A detailed look at Sauromatum venosum

A detailed look at a flowering Sauromatum venosum inclusive lots of flies ;)
The flower emits a strong odor reminiscent of carrion to attract flies, its main pollinator.
The main reason I got these plants in the garden is because of the leaves, which appear after flowering. The leaves are beautiful and really exotic and last long.

Wat is de beste standplaats volgens jou in de tuin? Echt waanzinnig blad!
Ik heb een klein plantje gekregen en ik twijfel waar en wanneer te planten.

Beste standplaats is half schaduw waarbij ze uit de hete middag zon staan. Volle zon kan ook, maar dan genoeg water geven. Wat ik ook altijd doe is het grote blad ondersteunen zodat het niet op de grond hangt. Zo blijft het blad vaak tot ver in de herfst goed.

Kunnen de knollen tijdens de winter in grond blijven als je ze bedekt met schors?

Had bulbs planten out in april...didn't see any bulb germinate unfortunately. Hopefully next year

It's still possible. They are very hardy and strong bulbs.
