I absolutely love this. My grandfather was an aerial photographer, used to plan bombing runs and was shot down, he and only one other fella survived. Not only are Zero West cracking watches with an interesting case design that I don't recall seeing before but they manage to source historic materials to place into each watch. Once gone that's it. I am absolutely fascinated with the Zero West brand. They make the most intriguing watches you've ever reviewed on your channel, in my humble opinion. The history behind the inspiration of their watches is unlike anything I've ever seen in a watch design. Beautiful watch and excellent review! The slip turn indicator you showed in this review was just as interesting as the watch it inspired. New "What The Wife Said #WTWS" journal! 4:37 The Slip Turn Indicator is the predecessor to a more modern Turn Coordinator. It's an instrument that helps the pilot coordinate the rate of rotation of the craft against the turning rate. Wings weren't designed to fly sideways, so if they "slip" too much to one side, they'll stall. If the craft rotates too quickly for the rate of turn, it could stall into a spin. If it doesn't rotate fast enough, it could stall and slip sideways. For a steady turn, that top indicator should be close to the center. If you do the classic sideways-dive you see in films, that indicator will point into the direction of the dive as the craft "slips" in that direction. The g-forces you feel while flying can be incredibly misleading, so you can't pilot on gut feeling at all; you need instruments like these to help out whenever visual references are insufficient or absent.

Hmmmm
Have a great 2024 😁👍👍
Only thing I can think I wish was different on this watch was having blue lume on the white print and green lume for the L and R. Seeing it all glowing green was a small disappointment. Otherwise, I'm coming around on Zero West. First I ever heard about them was Paul Thorpe talking about them and being sponsored by them, and he's kind of a d-bag (my opinion, not trying to start anything), so that soured me on Zero West.
Love it but at £3000! Pilot watch collectors are gonna blow their load over this piece. Did you get to keep it?
Successful dial and caseback…but that’s about all that’s a success here sorry.
There WAS a decent watch in the making here….sadly it missed the mark. Thankfully the spitfires back in the day didn’t ;)
It’s your opinion my friend as I’m pretty sure these have almost gone! But hey if we all liked the same things life would be boring!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR oh for sure…wasn’t suggesting we all should think the same. Keep up the great work Russell, yours is a very pleasant and fun corner of the watch CZcams world. I appreciate it whole heartedly
O...M...G...🤤🤩😍🙃
Meh.
I love Zero West but for a Microbrand it is a lot.
You could buy an established brand for the price.
If I had the money, definitely but with that money your could also bag a Tudor......
Nope, nope, nope.
Care to elaborate?
They don’t need another watch putting a hole in their wallet
Well that convinces me.
@@jamessher6956 You are clearly a very discerning individual.
Qvc tat, frippery.
Beautiful watch indeed, but I don't like celebrating the story, there were over 1500 deaths at the bombing of Möhnetalsperre and almost all of them were civilians or East-European war captives no Nazis or Soldiers
almost a winner, just falling short due to excessive case thickness, at least 2mm too thick , then the price ? Wow 3 grand ?? Lordy Lordy not a chance, gonna look for an Omega , sorry bud !
It may just be me but I think it’s a bit of a mess. The crown is from another even uglier watch and why have a glass back and obscure what’s underneath.. My rating is in the name!
It's a car crash.....if not paid MWC would have said so
why
