mini motorways. I don't go on my PC. Watching you play is peaceful. Thank you for having aneurysms. I appreciate it, damnit.
@@Retroflux I had to look up how to spell aneurism
And I still spelled it wrong.
Stunning video!
Glad you liked it!
Nice work. I only got two motorways and got 2,771 this morning. Was riddled with extra traffic lights as well.
Not bad! Gonna try for a better score, or wait till next week? Mystery rounds aren't the most fun challenge, but the other two were pretty nice.
@@Retroflux I might on Thursday when I will have more time. Working full-time and going to school means I only get in one game on the average day at best.
27:14 Your mouse is right over a red house thats unconnected to the road. It was a recent spawn. You finally get in the timelapse.
Also I think its better to always pick right. Isnt it more common to have the motorway spawn on the right? Maybe play through a regular LA game and count? Or rewatch your 10K game
Red and yellow were having a moment, I didn't want to disturb them (Translation: oops I'm blind)
I was thinking I've usually seen motorways on the right pick as well. Could just be confirmation bias, though.
cant believe you dont have >100k subs
87K more to go 👀
Motorways are so frustrating. If you delete one by accident you are screwed. It takes ages to get it back. There should be a ctrl+z option
I try to keep one motorway in reserve for this reason - You can immediately rebuild a motorway if you have one in reserve (kind of like roundabouts deletion/insertion), and then you can always use the extra one to inject distant cars to struggling populations on the fly.
@@Retroflux Thanks that is a helpfull tip. Now i only need to sacrifize 10 goats to the gods to give me enough luck so i can have a motorway in reserve :D
I will still try it the next few runs. Maybe it is easier than i think
Is there actually a repitition with mystery upgrades for this run? It seems like everytime you choose left its always traffic lights. Im thinking mystery upgrades might not be a mystery. Nice gameplay 😊
Just double checked - there seems to be something internal within the game (similar to spawn locations) that is also used to calculate mystery rewards. Choosing left always didn't yield the same rewards for me as it did during my first playthrough - as soon as I started deviating from my previous game the rewards changed. This is just one data point, but I'd wager it's pseudo-random
Nice one. Got 3514 on my first go. This is a fun one.
I recently got into this game and I have to say the troll spawns are a bit too much. It makes me feel the need to constantly pause and block everything to have any chance, which is unfun. The occasional difficult spawn adds challenge that is fun, but not when every building tries to take the worst possible place. I have tried playing with limited pausing and no blocking and the best I've ever done is like 2500, which I get fairly often, but then run into a hard cap. Do others feel this way or am I just bad?
You learn to prep for them out deal with them 🙂 I tend to just make double-wide roads in front of destinations, then I can have a city primed for future growth! I've you learn the colour mask for a city, that helps a lot too, since then you can plan ahead!
@@Retroflux are those maps available anywhere? The biggest problem I have are the houses more than destinations. Rather than decent clusters I end up with 2 or 3 houses at a time scattered on opposite sides of the map and even with motorways the lag time is too much once the demand curve gets higher. Maybe I am accidentally blocking areas they or their same color stores are supposed to spawn in...
Blind picks are the worst in this game. I stick to only picking left as well and yeesh, just give me one option so I know what I'm working with.
Last time they gave us one option, nobody got past week 4 LOL
I got 300 less than your score BUT i only got 1 motorway
You mad lad
I'm so sad, every time I get a score past like 2500 my laptop always crashes and I lose my progress and will to live 💔
D:
Check the leaderboard, I am 3rd as of 6.10.21
I barely beat your score lol I got 3233
OOF, I will have to try again
You're using roads to block tiles that are adjacent to destinations. This is a waste. Unless you have the challenge modifier that explicitly makes those tiles spawnable, stuff cannot spawn there.
But did it work, and was there loss caused by it? Nope, so there's no issue in being sloppy about it. With 100+ roads in the bank, I see no reason to waste roads on non-spawnable tiles
@@Retroflux Sure, but at the time you were actively trying to optimize the spawn pattern, so it makes sense to point it out, no?
If you want to prevent spawning, then you don't need to block the adjacent tiles. Conversely, if you want to encourage spawning, then placing your roads in the adjacent tiles leaves more room for stuff to spawn.
right side comment +1
Grand theft auto 5
Huh, funny. The game hates me too!
It's an epidemic of hate!
