That’s the goal for me towards retirement. Start off as a patrolman, when I get older I want a simpler job that revolves around teaching. Just like this man
Dependent on where you live and the department you might not even have to be old. My dad did it for DOC for years while he was a probation and parole officer. Also did hand to hand instruction when he was younger. Its interesting the number of ways they are taught to get you on the ground with your hands available for cuffs.
God Bless these Police Officers. I know those officers don't ever want to use deadly force unless they have no other option.

I heard this twice in this video; "Have never carried/fired a gun." And all I see is shooting at a paper target. Not combat engagement with a suspect.

@@comp20BYes. It’s called simunition and they often use it in the academy. It’s a soft projectile fired out of a standard weapon, it’s like paintball but a lot more painful.

Policing in America would be nonexistent if they did not carry guns. America is not like the UK where guns are essentially impossible to get. There is such a thing as black market guns and straw purchases in the USA (where felons buy guns through clear background people). Besides, in order to effectively enforce the law, police need to have an equalizer to prevent criminals from thinking they can beat up a cop and get away with it. I believe police all around the world need to carry guns. Policing in the UK has worked without guns for a while because of the fact that the UK isn't generally a violent country and access to guns is pretty much non-existent. However, there are still special police forces who are armed in the UK, for circumstances where unarmed police aren't cutting it.
