Jose Mourinho is one of very few coaches in football able to earn the highest wages and dictate his contractual terms.
This means even when his teams are underperforming he is still at an advantage contractually.
So with Tottenham Hotspur consistently underperforming since Mourinho’s arrival does it make economic sense to part ways with the Portuguese?
Alex Stewart explains, Joe Lally illustrates.

    • @JTH896
      @JTH896 Před 3 lety +51

I think this misses the problem that spurs fans have entirely.
I am a lifelong spurs fan and we have no problem with building. We have always had a transfer policy of bringing in young players to develop over time instead of proven talent. We also historically (until recently) have had a strong record of bringing through academy prospects.
The reason José has lost a lot of support in north London is that performances are so dire. For the first time ever I don’t look forward to the weekends match, I just don’t care anymore because the performance will be shocking and the atmosphere around the club is so toxic. From what I have heard from fellow fans, this is a common theme. It’s been 2 seasons now and all we’ve done is gone backwards.
After every match now I say the exact same thing “I wish I could have the last 2 hours of my life back”.

Everyone likes to talk about how Mourinho has failed, but more fingers need to be pointed at the board.
    How do you go from:
prime Vertonghen- Alderweireld at CB, Walker at RB, Dembele in midfield and Eriksen creating chances.
To Dier & Sanchez, and relying on Kane to be both your chief creator and finisher??
Other than Walker, none of their players were sold at even remotely close to fair value, nor were they adequately replaced. As a neutral, it wasnt hard to see that their side desperately needed a rebuild after 2018/19, and it sucks that Kane's prime is being wasted

Sacking him won't solve anything if Daniel Levy won't back the next manager to clear out the deadwood. It will just be another cycle again coz most of the players that José wants to get rid of are the same players that Poch wanted to sell in the beginning of his last tenure at Spurs and bring in new players as he expected to be challenging for the League title that season(2019/20). Talking about Spurs, this is Mourinho's first full season at the club and the club looked really good for the first half of the season. Yes, Pochettino was in the Champions League finale but he was also the same coach who had them just over the relegation zone just months after.
Jose Mourinho has Spurs in the Carbao Cup finale which, if they win it would be considered a successful season for Spurs but it will still remain one of Mourinho's worst season.
It took Jurgen Klopp 5 season to win the Premier League, and 4 season to win the Champions League. But since Mourinho has known to bring instant success to any club he has went to (Porto, Inter and Real), people are expecting the same kind of success with a team like Spurs which is the worst team Mourinho has ever coached in the past 15 years.

Good video, football fans are in Lehman’s terms fickle & expect a sacking of a manager to be as a easy as in real life, but it’s not. Personally I can’t see him going this season, Levy wouldn’t want to pay such a hefty payout considering if there’s no European finances coming in & we’ll be a strict sell to buy transfer policy. Still, stranger things have happened

This was a really strange season for all different reasons and we have seen PL table and matches, being very unpredictable after every game week. Sacking Mourinho would be definitely a big mistake. Yes, his team has underperformed but we can't deny the fact that some of the Spurs players also have to share the blame and responsibilities for a poor form in key matches.
I do hope, they don't sack Mourinho. He is Tottenham's best bet to win a silverware in a very long time. And, I am saying this as a Liverpool fan.
