  • Whenever you add horsepower, you should add upgrades to the drivetrain, like MIP driveshafts. In this video, I show how to assemble, install and show running my new MIP driveshafts for the Traxxas TRX-4 Chassis Kit.

    I have MIP DS's in all of my vehicles except the Maxx and had to use Traxxas for that. Well worth the cost and never replace a DS again!!!

    They are top notch no doubt but really...are they necessary on a trx4??

      For most the stock shafts are just fine. However, if you add certain power upgrades, it could effect other components, driveshafts being one.

    Nice looking upgrade....and maybe a little more weight down low😎

    I love mip’s. I was just wondering if you noticed how close the drive hub is from rubbing on the underside of the transmission case, in the front of the tranny. There is a curved out section in the front, for the driveline, but it was so close that I actually shave about 1/64” off the edge of the rounded part. Also, in that same spot, the pin screw that holds the mip driveline on the front of the transmission, is too long, and sticks out the other side, hitting the same spot on the bottom of the transmission case.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 2 lety

      Mine was close, but nothing rubbed. I'd double check your install and the items around it to make sure it's still correct

    I have to ask cause I can not find an answer ANYWHERE…I have a TRX4 Bronco ‘79 with the Traxxas lift kit installed. Would you suggest running the MIP 18250 or the MIP 17110? The 17110 are designed for the longer wheelbase platforms but given that my truck is lifted and the stock plastic drive shafts had to be extended I’m doubting the MIP 18250 will be long enough with the lift kit. Even MIP could not give me a clear answer besides stating to purchase from them directly and return them if fitment did not work. 😡

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 2 lety

      If I remember right, didn't the lift kit come with extra parts for the driveshafts? To make them longer? I'd go with the longer option and go from there...you can always cut down the internal male section worst case

  • @joshlaquerre3197

    I see it's been a year, since you made this video. How are the drive shafts holding up? I have vanquish incision on another RC crawler that I have and I was just wondering if I should buy those again or get these instead. The incision drive shafts have held up great with a tun of abuse. 4s abuse so thair tough. Do you think the mip will take same abuse

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 2 lety

      My MIP's are doing great still. The Incisions are also pretty decent....can't go wrong with either. I'd personally stick with what you have though...keep replacement parts to a minimum (set pins and such)

  • @ka4172
    @ka4172 Před 2 lety

    Mips need constant service ,cleaning and oiling after every run .with no service they rust in no time.But they are the strongest on the market.I never break any of my TRX4 stock shafts not even with my Kratos six on 3S Brushless.The TRX4 shafts are the strongest plastic shafts i ever have on a truck "tortured" ha ha.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 2 lety

      Not really, in my experience. Sure, any component when clean and lubed will run better, but I've abused MIPs with pretty good results

    These shafts are absolutly weaker than the originals. The lack of material present around the pins is surprising. Maybe they figured pit the perfect heat treat or something. Truck is looking good though bud

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  Před 4 lety +2

      Anything that MIP does is highly engineered and tested. They don’t rush to market, they take their time. I always like the beefiness of their traditional driveshafts, but never the scale looks. These now fox that.
