Vectorman speed run [

- This is my Vectorman speedrun in 13 minutes and 44 seconds, as timed from pressing Start Game to delivering the final hit on Warhead.
Vectorman is a kind of unique run'n'gun in that you never shoot enemies if you can avoid it. The best way to deal damage by far is actually the jump-boost that you get by pressing C twice. The regular shot does have some utility, though: if you shoot up-right as you land from a fall your speed immediately resets to a high value.
I would have preferred to get a deathless run, but only one death losing minimal time isn't too bad. Can be beaten by a good few seconds (maybe 20?) but didn't fancy the grind that would have entailed. When I did the PAL run the grind was three months long, and this just took a weekend, to give you an idea of how my attitude to speedruns, especially of simple games like this, have changed over time.
Vectorman receives a message: "Humanity will arrive in 13 minutes and 44 seconds so you better make sure there's no hostile robots when they get there."
Vectorman as he's running and vooping hostile robots: "That's an oddly specific number but I'll make it work."
Robots like.
Vectorman: Okay done. But let me ask you, how do you feel about giant insects?
This game really stood out in my childhood
Same here

This makes mode 7 look like the nes.

Easily one of the best if not best action platformers on the Genesis. Even has some of the best music, too. Not quite the Nostalgia factor of Sonic 1-3&K, or the pop culture of say Mortal Kombat, but such a gem of a game.
I remember once playing casually with a friend and vector man was invincible the entire game. We didn’t know how we did it. I’m in my 30s now and still think about it
There is a cheat code that gives you invincibility. Maybe you somehow accidentally entered it?
I still remember the cheat codes "DRACULA" and "CALL A CAB" that you could enter during a paused game. CALL A CAB turned you into a cursor that could float through the level and inflict damage. DRACULA might have been invincibility.
Damn, I remember playing this as a kid and I don't remember the jump boost doing that much damage! lol
yea that's wtf I'm sayin'!!!
Yes. You can shred some bosses with the Boot Blast. I had forgotten how powerful it was.
I miss this game so much. I had to learn it as an adult to help my child when she would get stuck. I would love to see an updated version of this. It was so great!❤️
play it on an emulator, it's easy to setup, fidn the rom online
Sonic 1, 2 and vectorman were my first games for my Genesis...vectorman was very unique in sound and level design, cool bosses and ending...it's ashame it never got the recognition it deserved.
You are a video game prodigy! That set up with the polar bear boss was swift, imma call you the rocket boost master! And you took down clockwork like it was nothing, it took me and my friend 30 minutes to beat that boss. Very good video!
7 year old me just had his mind absolutely exploded. This was awesome.
Man, I forgot how great the music in this game is. Gotta love it when they do such a good job with the Genesis synths
Those days we could relive
A robot fulfilling the mission controlled by a TAS.
Vectorman, one of Sega's best 16-bit games.
Great run and a great game. I used to play the daylights out of this as a kid. The graphics blew me away back then, this was probably the most impressive looking genesis game I ever had. A great run and gun too, really holds up fine.
Ooooh this was a surprise to find in my notifications. Grats man, super clean movement in comparison to the last ntsc pb (nice clockwork battle too), and i'll have to scrutinize it for when I can finally get past stage 3 in a decent time, haha! Vectorman 2 next weekend? :P
I practiced it for a little while, and then realised I couldn't do the tornado jumps in 18 so there wasn't much point. I think you can have that one!
Yeah, it's an insanely stupid trick in an otherwise easy and enjoyable speedrun :/ Practicing it always made my arm hurt
Why do OG Sega Genesis games stand the test of time so well...
Blue sky was hype with this game engine being used for Jurassic park rampage edition as well.
One of my favourite Sega Genesis game and good speed run 🕹👍
i cant wait for them to include vectorman as DLC in Ballz3D

i loved this game and the character. i really must have sucked because i dont think i ever beat this in entirety.
I played this game all the time and never knew what was going on.
That was me with most PS2 games.
hard to think I played this 24 years ago
Even if its not a WR, I couldn't do this, so for that... hats off brah!
I never knew the jet boots damage enemies when I was little
Vectorman needs built in rapid-fire.
He's good but his gun is too fast and too powerful? No way he could beat some of those bosses like that in a normal game. He killed the train boss wayyyy too fast but whatevs still entertaining to watch!
This Game I Since 2022 I Like And Remenber It In My Heart
Amazing
Good job!
I have two questions:
Was this played on a real Genesis?
And were you using a turbo function?
awesomeness
What does the CALLACAB cheat code do? (I learned this from ProtonJon in the Runaway Guys’ Mario Party 5 Super Duel Mode video)
It turns Vectorman into a weird "mouse cursor" that has no collision/has invincibility, is very fast, and damages enemies when hovering over them.
Insane.

I loved this game as a kid! :)
1:25 metaldead. I'm not sorry.
Kinda a shame this game didn't get too far past the sequel. I'm sure it would been quite popular if it had managed to keep going
I really miss this, Ecco and Ristar. Wish sega and the fans gave more support to those franchises in the past.. .I am sure a new game will be well receibed.
@@milesr4609 Ecco the dolphin was confusing when I was little
@@chinossynthesizer705 still is 😂😂😂!!!. But amazing indeed.
@@milesr4609 the music was sad and scary
@@chinossynthesizer705 nope, maybe in "the machine" stage. But it have one of the best soundtracks in 16bit, 32bits and 128bits ever. The sad and scary are pretty biased opinions from people who never played the games...
but why "vectorman"?
Yeah, Ive been watching this game in marketplace) like 20 year ago lol
Why isn't it calculating your bonus at the end?
If you hit one of the shoot buttons or jump it skips that.
Seems doctored.
