    Ah!
    I have a Spode story!
Starting in the late 1970’s,my father would gift to my mom,a few pieces of Spode.
Over the many years, she built up a very impressive collection!
My brothers wife always admired this collection, being used every year.
Her birthday is December 25th,and you could just see it in her body language, she always kinda felt like second banana, you know?
So on the year of my brother and wife’s 20th anniversary, mom gave her the entire set of Spode!
    On her birthday.
    On Christmas Day.
I did my part, and hand washed the dishes,as we were eating upon them when mom announced the gifting!
    She cried🥰🥲

OK here I am 10 months later swooning over the fairy tale house yet again . I just can't help myself. This is a Linda Vater Christmas. Watching you describe all the memories on your gorgeous tablescape... then watching you refresh the floral arrangement warmed my heart. From that view, you can see the dining room with the charming beveled glass door, the sweet little round table draped with the country tablecloth, the kilim pillows on the leather Mom and Dad chairs... then the amazing green cabinets and stove with the red enamel colander hanging above. I drink in every little detail and have tried to emulate so many of these little touches in my home. This is pure home and cozy to me.

I also have those thumbprint glasses in green and red as well as the Christmas Tree Spode dishes which I have collected for nearly 40 years. I use traditional and vintage linens. This year I decided to give friends and godchildren tablecloths that fit their tables since I only have a round table and don't use the others. I also decided to give a six place setting of my Spode to a cousin who also collects it and whose family has grown a bit with all three kids being married. I feel like sharing my lovelies with those I love now when they can use and appreciate them is a gift for both of us.😇 Love your ideas. May need to rewind and watch, again.🌲

My mother, who passed in 2017 just 11 days shy of her 100th birthday❤️ started my sister and I on the classic Spode over 20 years ago as Christmas gifts. We continued gifting one another serving pieces, etc for years. Now that she has passed I received my mothers collection. I love using it every year and cherish the memories it brings. I do continue to add to my collection during my thrifting forays. Now my oldest daughter is interested so I’m passing my extras and doubles and thrifted pieces on to her a few pieces at a time. Thank you for this walk down memory lane. 😊

You always inspire me Linda and I’m one of your biggest fans. I grew up eating on paper plates as a kid. After watching your Christmas home tour last year, I treated myself to an entire set of Spode Christmas dishes this year! I took them into work and served my nursing team a holiday meal on them. Additionally, I plan to pack them up and they are going to Illinois with me for Christmas. I live in Florida. I want to serve my 85 year old mom and 95 year old dad Christmas dinner on them. My parents health has been declining so it will mean the world to me. They may not notice the dishes but I will always have the memory. Lots of love and best holiday wishes to you and Stewart and your families.❤

Linda, I love your channel. This post was so inspiring to me. I am 78, had the coronavirus in March 2020 and almost died. Have struggled with COVID LONGHAULERS ever since. I, like you, have always decorated my whole house In preparation for Christmas. But, not the last two Christmases.
This year, however, is going to be different because of your post! I still do not have a lot “in the tank”, as I like to say, but after watching your post, I could see what was possible for me this Christmas. I just want to say THANK YOU AND A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours.

Your creative display Christmas inspired table is getting me nostalgic as well. Being nearly 80 and living alone and very home bound this episode has given me the push I needed to get more in the spirit. My family have others to visit and I have plans to retire early and treat myself to using my antique dinnerware my mom left me. The only time I use it is on a special occasion such as Christmas. My wish for you is to enjoy each blessed moment you have with your loved ones and be happy experiencing those blessings of togetherness. Merry Christmas and an especially healthy and wondrous New Year to you and yours. Love that you share all your beautiful decor and making your viewers feel so welcomed .

Many years ago my husband’s parents started giving holiday China place settings for Christmas. I chose Lenox holiday. After the first year I was given this China i started receiving from both sides. serving pieces for anniversary presents. After a decade I have a large amount. I love every piece!!! I bought red damask tablecloths and napkins in multiple sizes from William Sonoma and it is beautiful. Both sides of our parents have passed away and they are thought of every year. I start using them December 1st every year until January 31st in the new year. I always feel really lucky my sister in law had them start this for her and they did it for all children. I think I ended up with 16 pacesetting’s in total with multiple serving pieces.

You need to be introduced to “Fun Tak”. I couldn’t decorate without it! It’s similar to poster putty but better -with one reservation. It can leave a slight grease mark if left on more absorbent surfaces, like flat painted walls, for a time. Fun Tak is blue and can be molded to hold candles, small figures, and so much more. I have re-used some blobs for years. Try it. You’ll like it!

The bowl of spiced pecans reminds me of a Christmas tradition in my family.
Take some walnuts, toss lightly in olive oil,and sprinkle fresh rosemary.
Sprinkle with a bit of salt, and roast in the oven.
    Incredible.
The only downside to this treat is that people won’t stop eating them, especially when still warm and toasty, this tends to curb their appetite for the upcoming meal,so don’t make too many of them!!

Answer to your question OTD, we called it a “table pad”, and it was typically quilted. Felt on one side and a waterproof layer on the other side. I grew up with a beautiful white linen tablecloth edged in a band of lace. Her Copeland Spode “India Tree” China always looks festive and beautiful against the white. It’s more of a rust red. To me, that’s Christmas. We never did red and green, nor do I as a 60 year old now. Never have. I did plaid once. Merry Christmas Linda and Stuart

I only have table cloths that I inhereted or were given to me from my mother when I moved from my parents. So all are old but I recently bought a rotundan table so I need new ones! Loove this table scape Linda! It is fabulous!

Enjoyed this so much, my mum has a round tablecloth very similar. She still uses it every year - she’s now 85 😊

I think your table linens are beautiful. I wanted to let you know that your friend, Sydney, inspired me to display my aunt's vintage Christmas tree toppers. I don't have a handy husband to make me a stand, so I used floral sticky putty to keep them secure on top of crystal candlestick holders. Merry Christmas to you, Stewart, and your families.

I will be at Trader Joe's first thing in the morning to see if they still have the ivy topiaries. I still have one from two years ago but would love to put a couple on my Christmas table too! I NEVER use table cloths on my dining room table because I love for the wood (walnut) to show. However, I loved your Thanksgiving cloth so much that I went to Amazon and bought one! I get more inspiration from you about everything (sleeveless shirts under sweaters, cutting amaryllis stems for arrangements, etc.) than you will ever know! Peace and joy during the holidays and always!

It's always good to visit with Linda and Stewart. Love the nostalgia of the Christmas table. So many special sentiments and memories are set on these tables. Tomorrow requires a trip to Trader Joe's. Those Ginger Sandwich cookies are precious!

The table is beautiful Linda. I gave all my Christmas dishes to my two daughters to use with their families. Love that the memories of the dinnerware will go in through our family to enjoy. Merry Christmas to you and yours and Stewart and his.

I love all 3 vignettes you showed today, but Linda I have to say your dining room table is my favorite of any you've done.
Maybe it's the nostalgia but I just love it. Especially loved the red pitcher and glasses, the tablecloth, and the centerpiece here.
    Can't wait for the news...!

Beautiful, elegant and nostalgic setting! I tend to lean towards more vintage than modern table settings so this really spoke to me. I absolutely love decorating and creating tablescapes for holidays bringing out special dishes from loved ones. I believe your red tumblers/pitcher is Anchor Hocking Ruby Red Honeycomb Georgian pattern. How beautiful for Christmas. My favorite item in your decor was the fabric Christmas tree and the backstory of your dear friend Mo. ❤ That melts my heart.

❤ Another fun and informative video. As you know I am one of your biggest fans. I have some of those lace plates. There is a name for them and I cannot remember. They were my mother’s. When I think/remember about it I’ll let you know. Sending hugs, love, prayers and kindness.
