I have decided in my 52nd year that this is the BEST BAND IN THE WORLD. I know, I know, there are so many, of all different genres, who can play faster, funkier, are more melodic etc. I listen to Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, Debussy etc etc. Also Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley and so on. Metallica, Matthew Good, Tito Puente, Brazillian Jazz. And yet I cant beat 480 east. And I cant believe how few people know them. Start with Rob deBoer on keys. He slides around the tempo (rubato) like Bill Evans. Tony Grace is amazing on percussion. So then I listened closely to the bass-- such accurate and cool lines and fills. Sax-- what closet was HE hiding in all my life? Guitar? So inventive, so rhythmically accurate, always right for the mood. And the sax too, always right. Rob just blows me away. Guys, I mean it. You are the best. You bring everything together in one package. I listened to one track done live in studio with a friend whose ears are even better than mine (I am a recording engineer) and she exclaimed: "MAN are they tight." Frightenly. I try to only listen to the best and right now I cant get enough of 480 e.

I think they don't get enough airplay on Watercolors channel on Sirius/XM radio. This is my favorite group of all the jazz I listen too. I have been a jazz lover for 23 years.
These guy are so artistic. They have a tallent band. They play well togather. Smooth jazz.

Four 80East is one of the tightest groups to perform. Noodle Soup always brings a smile to my face and makes me tap my feet. The beat is unbelievable. Great use of all the band members. I love it!

Four80East is an electro jazz ensemble from Toronto with Rob DeBoer (keyboards, bass and guitar) and Tony Grace (percussion); accompanied by various session musicians. Although Four80East began as a studio concept, they have evolved into a live act. Four80East's music is characterized by a distinctive melodic atmosphere; underpinned by a strong bass groove. They are featured on the 2007 compilation album, The Weather Channel Presents: The Best of Smooth Jazz.
I love these videos of them playing live at Sirius. I only wish that in this video they had more video of the drummer playing.

Best live version of Noodle Soup. JJ, Tim, and the musician playing the EWI just totally make it. Just finished watching the Mallorca Jazz Festival performance of 2019 and had to watch an encore of this video to finish the weekend off correctly. Thanks to Four80East for sharing your gifted talent with us.

Absolutely fantastic, got into their music in 2020 and is easily my favorite jazz group and instrumental group in general. Compiled all their albums together on a playlist because literally ALL of it is perfect. Amazing stuff.

This has to be the ultimate live version of this great song. Mesmeric + outstanding performance from all involved,have listened to this for ~12 months now - still very fresh . But an appeal to Four80East - do more of these live performance/rehearsals THIS is outstanding , your albums are fantastic BUT a live album of something including performances like this would be a winner imo
