The strength to make these choices lies within, emphasizing the importance of intellectual development and self-responsibility.
Key Insights:
Two Paths: There are two paths in life: the noble path (shreyas) and the pleasant path (preyas). The noble path leads to long-term benefits, while the pleasant path offers short-term gratification.
Constant Choice: At every moment, individuals face choices between these two paths, requiring constant judgment and decision-making.
Human Nature: The average person often succumbs to sensory pleasures and immediate desires, favoring the pleasant path.
Higher Values: Intelligent and discriminative individuals consistently choose the noble path, living up to higher values and convictions.
Freedom of Choice: Despite past habits and tendencies, individuals possess the strength to resist temptations and make better choices.
Self-Responsibility: Taking responsibility for one’s life involves making choices based on intellect and higher values, rather than succumbing to impulses and instincts.
Consequences of Actions: Indulging in immediate pleasures can lead to suffering and health issues.

Hailed as the second Swami Vivekananda, Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda (1916-1993) is an orator, writer and leader par excellence, a patriot and spiritual giant, one of the finest representatives of Indian spiritual heritage who spearheaded a global Hindu spiritual and cultural renaissance that popularised the religion's esoteric scriptural texts, teaching them in English all across India and abroad.
