  • In the final part of his indie rock production in Cubase tutorials, Stevie B looks at mixing and mastering your song using the plug-ins included in Cubase. After doing some final pre-mix tweaks, the video looks at using plug-ins like EQ, compression, some tube saturation, distortion and reverb, then putting final touches to the stereo mix with the imager and limiter.
We hope you find this video entertaining and useful. If you like what you see, please leave a comment and tell us what you think.

It's all about quick decision making. I love the conviction when you just wipe the acoustic guitar out. Mind you I tend to mute/disable tracks until the bitter end just in case.

correct, you don´t need thirdparty like Ozone...
Cubase has absolutely great professional effects like Raiser, Squasher, Magneto, Multiband Stereo Imager, Frequency Dyn EQ etc. and other tools for mastering. great vid!

So basically I don't need to spend my savings on Izotope, Ozone, serum etc, Cubase stock plugins and vsts are enough?

I appreciate the effort done to deliver this series and I did follow the whole thing and got a few new ideas so thanks Steinberg and Stevie B, however I have some feedback regarding this part of the series.
Honestly I'm a bit dissapointed from how Stevie boosted "the snap of the snare" without explaining that this EQ will affect every element of the kit. Why not using the multiple outputs Groove Agent provides? I reckon this is the best practice.
Also, No A/B referencing after mixing steps such as Vintage Compressor for example on the Stereo Out.
Looking forward to the next series!

Using nothing but Steinberg plugins.. he said that like those plug-ins aren't grade A+ as is. 1 thing Cubase has over the other DAWs is the stock plug-ins being freaking so nice. Been using FL Studio since Fruity Loops 3. And I did the Cubase pro trial and was hooked, all that on top of the Browser, and the mixer, is so much better.
