Q:What camera do you use?
A: I use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black Edition primarily. Often times you will see auxillary cameras in use. Those cameras include The Go Pro Hero 6, Hero, and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Q: How big Is your rotator?
A: It is a 50 ton Miller Industries Vulcan 950
Q: Does the carriage slide back like Ron Pratt's?
A: No, the carriage doesn't slide back due to strict weight laws in California. The sliding carriage will make the truck to heavy in CA
Q: Why do you only have 3 winches on the rotator?
A: Comes down to weight again as stated above
Q: How many trucks Does Plaza Towing have?
A: Currently more than 30
Q: Why must the driveshaft be removed to tow a vehicle?
A: When vehicles are not running the transmission is not receiving circulating lubricant. If the driveshaft is left installed, the transmission, which is not receiving lubricant, is still spinning. This allows it to get very hot which eventually will cause major damage to the transmission. Therefore, removing the driveshaft completely eliminates the transmission from spinning. Simply leaving it in neutral is not sufficient since the transmission still spins in neutral. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
people flex with lambo pics, Trent uses his rotator
I'm just waiting for the day every Hollywood entertainer has to buy one because of how much they cost never gets used just purchasing it because they can
I'd take the rotator over any luxury vehicle any day.
Nice , I always wondered how they un stacked them . Thanks for the video
Either a wrecker or an on site overhead hoist. I worked for Active Transport, but we only handled new trucks
Might want to consider the next time you do this, FORCING the workers to only install one front steer at a time, multiple times you were raising or lowering without being able to see the far guy.....and had a finger gotten smashed you know who they would blame!
Interesting way to tow multiple semi's. I usually see them on flatbeds or landolls.
Great video. I like see what the different daily jobs your company does.
Delivered new international trucks for 18 months, used a tow truck to undeck maybe 3 times, usually a worn out chain hoist hanging from a rusty A-frame
Yep-- been there- done that for 22 years. Pulled many "back hauls" out of the Springfield plant to get back to my home terminal area.
Canr believe gw got the J bolts loose with a crescent wrench if so they werent tight enough
I noticed that too, Active Transport puts them on with hammer wrenches until the nuts dont turn anymore
Keep up the good work I enjoy watching them something to do keep it up
Short & sweet. Thanks ☺️
GREAT...no LOUD music. Just right. Softly.
Mr Trent Thanks for sharing and stay safe
Delivered new Ford Truck piggy back from the Ford Plant in Kentucky until they sold out in 1997, interesting to see how the fly by nights hook them up
That Rotator is awesome compared to the old 750 Holmes or A frame with a chain hoist at the dealership 👍
Cool, be great to see photos of those days if you took any. Can be shared to YT's "golden age of trucking" He can add them and post.
Great stuff, Trent
Cool 😎 Quick Video Gues Heat Is Playing
HAVICK on Everything LOL 😆😂
I noticed a major safety issue with the red truck.
Adjusting one side up or down to accommodate one mechanic affects the other.
This puts the mechanic on the blind side at risk, especially with little communication between people that probably aren’t used to working with each other.
Just an observation.
I’ve had similar experience with crane operators while performing helicopter maintenance.
It can be quite difficult to work within 1” of movement and not have your hands or aircraft crushed by a guy used to banging around oilfield equipment every day.🙀
Every task isn’t going to fit into OSHA standards, so it’s up to you to keep yourself and others safe.
I’ve seen plenty of these on the road, but haven’t observed the process.
Great video 👍😎
And the safety nazi has arrived
Was thinking the same thing. Can't be on both sides at the same time, could injure personnel or damage equipment. I don't know if this was a rookie mistake, or poor judgement, but it is observable fact he is a liability to his employer and the insurance co. in his present assignment. I've operated heavy wreckers, heavy rotators, 90 ton mobile hydraulic cranes, and 65 ton rough terrain mobile hydraulic cranes.
Not me finding him on tiktok 😭
Nice work 👍👍👍😊
Another good video!
Always wondered how they did this. Thanks!
Enjoyed the video once I turned the 70's buzzy music off.
Nice work!!!
When you say your camera overheated, I'm not surprised, I would too working in that climate! 😰
Very cool 👍
Sand is notorious isn't it. Great job
These are the easier jobs. Still nice to see. Seen on 18-6-22 at 10:52 in the NL.
Awesome video! 👍 Amazing truck!! 😃 Just found your channel. Pretty cool!
Thx for post, like to see good shot of the cradles and be cool to have Plaza decals made for kit builds for instance, could build replica of this video rig.
Your voice REALLY was saying "It's ONLY a million dollar truck. Pocket Change."
Nice work
Trent nice work as always does plaza us air bags at all?
The thumbnail of those 3 semi's reminds me of how hotshot rigs are made.
I really wondered how they be hooking and unhooking these trucks thanks
Interesting seeing the different ways different places do things- in Australia they either use a lowloader two at a time, or just drive them to the dealers in many cases (saw a fleet of identical ones, all on dealers plates heading out past me in the opposite direction when I was driving up near the coal mines up north, about thirty of them followed by a full sized coach lol- not sure how they would go here legal wise as it would probably be route restricted as a 'double trailer'... I can't see how it could be cheaper, you need a crane each end and tyres taken off and then refitted??? 😲
Dont forget the drive shaft or axles need to be removed/ refitted too, diff and gearbox parts don't like getting rotated from the wheels.
This way one guy can drive 3 trucks one way. Tear down and setup + wrecker costs is still cheaper than 3 trucks being driven separately
@@Kolton_Wagner and the fuel savimgs too
Nice work!!!! Good money I bet. Lol
Love the clip of the two guys and their saying after Trent reveals what the company paid for the rotator. I’d probably have the same reaction!
pity they didnt spend it all on a decent truck.....
🤔
Just out of curiosity what movie or TV show was that clip from?
That was cool
I've decked, driven, and undecked many, many sets of these piggy backs.
Fucked up a number of 'em too!
Things can go south real quick with a load of decked trucks.
First off, I wanna know just where in the hell those steer tires mysteriously appeared from?
And next I gotta say, I've seen a lot of drivers do a lot of shit, but I've never seen anyone unbolt saddles using crescent wrenches!🤪🤣
I'm also willing to bet that screwed up grill got that way when someone goofed up while decking that load.
Piggybacking is a dog's life.
Probably not cheap to operate a rotator either considering California’s abnormally high diesel prices lately
Hello I'm here from tiktok
Just curious, what did you charge the customer for the undecking?
I'm not a fan of sleepers on saddle mount. To me, this would have been safer as an FES
Always curious how this worked! Now, how do they load them? Opposite I trust? Thx
Pretty much just the oppsite, either a wrecker or an on site overhead hoist. Some dealerships that get a bunch of trucks in have a designated undecking area with a hoist that can be used to deck old trucks as well
Where were the front wheels/tires stored?
Now I know!
Those guys sure like putting their hands and bodies in pinch areas... 😳 Worked in the steel industry long enough to see people like that die or lose a finger or limb. Just can't fix stupid.
Just curious. How much does your company charge to go out and tow a semi?
Cant tell you for his company but usually they will not hook up for less then a thousand dollars
next episode , how to use a towing truck to cut down an oak tree !
I have wondered why the US wreckers are much different from the European ones? From what I have seen on the internet they favor wheel lifts but US doesn't.
It's all down the the local rules. Many European countries all but prohibit suspended tows above a certain weights and lengths, while others make it next to impossible to use wheel lifts.
Overall length limits in European countries also make us towing styles unusable
👏👏👏
They ever hear of blacktop parking lots?
What an amazing video thank you so much God bless please post more videos a week thank you
👍👍👍
Whats that about a million all tooled up
Were the driveshafts removed and if not why?
Axles
No, the axles are pulled out of the rear and the front axle is chain to the frame on the front one. When the front of the truck is picked up the front axle is lifted clear of the road so the rear of the truck is only riding on that rear axle.
👍✌
Dont you remove the prop shaft in american trucks when transporting them like that?
usually the transporter will pull the rear axles
They also favor separating @ the U-Joint& then tape the caps, and just tie the drive shaft up out of the way
@@adamt4742 but if they do that, the oil is flowing out and you need to refill that, before putting it back together.
@@tobiasmetzger4522 ummm, no
there is a carrier bearing between the transmission and the pumpkin
@@tobiasmetzger4522 if you pull the axles, theres a cap thats bolted on to keep the dirt out and the oil in. In my experience its a mdf type board with a rubber gasket
Not sure what you charge an hour or per job like that but wouldn't it be cheaper to just drive the trucks separately??
Probably not. Labor, fuel, time,etc.... This is probably cheaper over all
these days finding drivers is a big problem as well.
At $850K you should have purchased 2 so that you would have spare parts.
That theam music. Belong to anjelica Larson..she's been using that for many years now. Find another one for your videos intro.
use an air impact instead of crescent wrenches, way faster and easier, Feed off the tow truck.
when you can can we get another life in day with you :D
$850,000. If you say it fast it makes it much better.
On a beach??
YOU MEAN 750,000
Hi
Did the ‘money pit’ get paved?
Semis... not Semi's.
Yikes
Not really a point to having an intro when Trent says the same thing 10 seconds later.
It looks like you bought a grill if not more. Not a good advertisement video.
Those trucks were both junk, the red one was missing a windshield.
@@farmerbill6855 It probably wasn't until those two buffoons ran into the hoist.
It appears as though they busted the windshield on one, and ripped off the grill on the other.
Incredibly obvious answer: A rotator. Go watch another video now.
