To her oldest fans this is one of her very very BEST! This was the 50th year anniversary of the most respected conductor musician in PH Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and he personally invited Regine to sing one of his written songs as the finale. I had a friend who was able to attend the event and while at a vantage point, he described the performance as haunting and beautiful. He said that everyone was left speechless and that after Regine's performance, she was given a standing ovation by the audience, the orchestra and the Maestro himself. He also said that even the other artists and singers who performed before her went to see her on stage.
Regine was the finale and most applauded performer in the MUSICMAN@50 concert which celebrated the works of NOW National Artist for Music RYAN CAYABYAB. Sometime, Somewhere is not a musical theater piece. It is a song that Regine COVERED and MADE HER OWN when she delivered this "hypnotic", mesmerizing, heartfelt and phenomenal performance in said concert. It became one of her signature songs and it's my personal wish for her to revive it now, in 2022.

The whole concert was really iconic. The time she was borrowed by ABS-CBN for Bantay Bata initiative. One of her strong and phenomal concerts and it was done in open air in front of Nat Museum.
When Regine is on top of her element, EVERYTHING is hypnotizing. The expression of her eyes, her melismas, the twitching of her fingers, the air blowing through her hair, EVERYTHING WILL BE VERY MAGICAL. Specially live! Anyone can make you cry and relate to the song, but with her, it’s like you are being transported to another dimension! And she’s the only singer whom i felt the vibrations on my skin when she belts and like the stadium’s roof will blow off! The composer (Ryan Cayabyab) is well known in the Philippines and was in fact proclaimed a National Artist in 2018 for his contribution to Philippine music. This was his birthday concert (thus Musicman at 50). This was in 2004. In 2014, at 60; he held another birthday concert and had Morissette perform the same song and arrangement.
Actually, Regine did have some musical theatre experience in the beginning of her career! In 1992 she was in Kenkoy Loves Rosing, a Filipino musical based on a Filipino comics series. And in 1995, she played Maria Clara in the Cultural Center of the Philippines' production of Noli Me Tangere, which was based on the novel written by our national hero Jose Rizal. There's also the fact that she was ALMOST cast as original Kim in Miss Saigon, but declined the job since she didn't want to be away from her family and was already happy with the career she has at home.

If you've watched her concerts with her interacting with her audiences / fans, many videos of it and from there you will know why she is loved so much by many. Though she's sick, she would still perform (Silver Concert) and the people there have stayed with her, and when she promises a part 2 Silver Rewind free concert (where the intro was goosebumps, with Orchestra and everything), she did came back so powerful, even more stronger. So, I grew up watching her and until now I am seeing her aging gracefully and still performing. Did you know that she and Sharon will again have an "Iconic Concert" on June 2022? Can't wait to see =)
I think she's not just acting it. She's living and feeling the song, the lyrics might be too personal for her, it's like a secret love song for her. During that time Ogie and Regine can't be together. This concert i think it was in 2004. Ogie was still married to former Miss Australia Michelle Van Eimeren but there were rumors that they were going thru tough times. They seperated in 2007. But Michelle and Regine are bestfriends, no bad feelings. Michelle even called Regine on her show that she loves her and it's about time that she and Ogie live happily together and she loves them both. Michelle said she and Ogie just drifted apart and that he is like a brother to her now.

I agree with Efra. Regine has balanced theater and showbiz-friendliness in her performances generally. The main reason why Regine was revered probably by majority of the Filipinos is that she appeals to the masses (she can do pop and ballads) and she is critically acclaimed (highly praised by her colleagues and music intellectuals). She combined the technicalities of theater (she's technically influenced by the music of Streisand, Kuh Ledesma, and Sharon Cuneta) and the vocal requirements of pop music (vocal range, vocal enhancements, etc.). She combined those two worlds in her performances. That is why Lea Salonga is so underrated in the country (relative to Regine for example) despite her achievements. She is critically acclaimed and she has the the technicalities of theater, but she does not appeal to the masses because she does not have the versatility required to sing pop.

Though she's sick, she would still perform (Silver Concert) and the people there have stayed with her, and when she promises a part 2 Silver Rewind free concert (where the intro was goosebumps, with Orchestra and everything), she did came back so powerful, even more stronger. So, I grew up watching her and until now I am seeing her aging gracefully and still performing. Did you know that she and Sharon will again have an "Iconic Concert" on June 2022? Can't wait to see =)

I think she's not just acting it. She's living and feeling the song, the lyrics might be too personal for her, it's like a secret love song for her. During that time Ogie and Regine can't be together. This concert i think it was in 2004. Ogie was still married to former Miss Australia Michelle Van Eimeren but there were rumors that they were going thru tough times. They seperated in 2007. But Michelle and Regine are bestfriends, no bad feelings. Michelle even called Regine on her show that she loves her and it's about time that she and Ogie live happily together and she loves them both. Michelle said she and Ogie just drifted apart and that he is like a brother to her now.

I agree with Efra. Regine has balanced theater and showbiz-friendliness in her performances generally.
The main reason why Regine was revered probably by majority of the Filipinos is that she appeals to the masses (she can do pop and ballads) and she is critically acclaimed (highly praised by her colleagues and music intellectuals). She combined the technicalities of theater (she's technically influenced by the music of Streisand, Kuh Ledesma, and Sharon Cuneta) and the vocal requirements of pop music (vocal range, vocal enhancements, etc.). She combined those two worlds in her performances.
That is why Lea Salonga is so underrated in the country (relative to Regine for example) despite her achievements. She is critically acclaimed and she has the the technicalities of theater, but she does not appeal to the masses because she does not have the versatility required to sing pop.
