We (Derby) had him on loan whereby he helped us reach us reach the play off final '94 and in the semi's beat millwalll 5-1 over two legs, not easy, he was a masterclass at 35 all in his own time, used the ball so intelligently and rarely gave the ball away. Villa had the best of him no doubt and quite right as he loved them but was a top, top player..sad to hear that he is poorly and wish him true peace his life

Genius - loved this guy. Once played against him in Under 14's junior leagues - he was unbelievable! A pleasure to be completed humiliated!

Great bloke! He lived opposite us in The Spires, Boley Park Lichfield. He lived at no 10 which Barratt Homes bought for him for his 21st Birthday!
He'd occasionally have a kick about with us on the green which we all shared outside our houses when I was a kid!
His mrs had a right temper on her though . . . I'll say no more! 😮

I had a season ticket at Villa from 1979 to 2000. Sid was the best player I've ever seen- perfectly timed tackles before the knee injury, immaculate passing and the most extraordinary game intelligence.

    Cheers for everything Sid!
With Brian Little, the two best Villa players I ever saw.

Best player I've ever seen, shame his 30m screamer at Wolves (1978-ish) isn't available to see again

Legend! As a lifelong villa fan, I love this man. But Tony Morley is my all-time favourite. And Paul McGrath!

How England would have benefited from Clough taking over the post in 1977, men like Cowans, Hoddle and Devonshire would have been far bigger features of the England set late 1970s and early 1980s..

Incredibly two-footed. There's a video of a match against Sheff W in the Prem where he takes corners from both sides using left and right foot. Never seen anything like it.

I’ve only seen Ronaldo (Brazil) use both feet for corners when playing for Inter.
