Jose Mourinho is one of very few coaches in football able to earn the highest wages and dictate his contractual terms.
This means even when his teams are underperforming he is still at an advantage contractually.
So with Tottenham Hotspur consistently underperforming since Mourinho’s arrival does it make economic sense to part ways with the Portuguese?
Alex Stewart explains, Joe Lally illustrates.

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
He's also a father, I think.
Spursy is spursy
The problem with current Premier League clubs and their fans is that they want instant success they can't wait for a manager to build a team that would suit he's playing style, it took jurgen klopp 5 seasons to win his first Premier League title.
yep
Fans are actually calling for Jurgen to be sacked
Liverpool could point at progression after every season.
With Mourinho Tottenham have been in a steady decline.
You do realize that Klopp reached the europa league final in his 1st season and qualified for the champions league ever since his second season right? Not to mention reaching the champs league final and finishing 2nd in the league. It's not the same as finishing outside the top 4 two seasons in a row
I think this misses the problem that spurs fans have entirely.
I am a lifelong spurs fan and we have no problem with building. We have always had a transfer policy of bringing in young players to develop over time instead of proven talent. We also historically (until recently) have had a strong record of bringing through academy prospects.
The reason José has lost a lot of support in north London is that performances are so dire. For the first time ever I don’t look forward to the weekends match, I just don’t care anymore because the performance will be shocking and the atmosphere around the club is so toxic. From what I have heard from fellow fans, this is a common theme. It’s been 2 seasons now and all we’ve done is gone backwards.
After every match now I say the exact same thing “I wish I could have the last 2 hours of my life back”.
Cost of sacking Mourinho is way over 35 million pounds. Instead, Tifo suggest investing this money in buying Ivorian international Ibrahim Sangare.
Old and not funny anymore
cringe
I am a psv fan, and for 35 million I'll personally fly sangare to your house
@@tj1012 is he playing that bad?
Hahaha made my day
Everyone likes to talk about how Mourinho has failed, but more fingers need to be pointed at the board.
How do you go from:
prime Vertonghen- Alderweireld at CB, Walker at RB, Dembele in midfield and Eriksen creating chances.
To Dier & Sanchez, and relying on Kane to be both your chief creator and finisher??
Other than Walker, none of their players were sold at even remotely close to fair value, nor were they adequately replaced. As a neutral, it wasnt hard to see that their side desperately needed a rebuild after 2018/19, and it sucks that Kane's prime is being wasted
Exactly this, for someone like Spurs who have been quite astute in the main with financial terms, how the absolute fuck did they go for Mourinho
Not to mention, they didn't exactly replace Walker or use the money they sold him for, wisely
@@keislayzell9255 same as when Modric was sold, Carrick, Berbatov, Bale, Dembele....🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
You go from that defence because players prime doesnt last forever, I accept 50 mill for Kyle Walker
U go from that midfield as dembele was injury prone and eriksen wanted a new challenge.
@@keislayzell9255 Simple, Levy wanted a proven successful manager to manage an average Spurs because Levy don't intend to invest more on quality players in the transfer windows. Now that Levy has decided to join ESL which guarantees a healthy profits, without the fear of missing out on European football, investing in an experience but expensive manager is no more a necessity.
Sacking him won't solve anything if Daniel Levy won't back the next manager to clear out the deadwood. It will just be another cycle again coz most of the players that José wants to get rid of are the same players that Poch wanted to sell in the beginning of his last tenure at Spurs and bring in new players as he expected to be challenging for the League title that season(2019/20). José needs proper defenders, and even the next manager will need proper defenders as well.
not even a spurs fans and i agree
I'm a Mourinho fan and I agree
So it was insane to sack Poch in the first place.
Really miss presence of leader like vertonghen
People made fun of Mourinho for saying "same manager, different players" but it's true. The only truly world class player is flourishsing under Mou, although it is hard to say how much of that is due to Mou.

@@sehajmahajan4683 are you deluded
Just in time. 72hrs after Tifo comes up with this, Jose is sacked
It's gonna be a difficult decision. We know what Mourinho can achieve with like-minded players; but it's becoming harder to find players with his mentality in this generation.
Mourinho sucks eggs now. He has too big ego. Players generally hate him they hate his style of management
He has managed some of the weak clubs in the past few years with weak players and a board either financially weak or a board that does not know what to do.
If Mourinho managed a team like City and Liverpool then the story would have been alot different.
@@samizayn5666 I'm a fan of Mourinho; but I wouldn't say Man United or Spurs were weak teams. I mean they clearly underperformed under Mourinho, with continuous questions about locker room chemistry.
@@ombrahmbhatt2432 NO CHANCE Spurs are in decline
@@gunmuratilban8667 Manchester United finished 2nd under Mourinho, and looking at that team that is a huge achievement. Mourinho won United the Europa League, which they failed to win last season.
Talking about Spurs, this is Mourinho's first full season at the club and the club looked really good for the first half of the season. Yes, Pochettino was in the Champions League finale but he was also the same coach who had them just over the relegation zone just months after.
Jose Mourinho has Spurs in the Carbao Cup finale which, if they win it would be considered a successful season for Spurs but it will still remain one of Mourinho's worst season.
It took Jurgen Klopp 5 season to win the Premier League, and 4 season to win the Champions League. But since Mourinho has known to bring instant success to any club he has went to (Porto, Inter and Real), people are expecting the same kind of success with a team like Spurs which is the worst team Mourinho has ever coached in the past 15 years.
Tottenham only recently started to make UCL and hasn’t won a trophy in decades, and they did it with a generation of academy and scouting talent that is either outgrowing or aged past what Tottenham can offer
Decades? 2008
TL;DR - it will cost Spurs £30m to sack Jose due to clauses and obligations in his contract
And now he’s gone..... we not exactly scint!
this didn’t age well 😭
thank you jose! you took us to a cup final and more. we spurs fans love you and will miss you. all the best

Quoting the man himself "Specialist in failure" -- and I'm loving every minute of it. Watching him drain the spirit of any club he seems to join during last 5 years (y).
And what is this love of "he doesn't get backing" or his complaints "same manager, different players" -- how about trying to make the best of what you got instead?
I understand arrogance when you got skills to pay the bills, but one cannot expect ride on past merits forever.
It is so easy to call others 'Specialist in failure' when they are having a bad time and you have that sweet Russian oil money by your side. Mourinho deserves every bit of hate he gets.

Mourinho has to be the most disrespected manager ever. But I know the special one will prove his haters wrong sooner than later. Once a winner always a winner.
True
He will thrash pep 12-2 in the cup final
Good video, football fans are in Lehman’s terms fickle & expect a sacking of a manager to be as a easy as in real life, but it’s not. Personally I can’t see him going this season, Levy wouldn’t want to pay such a hefty payout considering if there’s no European finances coming in & we’ll be a strict sell to buy transfer policy. Still, stranger things have happened
Tottenham were unsure about sacking Mourinho until Tifo broke it down for them 😭
Mourinho could had commission this video just to convince Levy to sack him.

Remember when Jose Mourinho was called the greatest manager after he reached the top of the table for a week or so. oh, how the time flies so quickly.
In conclusion: Mourinho is trying to get sacked so he can get a pay off for nothing!
He'll win the league cup first so he has a trophy at Spurs (an incredibly rare feat!) and then push to get a pay-off. I guarantee it. Spurs 1-0 in the final, btw.

This was a really strange season for all different reasons and we have seen PL table and matches, being very unpredictable after every game week. Sacking Mourinho would be definitely a big mistake. Yes, his team has underperformed but we can't deny the fact that some of the Spurs players also have to share the blame and responsibilities for a poor form in key matches.
I do hope, they don't sack Mourinho. He is Tottenham's best bet to win a silverware in a very long time. And, I am saying this as a Liverpool fan.

I can’t really see what club would take Mourinho on if he were to leave spurs. Most of the clubs that have the financials to do it already have relatively successful managers in place, maybe chinese league
French league, mate, those frenchies fancy him. Last time he got offers from Lyon, Monaco & other undisclosed club.
Probably go back to Portugal
Portuguese national team. He won’t have any excuse due to the current talent pool, even in defense with Ruben Dias, and if he wins some trophy he’ll be back on top of the game.
