Agreed. I first heard a portion of the song when they made a documentary about themselves touring The Bends, and Thom would sound check with this song before it was fully written. I immediately had to teach myself how to play it. The song is incredible.
I think crying would be normal behavior. If you'd didn't cry and just sat in silence without any visible emotion. That. That person there. Hug them.

Enjoyed watching your reaction. Radiohead might be THE emotional band. If you are moved by them, you are lucky to be able to hear the rest of their catalog for the first time. There's just a ton of beautiful songs
Thank you for your wonderful reaction. I'm a 50 year old man and Radiohead has been my favorite band since I first heard them. They still bring me to tears everytime.
Thom Yorke said that this was one of his favorite songs. It is about him trying to deal with suddenly having to deal with stardom and being completely uncomfortable with it. Brilliant selection.
He said he called Michael Stype from REM to ask how he deals with it, to which he replied, I just imagine I have completely disappeared, and no one can see me ...
This is one of the most emotional song ever written. I love this song, it’s interpreted many ways but this song is so powerful

This is why I love radiohead. No matter where you are in life they will have a song that speaks to you. This song in particular got me through some dark times. Please listen to more of their work. Subscribed and happy that you're now in a better place

Radiohead saved my life. I got into them at the darkest moment of my life and their lyrics and unusual instrumental composition helped me get through a lot of stuff..

When Radiohead get all ethereal, it hits you in your soul.
Radiohead knows how to get down inside you and rip everything out. Many of us felt exactly like this song sounds. They are so amazingly beautiful and pure emotion. They have so many songs that will just invade you, enjoy the journey.
I sang/ played this song in my head to be able to endure an MRI, I’m claustrophobic. This song makes me float.😊
I would recommend No Surprises by them it’s a beautiful song, I’d describe it as a lullaby for adults

You should check out there In Rainbows album. Literally every song is good, but I'd recommend Nude, House of Cards, Jigsaw falling into place, weird fishes

Beautiful reaction! Reminds me of when I first heard of this masterpiece years ago. I was going through a very bleak period after a nasty breakup in my early 20s and was depressed. Was very much able to connect with the music and for once felt understood, just through the sounds and lyrics. Thanks for being vulnerable enough to share your experience with us! I very much related with you.

I usually despise reaction channels , because most of them employ "fake reactions". But what I've stumbled upon is perhaps , the most genuine emotional response I've ever seen ❤️. Have a great listen and a great day with Radiohead:)

Here's a fun (largely lost to history) fact that not many people seem to know about this song. Most people know Thom's lyrics were inspired by advice that Michael Stipe of REM gave him on overcoming stage fright. But the acoustic guitar shuffle that starts the song was inspired by a time on tour when their tour bus was traveling through the Rocky Mountains heading to a concert in Denver, Colorado and a pack of wild horses were trying to outrun a thunderstorm into some woods off the side of the interstate at sunset. It apparently hit Thom really hard because the horses were graceful to his eyes but chaotic and scared to themselves, and that's why he has horns come in later that are chaotic against the ramble. Then Michael's Stipe's advice (which he'd already heard) came to him as the lyrics of channeling grace and majesty through chaos. Thom mentioned this to the old magazine Magnet in the late 90's but it somehow never got well known, but the actual origin of How To Disappear began with Thom on a tour bus staring out a window at wild horses trying to outrun a storm into some trees in the Rockies.

It’s an amazing song - my first reaction was very similar, it uniquely captures anxiety and depression in their full toxicity.
Keep going with Radiohead they are very good at atmosphere and not all sad, though many are melancholy, but they fairly much cover everything

Thom's voice gives us what we all feel. That emotion through the held tones is us. It's just... all of us.
Lots of love! I think this song is a lovely way of connecting with and reflecting on negative feelings and being able to recognise the power of internal kindness. I find it sobering but also uplifting in it's instructiveness and I think that's an incredible thing for any band to have achieved musically and lyrically in a five minute track!

A band that always gives you the feels they are so great creating emotional landscapes for you to dwell in and to me they are one of the great artistic bands ever I liken them to the Beatles their spiritual successors if you will none of their albums sound alike.

Nice reaction Lainie and yes Radiohead cover many genres of music but i find their haunting melodic songs like this one quite emotional also, if u get a chance have a listen to "Codex" "Nude" or "Sail to the moon " just brilliant song writing

Great reaction to a beautiful song. The fact that you have tuned in so well to these two Radiohead songs is a great reflection upon who you are - you clearly have a lovely soul. Continue to enjoy your journey with them. My personal recommendations would be 'House of Cards', 'Subterranean Homesick Alien', 'Airbag', 'Lucky', 'Talk Show Host' and 'Desert Island Disk'.

This song is about the sudden worldwide fame the band received after the album The Bends came out. He had a hard time dealing with being famous and in the spotlight. While on tour, Michael Stipe of REM visited him and told him in a discussion, just repeat to yourself, "I'm not here, this isn't happening."

I only listen to this song when I’m at my lowest of lows. Thank you for feeling this song for me.
I know the background of why Thom wrote this great song. For me the song connects to getting through all the stinking bad things that happen in life when its not through any fault of my own. There is hope, even when more things come along pushing you down. To keep battling with positive energy and things do come good in the end.

I totally hear ya ... Its very easy to put ourselves down and be hard on ourselves, especially when others can be harsh... Long as we learn to love ourselves in the end up, everything else should fall into place .. :)

Such a great band with such a great catalog and variety of songs and atmospheres, I really recommend listening to more of them, they are just TOO GOOD to be true.

Pretty please do me a favor and yourself a favor and react to the music video for the song I promise by Radiohead. It doesn't have quite as many views as some of their other music as it was released only recently. It was a song that they didn't originally keep on the album and so it wasn't recorded until it was released a few years ago. Radiohead, and especially this song, helped me get through a lot when I was going through a rough time in life. I believe you will be able to feel what I feel when I hear that song. Excellent reaction to an emotional song. Personally in terms of songs I'd recommend 'The Daily Mail', 'Daydreaming', 'Glass Eyes' and 'True Love waits'. But honestly you can't go wrong with any Radiohead song.
