    Repeat That Again… with Collage
    Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!
    work on a series! When I first get to my studio in the morning, I do at least six loose daily warmup paintings - in a series: same subject, color combination, or composition. They are SIBLINGS not TWINS… I am not trying to make duplicate copies. Much more fun and satisfying to make each one a little different - yet similar.
    But - if I want to switch it up a bit or take those warmup paintings to the next level, I add collage!
    In this BobBlast, my demo starts with two quarter sheets of watercolor paper. Loose, warmup pears are already sketched in - now to spice it up a bit and to keep me excited, I add graphic collage elements!
    My first step is to spread acrylic gel medium over the entire surface of the paper. Then I began to freely layer collage paper - torn pieces, not cut. Everything appears random at the start!
    Second step - after I layer the collage paper, I spread additional gel medium on top of the entire surface to "seal" it all down. I use a brayer to squeeze out the excess gel and eliminate air bubbles. My favorite one right now is by Catalyst - all silicon, so paint doesn't stick to it. Here is the best part - while your mixed media piece is not dried, you can still paint acrylic paint on top of it. Acrylic (gel medium) sticks to acrylic (paint).
    The final step is to apply a coat of clear, acrylic varnish. Then… sign it! Mix it all up!

    I can't afford art classes and I so appreciate your demos. I was an art teacher, art therapist ,and artist. I deal with chronic pain it has isolated me. I so miss artists and being with them. Thank you for sharing your art making. I love it! There are no mistakes, everyone can make art but there is no doubt you share your secrets, ideas, and philosophy. Many artists will not share their techiniques. I watch all your U tube videos and they inspire me!

    Bob, I love you but so help me, I never want to see another pear again. I appreciate that you are trying to keep it simple for beginners but many of your followers are well beyond new to painting. How about some bananas or tangelos? Or squash? Squash are interesting. Please put the pears in the compost pile.

    • @lularge3544
      @lularge3544 Před 2 lety

      I don't understand your negative response. This is so much more than just pears. From your comment you consider yourself "well beyond new to painting" in which case you could use the technigues he generously gives for free and use them on your bananas, tangelos or squash paintings. Or, like me, use them as inspiration.

    • @lrajek3389
      @lrajek3389 Před 2 lety

      @@lularge3544 You are right, you don't understand. You chose to see it as a negative response, instead of someone teasing someone else, as in "What, potatoes for dinner again, Margaret?" or "Oh dear, another happy tree painting." Bob knows he can paint anything he wants, and is not crying in his boots over my vegetables crack.
