The fact that Rigby’s parents expected him to get rejected was painful
I think it's because it came in a single letter. If you apply to a university and all they mail you is a single small envelope, it's a rejection letter. If you get a big envelope like Mordicai did, it's an acceptance letter along with additional information about the school, your student ID number, the map of the campus, etc.
Envelope’s thin, didn’t get in. Envelope’s fat, school is where it’s at.

You know im less dissapointed in Rigby for fucking up Mordecai’s career, and more impressed that he was able to pull a typwritter out of thin air and write the entire rejection letter in just under a minute while under pressure. That is some skill.
Didnt even hesitate writing it
He’s probably the most selfish character I’ve ever watched but I still sort of felt bad for him.
@@Fantastic_Stranger i don't. rigby is just too stupid and to think that the regular show wouldn't happen if it wasn't for him as well ironically.
I imagine that Rigby had a type writer all along and planned to rewrite Mordecai’s acceptance letter if he had got in - which he did.
Tbh it is impressive. Not to mention that he was able to make the rejection letter as convincing enough for it to look forged. That is a short amount of time to take this factor into consideration. Considering that Rigby isn’t the “smartest,” character, it is pretty impressive
I understand how Rigby feels honestly. But he is one of the most selfish characters I’ve ever watched. He didn’t think for one second about how Mordecai would feel. He didn’t stop for one second.
true but when you loom toward the end of the series he has the most growth especially with his relationship with eileen while mordecai makes bad choices that werent fair on margaret or CJ hence why he single
Mordecai too he literally killed him best friend over going on a “date” with Margaret 🤣
Yea but the way he changes is great growth
That's why he was my favorite character in the show and his redemption was so refreshing.

This is without a doubt one of the most deplorable things you could EVER do to someone. I honestly think Mordecai wasn't harsh enough on Rigby for this.
He literally killed Rigby for stealing his girlfriend: you can’t really top that.
I could think of more deplorable things tbh
@@mr.x2567 Trying to save face for the selfish little shit huh?
@@gantz22ify That was after, years after, and although it is no excuse, Mordo did it by accident (like when you have a heated argument with someone to the point where it can scale to violence and hurting the other).
Rigby, on the other hand, sabotaged Mordo's future, life, something very important (even Rigby knew he was going to screw his best friend's life seriously).
And don't worry, after Mordo cooled down, he acknowledged that yeah, what Rigby did was screwed, but he himself has also made mistakes in his life, but his friendship with Rigby is not one, and despite all the flaws, there were also good things (and his future self told him in some way that).
@@gantz22ify what rigby did was way worse bro
Ok honestly. Even if he didn’t get into college u, that isn’t true. Any community college would’ve taken him.
True, it was harsh and rude from his parents to give him an apparently poor option. However, Rigby didn't care about an university degree, what he cared was more about still been with his best friend and not been separated from him, one of the best things in his life.

Ngl these two really have a toxic friendship; One's a dude that'd kill his own friend in the heat of the moment just for a girl, and the other is willing to take his friend's career into jeopardy just for the sake of being able to stay with him
I can't imagine what you would think about Daria and Jane's friendship. Or Dipper and Mabel's. Or recently with Anne, Sasha and Marcy.
@@angief6364 Dipper and Mabel are still kids though so comparisons don't really work, here Rigby is about to get out of highschool so he's significantly older than the twins.
@@goodolnonamee true but for dipper and mabel it was about growing up and finding purpose mabel didn’t want to say goodbye to the things she loved and wanted it to last Dipper was ready to move past it and have new future opportunities with Ford
Stupid arguments. I'm not disagreeing that their friendship is toxic because it kind of is but the 2 points you made suck.
When you mentioned Mordecai killed Rigby for a girl which was true, but he's did immediately feel bad and do everything he could to being him back. And the thing with Rigby sabotaging Mordecai, he only did that because he thought there would be no other way to be friends. Throughout the series Rigbys only really cared about their friendship.
@@cryptidstudios8194 How do they suck though? I know that both of them did some shitty thing to each other that were even so far as to ruin both their lives, but even if they did try fixing it later on it doesn't necessarily stem away the fact that they're toxic to each other to the point that those things even happened in the first place. Also I don't necessarily see the point of bringing up that Rigby was focusing on their friendship for most of the show since it doesn't change that it's still pretty toxic
I think the worst part are the tears in Mordecai's eyes when he reads the letter.
Poor baby mordicai
Rigby did the right thing anyway.

@@buttonsmasherz53gaming85 I guess, but there was a bigger picture that Rigby had to see. He shouldn't have neglected his studies basing his enrollment on a college slogan.
@@rafaelzavros4391 That's right, and that is a life lesson we have to learn: you and your friends have to part ways in life sooner or later, and even though we can still be in touch via Internet, Whatsapp, social networks, etc., one has to do his/her own life and stop living in the past.
However, teen Rigby couldn't understand it, and the present Rigby has just recently started to get it.
It's the concept that, Rigby feared that Mordekai would end up going to College because that was his dream to do Art? If I remember. So he would end up leaving Rigby being the whole forshadow with the Pizza man saying they stop being friends. Now, the reason he switched it saying he failed and Rigby got accepted is so Rigby could say that he decline the acceptance letter and just end up staying Mordecai as a good friend.

After what rigby pulled everything mordecai did was justified in my opinion
@@mantgrta9728 Difference here is that Mordecai did it completely by accident, the only reason why he pushed Rigby was because Rigby pushed first. At to the fact that Rigby antagonised him throughout the episode it culminated to what happened.
Mordecai ruined his own chances at success since he clearly didn’t apply for any back up schools and quit art school over a stupid reason. Rigby is to blame for mordo not going to that specific college but he is not responsible for how mordo’s whole life turned out

Truedat
If Rigby had tell the truth would mordecai still think about the time machine?
Yes they would.
I said that because he will feel awful if he didn’t get in and feel so lonely without his best friend and that’s my theory why Mordecai is thinking of the time machine so it can help Rigby get good grades for him to get in.
Mordecai was still young, naive and still didn't know about the hardships of the real life, very idealistic, like everyone of us when we have been children, teenager and putting values like friendship very high in a pedestal. So yeah, he could have supported him, so both could go and neither of them left behind, but neither of them going to University wasn't going to be the option.
The problem could have been if his parents or another adult considered to be a wise one "put some sense" into him before they put the plan in motion.
I remember when my little bro and I wanted to enter to a foreign languaje school so we could both learn japanese together and another language apart. My brother got rejected due his age, he got angry and frustrated, I felt him and I was going to renounce even though I got admitted. However, my mom insisted me that no, that I shouldn't reject the opportunity I had, that my brother's problem was going to be checked by her and my dad if necessary. In the end, both entered, but even though my bro couldn't enter, I was already convinced in putting more emphasis in my academic development than in caring for our siblings' bond.
@@angief6364 I'm happy that you could value your academic life and also your sibling bond.
Probably
Even if Rigby did go to a different university i’m pretty sure Mordecai and Rigby would still be friends by contact and seeing each other on holidays
Well I think it is implied that it is hard for Rigby to find a friend. Even if he could get in contact in mordecai often, he would still be lonely and in a mess without him
Idk that is just my opinion lol
Exactly
Not necessarily. After I went off to college I hardly saw any of my old HS friends ever again. I tried staying in touch. I really did. But after a while we grew so far apart that I just stopped trying.
@@grovercleavland2698 Right, life goes on, no matter which solutions or technological devices are created to shorten the distance and still keep in touch virtually with old friends and acquaintances, in the end, we humans need real contact with others and long distant relashionships are felt not so real and fade away.
About Mordecai an Rigby been together, well, we have watched and heard in the series that Mordo finished HS, he entered to the Art School, Rigby just crashed with him, and after Mordo flunked out, both applied for their jobs at the park (in fact, Mordo got both jobs for him and Rigby because Rigby was lazy to fill the form). In short, Rigby has followed Mordecai everywhere.
Exactly 🎓 Just Because You’re Not Going To The Same University 👩🏫 It Doesn’t Mean 😭 Your Never Gonna See 👀 Him Again ?
Rigby cant get into College U but he can help build a time machine
The logic
I'm pretty sure Rigby is extremely bright but just never studied a day in his life
@@theshermantanker7043if that was the case then he wouldn't be dumb in the first place, I know a shit ton of people myself included who can do academics easy without studying for shit. A smart person will be smart on his own field regardless, if someone's dumb they're just dumb, plain and simple
It's shown in the show that Rigby is actually pretty intelligent and cunning enough to come up with some pretty inventive schemes to fool Benson..... he's just extremely lazy.
A lot of people don't understand how terrible Rigby is, sure Mordecai killed him because he was a simp but he immediately regrets it while Rigby just did it on him for how many years basically crippling his future career with almost to no remorse
Mordecai killed Rigby by accident in the episode, It's Time. He said, "No! That's not what I meant! That's not what I meant!" I'm sure that if you watched the episode, you'll know what I mean.
This singular moment captures why I like mordecai as a character more. Despite mordecai being an absolute simp and making many, many selfish decisions (including accidentally killing rigby which he instantly regretted and fixed) rigby intentionally and unapologetically held mordecai back. He crippled his future because he's lazy and self-centered. Mordecai treats Rigby like a tool with his selfish decisions, and does hurt Rigby due to this, but he never did anything to hold Rigby back, he let rigby do his thing, which was be a waste of space. You could say that they're both terrible people, but at least mordecai is slightly less terrible
Mordecai literally murdered his best friend. Nothing Rigby did holds a candle to that.
Ok, I don't get the simp part, where in the show was Mordecai ever a simp? Last I remember of the show, the girls he was with were interested in him, he just kept making stupid choices. Last I remembered, simps were people giving but not receiving attention.
@@kotaro07 i think the definition of a simp falls more along the line of "people who go out of their way to do stupid things for a woman" which he does a lot, like that time he traveled like a state over to give margret a sweater, or buying 2 tickets for a concert he didn't want to go to just to see her, or having rigby cover for him at work to go on dates with CJ instead of doing his own work.
@@christianariza3869 yes mordicai did kill rigby at the time he was blind with Anger and didn’t know that he could have died just saying
Not really, Mordecai and Rigby are very equal in all they did to each other. I’d say the college acceptance letter is about equal to the undid-killing that Mordecai did to Rigby. They both did really bad things to each other, like the “punchies” episode for Mordecai & the “do me a solid” episode for Rigby. They most eventually took responsibility for both of them, with Mordecai fixing his mistake with Father Time and Rigby literally leading the park gang to save the world and then was ready to sacrifice himself to finish saving it.
Mordecai completely took advantage of the fact that Rigby was not as book-smart or as strong as him in the earlier seasons and actively felt resentful of Rigby when he tried to improve himself in the later seasons.
Mordecai definitely had a superiority complex over Rigby and straight up used Rigby as a cover-up to hide his issues or the severity of what he does. It’s why people in the earlier seasons preferred Mordecai for the most part. The show also purposefully extenuated this by making Rigby the complete park underdog for pretty much most of the entire show before the space season.
Remember when he got kinda mad at Rigby that one episode for hanging out with Eileen without him, after the earliest seasons when he would leave Rigby to go hang with Margaret & CJ? Remember the “lift with your back” episode where Mordecai completely disregarded everything Rigby has covered and done for him and basically stated that he is useless without him?
You can make a case that Mordecai may actually be objectively worse because he knew he was taking advantage of Rigby, Rigby grew up in a neglectful home in the shadow of his brother, started to act out for attention in school, and never was even given the opportunity to get the help he needed. He gave up on himself somewhere along the way.
Also,Rigby had more honest intentions throwing away the acceptance letter than Mordecai killing him. At least Rigby was trying to save their friendship. (but he definitely went about it all the wrong way for sure) Mordecai straight pushed him for the sake of his ego without a second thought beforehand.
(Also, I like & relate to Mordecai more actually, but I try to look at things unbiased as possible when I study it)
"Dude I didn't get in."
That damn line always hurts
Rigby’s the reason why this entire show happened.
I hate the fact the present Rigby is being a Hippocrate saying to the past Rigby that he had to tell Mordecai the truth but he didn't even try to explain it to mordecai himself
I think he was mostly just tryna alter the past so that the “lie” wouldn’t last until their presence.
I know, what Rigby did was horrible, and there's no justification to that, however, we HAVE to take into account how they've wrote the rejection letter. They literally destroyed him in every single way possible and shat down every single slightest hope he had of becoming someone. The way it was written, nowadays it can even lead into a lawsuit, because they were unnecessarily cruel. They could have just said "we've rejected you, even if it's against our policy, sorry" but instead they proceeded to explain how he's a failure in life and that probably he'll never ever become someone in life, and knowing how much he fanboyed that university, makes the damage even bigger.
This made Rigby completely snap, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have done this if he wasn't burned that hard by the letter. Remember how everyone reacted to the letter? Even future Mordecai felt bad for Rigby and all his hate for him banished after hearing it, kind of reminds me of the edd ed ' eddy movie, where everyone wanted to kill the edds, but by watching firsthand how much of a Jerk the brother Eddy was, they forgot about their hate and jumped in to stand for Eddy.
Yeaj, I won't deny that what Rigby did was horrible, but I think it was far worse what the admission dept did with that letter.
Well realistically, a University rejection letter would never be like this, they would just keep it short and not give you a reason. But the way Rigby's rejection letter was written is a way to elaborate what people think when handling a rejection letter. However I agree with you. Mordecai was completely justified getting mad at Rigby.
Surprised the admission committee didn't get fired for how unnecessarily harsh they were to Rigby
If Rigby was truthful Mordecai would feel bad and would expose College U's false claims "the College that accepts everyone" as payback for rejecting Rigby
Future Mordecai was thinking "Even Benson was never this harsh"
Or in Pizza Delivery in SpongeBob when the customer lashed out at SpongeBob and Squidward slammed the pizza in the customers face because what the customer was too harsh that even Squidward thought that was out of line

Why didn’t Rigby say that he didn’t get in after changing the letter? That way Mordecai knows both of them didn’t get in and they wouldn’t have done that stupid crap that started everything in the first place. Never really understood that part.
Then no movie
He'd still be lying about Mordecai getting accepted is why. It could have gone either way and still had terrible consequences
Probably because
1. They had different envelopes. Wouldn’t make sense for them BOTH to be rejected, but get different letters
2. Ego boost for him. If Mordecai thinks Rigby got in but he didn’t, he thinks Rigby is better than him, giving Rigby an ego boost
3. Plot
@@Digidestined701 aight. I think I get it now.
He was scared to admit it. Also, Mordo saw him with HIS envelope, an official envelope where besides the acceptance letter there were also some University brochures, supposedly papers which were given to those who got accepted. If Rigby had said that he didn't get in as well, Mordo could have questioned him about the papers he had in his hands, and then been forced to tell him the truth.
"But mordecai killed rigby later on"
Oh yeah? Rigby killed Skips over some cake
1:32 why is this so powerful
I fell bad that rigby dint accepted into college university
SAME!!!
I feel bad for Mordecai. Rigby did a really shitty thing to him
Because of that letter he’s too afraid that he’s going to lose his best friend
And it was supposed that applying to CU (not the one of Mexico City even though they have the same initials) was a piece of cake, an University where literally everyone could enter and with just the minimum requirements. That's why both agreed on applying for College University.
It's very harsh and sad but it's true that Rigby cannot be academic material no matter how much he tries.
However, that doesn't mean that his fate is sealed in being a loser all his life. Besides of showing good development through the series, there have also been successful people who either didn't entered into a University or didn't finished it like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs (and also Mike and Sully in Monsters University). Also I have checked that been in an university in US gives more problems because students get in huge debts no matter if they get the Bachelor's degree or not.
@@lightingdragon4143 He did. Pretty much screwed over his whole life for him. He killed an amazing opportunity for Mordecai.
I can relate to Mordecai… getting rejected by every nursing school I applied too twice within two years after all the hard work sucks ass…
You just didn’t work hard enough unfortunately.
@@H.K.5don't judge him. College is really hard to get accepted despite how hard things you've had done

0:28 Oh god, imagine if this movie was released today lmao
So Mordecai and Rigby lost there hair and stopped wearing clothes😂
I feel like they were just wigs tbh
Or they just shaved their hair
@@rainstorm2491 they probably cut/dyed it since as kids they have the exact same hairstyles as adults
Mordecai has been shown to grow natural brown hair both on his face and head (although other times like in Laundry Woes his feathers got longer and were treated as a beard)
@@sketchyjulia yeah, I feel like your theory is better. Since later on at the finale we see both mordecai and Rigby get more hair. Its likely they cut their hair during the beginning of adulthood
And Rigby never got any bigger.
They could've kept in touch from afar, but Rigby is just so _physically_ dependant on keeping Mordecai in his life.
Rigby is just too clingy to Mordecai
You have to understand that asides from Mordecai, Rigby didn’t have anyone else and was pretty much an outcast especially after he made the volleyball team lose the tournament.
Yes he had other friends like in his flashbacks with Don but they seemed really bored with Rigby and only got excited when Don was there.
His decision to change Mordecai’s rejection letter is unforgivable but there was literally nothing else going through Rigby’s mind than the idea of losing the only friend he actually had.
"The college for everyone, just not you"
Rigby couldn't just let his best friend go, so he wouldn't stay alone forever.
Can't blame him but at the same time this is how to kill a friendship.
I've had friends from that past that came and went and sometimes it's part of life and there are always new ones to make but Rigby only did this cause he didn't wanna let go of Mordecai.
@@Sonicthehedgehog2BlueyFan2001 Truth is most of the friends I had before the 2020s came and went specifically due to split ups after Elementary and Middle school. But recently the people I thought where my friends last year were fake and seven months ago they made it clear that they were fake because after I blocked and called out one of their friends for their toxicity one of the members got mad at me called me out and caused specifically two followers of mine that I know in real life to block me. Yeah, shit has been tough for me lately but at the same time, I'm glad I have someone that is truly a friend and I hope to make new more this year or going into next year.

College University has its own video game, that’s some good advertising.

goddamn this is brutal
I can’t believe what horrible parents Rigby has. His parents are making him go to Mexico college.
Bruh, they're literally being like actual parents. They want Rigby to go to college but the Mexican one is all that's willing to accept Rigby
@@xcx005 here’s one thing I would like to see rigby do tearing that Mexico college paper so that he doesn’t accept that college if he tears that paper into pieces that means he can’t go with the paper ripped all up.
Rigby mom is alright parents and rigby dad is shitty parents and wouldn’t let rigby borrow his car for prom and making him and Mordecai eats 4 boxes of cereal
@@tvalokibatman6563 idk I laughed at that last part but that’s a seriously poor parenting move
What's even worse is that instead of trying to empathize with or comfort Rigby in the terrible situation he was put in, they just disregarded his feelings like it was nothing to them and just focused on trying to find another college for their son.
Even if Rigby may have been selfish and lazy on countless occassions, his parents are ten times worse than him in regards to showing blatant parental favoritism, neglect, and an apparent lack of empathy.
I always wondered: what was stopping mordica from just double checking with the school
Remember at the end of the Thanksgiving Special where they showed Rigby’s dad looking nice and acted calm. . . Hmm
Yep
I feel Bad For Both Mordecai And Rigby
As much as I felt bad for Rigby that College U rejected him, I really hated him for what he’s done to Mordecai. Like making a fake rejection letter and replacing Mordecai’s real acceptance letter with it was the stupidest thing he’s ever done to his best friend. He didn’t even hesitate or stop for one second and think about how Mordecai would feel.
Watching this as a kid, i didn't understand a single thing
Now I'm kinda close on going to college, I'm completely scared on whats going to happen with my life later on after school is done
Me too dude, as a senior in high school, I have absolutely no idea what to do next. I've been givin ideas, but none are all that compelling
Yeah same, I'm scared af.
Im in my 2nd college year and at first I wasn’t really liking it but as 2 months went in, I started to get along with professors and students and I started to like it, I’m sure you will get used to it
0:37 rigby being a crybaby
I know it was his own fault for getting in but the rejection letter was unnecessarily harsh that nobody deserved this blatant unprofessionalism
Even though Rigby didn’t get in to College U he should’ve been a real friend and accepted that Mordecai got in and knowing Mordecai he would’ve tried up and down to keep their friendship afloat cause that’s what a real friend would’ve done
What if Regular Show movie had future Margaret and Eileen? That would be amazing 👏

Sherm: Rigby, you're going to college whether you like it or not!
His dad was an L. He was always harsh on rigby, like for example he cared more about his car than his own son. But yeah that was most harsh thing he said to rigby while on the other hand it was still Rigby’s fault that he got rejected.
It's not only the fact that he lied about Mordecai getting in, but to turn around and double down on the lie that Rigby *did* get an acceptance letter and chose to rip it up in front of Mordecai as a defiant statement against the people that rejected his friend is disgusting. I can't imagine how much that must have weighed on Mordecai throughout his life, that his slacker friend who couldn't even fill out a job application for the park they work at got into a school that rejected him outright. I get that Rigby was hurting, but this was incredibly selfish and damn near irredeemable to me.
if there we're security cameras at Mordecai's house and caught what Rigby did he would be arrested and probably be sent to Jail
I think the biggest question is did Rigby write the same letter he was given at College University or did he tone it down to make it less insulting to Mordecai?
oliv: no, come back please you have to tell them the truth
Mordecai's simping is tame compared not just to this, but honestly a lot of crap Rigby did.
And this movie presents Rigby as the good guy for some reason. The first thing he even does after Mordecai learns to truth is coming up with more excuses instead of apologizing.
The sad thing about all of this is that Rigby isn't actually THIS selfish in the series, he still had his limits
He literally did tho: one of the videos in this playlist is named “Rigby Apologizes to Mordecai”.

I used to think destiny is the answer to all of our problems, but then I thought destiny invented you problems, Real devastating problems, because of the letter from college university and the lie showed us why, he was the perfect balance between us and destiny, he taught us that life need the balance, destiny can improve our lives but so can people, if we focus on one expense of the other that’s when the balance is lost, The universe will find its way again this time with Rigby as our campus and he won’t make the same mistake twice
In the ending he promised he won’t shoot his friend with the laser and his friend promised he won’t shoot his friend with the laser either

Well, that's basically Rigby's own fault. He didn't put any real effort into his studies because he's always goofing off and lazing around. What he did expect? That CU would just accept him no matter what? Doesn't work that way in life. You need to show what you're capable of in high school in order to go to college.
I guess Mordecai accidentally killing Rigby later on doesn't look as bad.
Alright my respect for Mordecai and Rigby has dramatically decrease but I still love Regular Show

It's still wrong ruining others career, I mean they worked really hard on getting into college to fulfill their dreams
What makes them think the school will accept him? What if he does poorly there and gets kicked out, then what would happen? Are they really saying his fate is sealed? This just wasn’t the year of the Rigby at all.
It was as if everyone here felt that Rigby was better off being a vagabond simply because he didn’t take his education seriously one bit. At least he was technically in a better position than Stan Pines from Gravity Falls was. While Stan also inadvertently ruined Ford’s chance at his choice college, he was caught on the spot of the misdeed and banished from his family, before making a mistake that got him banished from his hometown and state and he became a vagabond. Rigby didn’t actually become one, but it was cold that Mordecai and everyone effectively condoned it. I mean I thought among everything Mordecai cared about, Margaret was one of them, it’s not like she went to the same school as them and he’d likely still see her if he was taking classes at the college. But then many of us would be thinking that Rigby should’ve told the truth to Mordecai, and Mordo would’ve found a way for them both to venture off on their own with something else. Mordo wanted everything to be his choice, not because he had to.
