Cambridge October Vlog | Girton College Garden Walk & Halloween 2020 🎃🍂

IT'S OCTOBER, which means 2 things - apples and halloween!
It was the Autumn apple harvesting season at Girton!🍎 Keeping Covid-19 safe distancing measures in mind, we went on guided walk around Girton's beautiful grounds, led by the college gardeners 👨🏼‍🌾💚 For Halloween, we participated in the Girton Halloween Hunt (which was very cute!!) and partied as extraterrestrials at Cindies, a popular nightclub in Cambridge (my first night out!) ⚡️👽

Oh, that is SO kind and lovely! Well, to put you in the picture, I have 4 grown up children of my own, who have been through university & who are now all working in London. I am in Edinburgh, where I brought them all up and where I teach, but I am also going through bone marrow cancer, and now recovering from a bone marrow transplant, mid er pandemic, having to isolate (for 10 months now), and not being able even to hug any of my children! Or have any of them to stay with me, when they visit. But on the good side, I have LOTS and lots of time to read books and other interesting things now, which normally I wouldn't have had time for, and to do all sorts of research and to write to friends, and to have GOOD, long, meaningful conversations with people for whom life is usually too rushed to be able to do this. And in this way, I came across your blog here on youtube. Just to see you embrace your life and your opportunities, academic and otherwise, with such diligence and joy and focus and humility, and to have travelled geographically so far and with such courage, to do this, is very inspiring! Because it's people like you (and my own children too I hope) who represent such HOPE for the future of this world - despite the enormous challenges we're all facing just now. And that is why watching the stories you tell, through your videos, bring me real joy, genuine happiness and tangible hope!
