The Filipinos are spoiled by high caliber of music. That's why in singing contests, the judges and the audience are hard to please. Sometimes the contestants have to resort to having some personal drama for the audience to talk about because that way they can be spotlighted from among the equally excellent and competitive contestants.
Efra's comment that "Regine is a genetic phenome" reminds me of how Lea Salonga said "Regine is a freak of nature". ❤❤❤
I agree with you, Waleska, Regine’s current tone is her best! ❤️ And I agree with Efra about genetics. That explains why there are kids who are very very young and haven’t had that much experience but excel at such a young age. But of course, the effort and discipline can definitely improve anyone with hardwork.

Gary V was diagnosed severe diabetes at a very young age and doctor says he will not live long like a normal person, he also survive cancer and I remember once he said the moment he knows he was sick all he keep in his heart is to sing not to become the Best IN the world but instead he sang Best For the world.
Eversince that day I know why Gary V sings differently it is his purpose in life to share LORD greatness in his singing.

Your argument Efra that you can only be as good as what your genetics will allow you to, does not apply to Regine. At an early age around 6, she underwent intensive vocal training with her father, who immersed her neck-deep in sea water and had her go through vocal runs. She credits this unorthodox method for strengthening her core and stomach muscles, and developing her lung capacity. Her father got this concept from “Rocky” the boxer who also trained the same way to strengthen his punches. He believed that same goes if you need to strengthen your vocal core.

Lea Salonga once said in an interview that she at times dreams to have the pipes of steel as she described that of Regine's. While I do believe that Singers are born, I also believe that some of the greatest singers are molded by time and experiences.

I wouldn’t say that talent is hereditary. It’s more like that a certain genetic makeup is more predisposed to certain physical abilities like singing or maybe playing a particular sport. That’s why singing is both a talent and a skill because some are predisposed but some are able to maximize their abilities with training and conscious effort at improving what they already have.

Back on those days, it was a trend in Pinas that great singers get to sing off their craftsmanship. Kudos to the music arrangement of great musicians/composers who did it. Singing as nature versus nurture, or is it both? It has been studied that the ability to sing is influenced by genetics & the environment. Efra has a point on the muscle composition of athletes in a particular sport.
It was said that your physiology affects the timbre of your voice and some singers are born with vocal apparatus that naturally makes their voice sound good. But there are many factors aside from genetics that create a good singer. Singing is a skill & can be learned too. Let us also remember that anyone can change their genetics to some degree through lifestyle & pass on that change to their offspring.

Hard work and training can help improve a person's skills up to a point. However, person's skill level and limitations are determined by genetics. For example, if an aspiring basketball player practices day and night, he will only get as good as his genetics will allow him to. He can train has hard as Michael Jordan but will never reach Jordan's abilities. This is the reason there are only a few superstars in every field

Agree. Some of these videos you’ve (Efra and Wale) uncovered - we haven’t seen too, so we are watching them for the first time with you. We know some parts were skipped because we sing along with the songs too (haha), and to be very honest, the short skips takes away my satisfaction when you started skipping some parts of the videos.
We dont mind you reaching 30 minutes in 1 video, we even watch your podcasts straight even if it takes more than 1 hour - and take note, im not even skipping those ads.
