Hi Simon, I love this deck. It was my unicorn 🦄 I had preordered this right when it became available to do so. Whilst I was waiting I was able to get an Indie version which is what I’ve been using this to help me navigate through my grief. Three weeks ago I was able to acquire the Cherry Blossom 🌸 Edition which I also love. I hope to acquire the color misprint deck someday. This is a beautiful deck 🖤🤍

What I love about this deck is how beautiful it looks in spreads, so elegant and simple to read. For a deck of dualities I think it's a shame it doesn't have males and females as we all encompass both energies.

I didn’t know this one was going mass market - I hope it puts the fakers out of business on eBay as I’ve noticed it’s a ‘popular’ deck to fake. I can’t tell you how much I love this deck - I’ve only got twenty decks these days and three of them are Black Violet versions - the deluxe, the cherry blossom and the white one. I really like The Hierophant - I’ve always thought she’s encircled by prayer beads and it looks a bit like a doorway and hierophant means gatekeeper. She’s touching/pointing to a star which is the key to open the door.

Yes, I thought of the Rosary when I saw the Hierophant! Also, the headdress reminded me of the fresco, "The Tarocchi Players", from the Casa Borromeo in Milan, c.1440, which features on the cover of Benebell Wen's book, Holistic Tarot.

@@kikibelle8265 In the Visconti-Sforza deck, La Papessa (High Priestess), is supposed to be Sister Manfreda (c.1300), an Umiliata nun, and relative of the Visconti family, elected Pope by the heretical Guglielmite sect of Lombardy. So maybe Manfreda finally gets the Hierophant / Pope job in this deck :) The sect believed that Guglielma, their founder (d. 1281), would return to earth on the Feast of Pentecost in 1300, and that the male dominated Papacy would pass away, giving way to a line of female Popes! Interesting times (hats and hair-do's) in the Middle Ages :)

Love the imagery on this deck! It's amazing how effective and evocative minimalistic black and white and silhouette images can be. Allows more play to the imagination, maybe, to "fill it in".

Love love love The Black Violet Tarot, so much so, I have the Cherry Blossom indie limited edition, the pink one, which is stunning, very special, and a very crystal clear reader its like a whole energy of its own separate to its older sibling, I also have the black & white indie deluxe edition with gorgeous black gilding, that also reads like a dream but is much more shadowy, haunting than the cherry blossom, they are some of my favourite decks and take pride of place in my bookcase, the extra cards Ghost & Coven fit in perfectly with the decks energy. It looks like they also did a great job with the mass market one, I dont have that edition and won't be getting it, but Im glad they did it justice, many times when indie decks go mass market it drops in quality and ruins the specialness in my opinion, but not in this case.

Agreed. We are seeing a real shift in quality upgrades with MM decks recently 😍
