    You can create a much less bulky join at the center back of your neckband by using your sewing machine. I find the serger creates way too much bulk in the seam allowance and therefore a lump in the neckband.

    Hi there. You don't mention if this pretty green binding is cut on the bias. I'm not sure that a stretch material binding needs to be cut on the bias. Does it?
    Thanks

    • @denisedorsey2889
      @denisedorsey2889 Před 3 lety +1

      I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now, but I will respond in order to help others with that question. No, stretch fabric does not need to be cut on the bias as it has stretch built in. Wovens without stretch need bands cut on the bias (bias binding) because there’s a bit of stretch and it allows for sewing around curves.

    • @EllieandMacPatternsLLC
      @EllieandMacPatternsLLC  Před 2 měsíci

      I usually don’t change my lightning bolt but I would use a scrap piece of fabric and try different lengths and widths to figure out which one works best for the type of fabric you are using. A very tight stitch might eat the fabric.
