Very interesting choice oy yours. I have a special relationship to the Graf Zeppelin, as my father told me how he had seen her as a child under camouflage nettings near his hometown of Stettin at the end of WWII. Looking forward to your build series.
The colour scheme rather depends on how you want to portray your model. The box art portrays the carrier as she might have looked anchored in a Norwegian fiord awaiting an operational mission. The Bismarck wore a similar scheme prior to Operation Rheinübung and had her superstructure repainted in grey immediately prior to that operation. Other capital ships were similarly painted. If you want to portray your model as the ship might have looked on, shall we say, a breakout into the Atlantic, I would have the hull camouflaged up to the main deck level in a similar fashion to the Bismarck and leave everything above that grey. The Hakenkreuz is a moot point as it was only displayed on ships' decks when there was a possibility of a vessel being confused with an enemy ship by friendly forces, so you can argue this point either way. I am very much looking forward to seeing how this build develops as I have the same kit in my stash along with just about every upgrade set you can get for it. I hope that helps somewhat.
The correct spelling is „Hakenkreuz“, not „Harkenkreuz“. I have the Peter Strasser kit version. This one comes with a „Flugscheibe“, a „Flying Saucer“! I also would suggest to have a look at Infini Models upgrade set.
