  • On 11 April 1997, ITN’s Richard Lindley spent the day on the campaign trail with Labour Party deputy leader John Prescott. Welcomed into Prescott’s room at the Forte Posthouse Grimsby, Lindley watched the longtime Member of Parliament for Kingston upon Hull East as he, together with his team, listened to Michael Heseltine being interviewed on Radio Four, taking notes all the way. Prescott himself then sat for a brief interview with Richard Lindley, who asked him how he felt being the man chosen to get the New Labour across to the regions. Cameras then filmed Prescott on the phone with Labour leader Tony Blair, before following him to a campaign event at the Birds Eye factory in Grimsby.

You can tell Angela Rayner is heavily influenced by Prescott. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Your typical 'socialist'. Fights the 'establishment' until they get invited in to it. An opponent of the House of Lords when it helped his class struggle.....then becomes a Lord himself.
