  • Hey guys! Sorry. This was ORIGINALLY gonna come out a week ago, but I was going through some stuff. I have no excuse. I'm sorry.
    -----------------------------
    So we all know about the different types of storytelling in media, Episodic and Serialized, but which one is better? Lets weigh the pros and cons not only in terms of television, but in video games as well!

    I personally love both types and think they both make excellent storytelling forms of media. Glad I found your channel. Love your vids.

    I don't think that episodic storytelling or serialization are better than one another. I think both have their goods and bads. I think that thing that gets on my nerves with stuff like this is when series try to have their cake and eat it too. Star vs The Forces of Evil, Steven Universe, etc. Are shows that started off as episodic cartoons that would have moments of seriousness but would mostly focus on day to day problems with the characters, aka, episodic storytelling, but than the shows started switching focus to serialized content due to pressure by the fans, it became very unfocused, sloppy, and poorly received by critics and fans alike. A lot of shows don't pick one and choose both, and end up with shitty results by the end of the day.

      There's no pressure by fans. Dunno about Star, but SU was a mixed serialized episodic show from the start and it was obvious. It's not having your cake and eating it too. It's just the 3rd type of story. Episodic, serialized and a mix. In fact, mix has the most versatility and potential.

    Hey, just wanted to take a moment to appreciate your work on this channel! I can tell from your community posts that you can get frustrated by how if you don't slap danganronpa on the the title and thumbnail you're not blowing up as much, but please dont let that hurt your motivation! All your videos, including this one ,show a lot of skill, you've clearly been working hard to improve. If anything, I'd just say to make your voice over louder and clearer, but it's still impressive stuff. I've tried before to make content like this so I know it can be quite draining, so please make sure to pack yourself on the back every once in a while. Anyway, I wish you good luck with everything thank you for the good content!

      Oh I'm not mad at that anymore! (I'm more mad at how I take so long to get videos out) Thank you so much for the support! This comment means a lot to me. :) and yes, I am trying to make my voice more loud and clear

    I think that The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles fixes your issue you had, but it is a bit late. I also think that it's a really good thing that Capcom put Adventures and Resolve in the same release because they were very clearly designed to tie into each other.

      I agree. I wish more games will do that

    One thing that can potentially make the serialized game series’ better is when the company behind them keeps all the games in a given series accessible. This is why I really appreciate that the Ace Attorney trilogy is available on pretty much everything, making it possible for someone like me to experience the series in the proper order for the first time in 2020 even though first game released in 2001. Compare this to something like Professor Layton, who’s games are for the most part locked to the DS, which caused me to have to spend way more on those games in order to play them than it did for me to just pay an easy $20 or so on the entire Ace Attorney Trilogy.

    • @Wince_Media
      @Wince_Media  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah I'm happy they did that with both the trilogy and chronicles. Danganronpa also did that too, same with zero escape (except for the fact they didnt group in VLR with ZTD which was very stupid since VLR ends on a cliffhanger)

    • @grape448
      @grape448 Před 3 lety

      @@Wince_Media I’ve only played the first Zero Escape so idk about the other two, but the problem with porting 999 for me is that the game was pretty much made specifically for the DS hardware, and from what I’ve seen online the port of 999 isn’t nearly as good because of how they had to redesign certain parts of the game that wouldn’t work with only one screen. The same can also be said (although not to the same degree) about Professor Layton, since those games heavily relied on the touch screen.

    • @Wince_Media
      @Wince_Media  Před 3 lety

      @@grape448 That IS true, but it COULD have easily been translated into other platforms BUT they went with the stupidest way to do so (VLR LITERALLY SHOWS YOU HOW YOU COULD TRANSLATE IT)

      Also, here's something not related to the discussion at all, but the first 3 professor layton games were remastered and released on mobile phones. They're still paid games, so no dumb ads and stuff. I forgot the pricing, but it's probably better than buying the DS games themselves. Just thought you might want to know that.
