Love the simplicity of doing this tank! Now we need to know how to make that super cute green top you have on!
Greta video. Thank You for being so detailed and the zoomed in camera view.
Thanks so much! I hope you have fun sewing! - Dana
Great tutorial. I love how you take us from the very beginning to the very end. I love how you show your work at the machine. I hate when some creaters omit that part out of the video. They tell you what they'll do and come back to the table after it's been sewn. The work at the machine is an absolute fundamental piece of visual that all beginners should and need to see in order to grow their knowledge. However, just a little bit of feedback here as well... although I am a beginner myself but know this, others may not. You didn't talk the viewers through how to lay the pattern onto the fabric (selvedge vs. crosswise grain). It may also be helpful for beginners to know to always launder the fabric before starting any project to account for shrinkage.
Hi there! Thank you so much for all the feedback! I appreciate it! And you're right...I always forget to talk about prewashing fabric, and grainline. I'll try to remember that for future videos! Thanks for watching :) - Dana
Great job on that orange tank top! It will look great on you! I’m going to give it a try later this morning! Thank you so much!😊
I just HAVE to say. I love your videos, just found you and am so so so happy that there is someone showing step by step videos for sewing that I can understand. I am making matching circle skirts for my nieces and now definitely a tank top for myself. Thank you so much for doing your videos!!!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much Madelynn! Matching skirts sounds totally adorable. Have fun sewing! - Dana

Hi Dana! So nice to see you again!!! Thank you for another awesome video!🎉
So glad to see your happy face back on YT. I can't sew any type of clothing, but I still watch your clothing videos because you make me feel as if someday I'll be able too. But that's a ways in the future.

I've been watching you since I started sewing in 2016....you are one of my go to channels 😊
aw awesome! Thanks Lynette! :) Dana
Ahhh! Awesome video! I always love your endings. My favourite one still is when you were supipping the hot drink telling people to go 😂
Such a great video! I have learned so much watching your videos. Now to go see all the things! Thank you!!

Thanks so Much Dana! Always so nice to hear from you. What a cute project. BTW, your blouse is so pretty.
I wanna make a shirt like the one she has on! ❤
I’ve always loved your how-to videos and I’ve used many of them in the past. Just recently I went back to your “envelope” pillow case and little boys shorts videos. I’ve used the little girls skirt pattern too with the elastic waist. I also like the “how to make a pillow case with cording” video. You’re so creative and talented and I love that I can always search for your past videos as well as enjoy your present videos. Thank you!
Aww you are so awesome! Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoy the videos :) Thanks for watching and have a great day!

@@MADEEveryday you're welcome!
Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I have been wanting to sew some sleeveless tops and now I think I can do it without even having to buy a pattern. I love being able to make my own designs/versions of clothing, bags, etc. I just recently found you on CZcams and have loved all of your videos that I have seen. Great info and you have such a fun style!!
Oh good! Yay! Yes, it's so fun to breakdown the process and feel like you can do it! You've totally got this :) Have fun making tank tops! And thanks for watching! - Dana
Lovely top. Thanks for sharing ❤
Great video....appreciate all the tips too.....thank you!
Thanks for sharing, I’ve been procrastinating, making a sundress for myself, my plan was using one of my existing dresses as a pattern so now you have motivated me to get going. 👍❤️😊
oh good! I'm excited for you to sew a dress! Sounds adorable :) - Dana
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create this awesome and amazing tank top. I really really love ❤️ the end results and it didn’t take long at all. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed watching! Yes, it's really fun how quickly these clothing projects can come together! Dana
Wow, you're so motivational and funny!
I could always sew pillows and curtains, but am now doing some simple clothes - this was so informative, definitely making soon!
Love your top!
Great job! Will definitely make.
Love this video!! Thank you !!
Looks awesome!!!!❤
Thanks so much! Have fun sewing! - Dana
Thank you , this was so helpful.
Love this.
I really want to make some clothes for myself, I have patterns & material but I’m a little nervous. After looking at this video I’m going to give it a go. Thank you for speaking layman’s language I appreciate it. So happy I found your videos, keep em coming 👍🤩🥰🥰.
You've totally got this! Honestly....I've learned so much about clothing construction by just jumping in and deconstructing my store-bought clothing to figure out how the pieces go together, etc. You can do it! And if you mess up, you can start over :) haha. Good luck Elizabeth! - Dana
Great video!!! Super helpful tips! 🤗
Thank you so much for teaching me how to do this. I love watching all your videos, you are so bubbly and happy and that makes me smile. I have made some of your creations and I love the way you keep everything so simple. You are my favorite!!! Fall is on the way and I hope you have so much fun with all your creations for that season!!
awww. What a sweet comment! Thank you so much! Your name is making me smile :) I need some pumpkin spice in my life right now! haha. Have fun sewing! - Dana
@@MADEEveryday Thank you Dana!!! I love the Fall season the best!!! I hope your day is wonderful!!
Hey! Good to see you ❤❤❤
Love it
Haven’t saw you in awhile glad to see a video
Aw thank you! I know...it's been a while :) I hope you enjoy the new video! - Dana
Superb video! I need to perfect that binding method. Sometimes the second row of stitches don’t evenly cover the first row.
29:56 i love that. no perfectionism , but...
''all you ever need to do is do your best'' 😁
You look amazing Dana. Great video.
Aw thanks you Tiffany!!
Wonderful. You are back!! :)
Thank you 😊
Have some jersey cotton and am going to try this!!!!
oooo perfect! Yay! I hope you have fun with it! -Dana
Yay. Dana is back. I’ve missed you.
Now, you aren’t going to forget my Christmas stocking are you? And if you could do it in tartan (or plaid as you Americans call it) you’d make my Scottish husband incredibly happy.
🧵
Love your videos! Just learned that if you spray your fabric with spray starch, you can get it to fold better and not roll on its own
Spray and iron press I should have said
Welcome back I missed you. Hope everything is ok with and family ❤
Sew awesome!! Thank you! I hope you’re doing well! I started watching you several years ago!
Aw thanks! I know I've been spotty here on CZcams, but I have a whole batch of videos that I filmed recently....so there's more to come! - Dana
@@MADEEveryday 💜💛💚
from mrs: great vid. Excellent instruction, great project that looks great and doesn't take a lot of time!!
Thanks for the comment! :) - Dana
Which sewing machine needle and size are you using❓❓❓My experience: many stretch and ballpoint needles cause skipping stitches. So far, the best for me have been Janome Purple Tip needles, yet I sometimes I still get skipped stitches, so I sew over stripes of tissue paper. Great video!
Only your channel❤love it, such a newbe here 🙏
Excelente ❤
I like the blouse you are wearing ♡♡
Haha. Thanks! It's from Target! :) - Dana
This is a nice video.
You are so awesome ❤
Thx Dana❤am from uganda
Hi there! Thanks for watching and have fun sewing :) - Dana
thank you
Great job. I may just have to give it a try. Not a fan of stretch. I ran across my notes I wrote down for making the simple apron you did a video on about 4 years ago. I made 26 of those for Christmas ( I made a note of it).
I missed you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was so excited when I saw this! Bring more, more often 🤭😉
What kind of pen was that pink pen, when u were tracing?
Tia
Hahah. Yes! I shot a whole batch of videos recently, so there are more come! yay! And that's really funny that you asked about my pen. haha. It's just a cheap ballpoint pen we got from our orthodontist and I can't believe I used it in the video...must have been a last minute thing where I needed a pen and grabbed that. But it's wonky shaped haha. I wondered if anyone would notice it! You did! :) Thanks for making me laugh about that Tia. - Dana
Great video. Love the top. Did you make the top you wearing at the moment. Very pretty and love the sleeves. Will you ever think of doing a tutorial video of the top.
Thanks! The green top is from Target! Many have asked about the sleeves. Maybe I should do a video on how to make sleeves like that :) Thanks for watching! - Dana
Love the idea of leaving tails to help get started and stay out of the 'throat', will do that from now on :). I would love to know how you put the ruffle on the cat t-shirt sleeves, is that on another video?
I should create a follow up video for those cat sleeves! Good idea! Thanks for watching Jess :) - Dana
Wow! It's been 4 months since ur last video. Good thing I'm subscribed, like this I know that u uploaded a new vid!
Hahah. Thanks! Yea, it's been a while. Hopefully I can be more frequent on here :) I just filmed a batch of new videos, so there's more to come! - Dana
The sleeves on the blouse you are wearing, how to make them, so pretty
Thanks! Yea, I should do a video on how to make those sleeves. I've thought about doing that for a while now. Thanks for watching! - Dana
❤❤❤
Wish the sewing videos would include:
1) type of fabric
2) type of thread
3) length of stitch
4) type of stitch
She does say it's a knit fabric, zig zag stitch 1.8" or any stretch stitch and she has other videos on sewing with knit fabric that goes into more detail. Hope that helps.
what needle do you recommend for knits? Thank you so much for such great videos!
Technically I should recommend a "ball needle" to you, which is best because it rolls off the knitted fibers. BUT....to be honest, I just sew with a standard needle on my knits because I've never had a problem and I hate changing my needle! haha. So there's the honest answer :) You can learn more about all that, and sewing with knits in my other video here, How to Sew with Knit Fabrics: czcams.com/video/kYI9AG7pORc/video.html
When you stitch down the binding for the armhole, what stitch are you using, same zigzag as seam or a longer, shallower zigzag? Thanks!
I believe I used a zigzag in that part also...but you could probably use a straight stitch here as well, since you are sewing it back and forth a few times. Less likely that the stitch will break
On the right side? Tyvm!
You are a wonderful instructor. Where did you purchase your fabric?
Thank you Robin! The fabric is one of my own designs, manufactured by Art Gallery Fabrics. I'm not sure if you can still find this exact strawberry print online, but I know you can find my cat fabric on Amazon: amzn.to/3PHyZSe Also, so an online search for "Dana Willard fabric" and you'll see other shops pop up. Thanks for watching! - Dana
Any chance you can do a serger version of this?
Loved your tutorial. Where can i get a ironing mat like yours?
Thanks Dianna! There are tons of options on Amazon and in fabric shops for wool pressing mats. I can't remember the exact brand I have, but here are some options for you: amzn.to/3PnyGdE
@@MADEEveryday thank you for replying. I ended up on Amazon couple days ago. All good
Hi Dana, I have heard that you can sew with a straight stitch if I am using a strech thread like Eloflex strech thread. Is that correct?
I’ve done it. Yes! Best to practice a bit first because you may need to adjust your tension. 😊
The bias strips don't need to be cut on a diagonal?
In this case you don't need to, because you're using a knit fabric, so it will stretch as needed around the armholes and neckline. Yay!
Someone may have asked this or maybe it was said in the video, but how much material will be needed to do a medium tank top? Thank you.
Hey there! You need about 1 yard of fabric to make a tank top, depending on size. Most knits are about 55-60" wide, so you get a lot of fabric per yard! Hope that helps. I usually put this info in the video description notes if you need to find it in the future. Have fun sewing! - Dana
@@MADEEveryday thank you. I figured you had this info somewhere but I wasn’t sure where. I will look in the description in the future. Thank you for graciously answering my question. I have been wanting to make a tank top for a long time and your instructions are so easy to follow. I can’t wait to make it. I just subscribed!!
Can you make this into a v neck?
Can we do it with a two way stretch?
Yes totally! Make sure the stretch is going horizontal across the chest.
Maybe someone can answer this for me. I dont sew clothing, but im assuming on the pattern you add the seem allowance?
I did not add seam allowance, because the seam allowance was already included in the tank top that I traced for my pattern piece. Hopefully that makes sense.
What are you ironing on?
It's called a wool pressing mat. I love it! You can find a variety of them on Amazon and in fabric shops. Here are some options: amzn.to/3t2kqzL
I think this is the one I have: amzn.to/3PjLUIu
Now the top you are wearing….. did you make that??
Hahah. No. It's from Target! I love me some good puffy sleeves :)
I’m so much fatter than you- but do you ever see knot tops with short sleeves. Shall I take apart one I have that has stains on?
Sad you skipped the part that you cut the pattern
