Years ago i was an extremist, following philosophy of a certain group that advocated the notion khilafat was reintroduced and they have a khalifa over land of Syria and Iraq. I remember how staunch I was and how Mufti Layth’s kuffr used to be discussed in my friends group. Today i look back at it, see it as my personal time of Jahiliyahh/Ignorance and best of all, i am big fan of Mufti Layth now.

Apart from the clear refutation from the Quran if jinn possession was real the whole Islamic fiqh would fall apart. Everything can be blamed on the jinn which no one can objectively prove.

Interesting statement , ironically some do go extremes blaming everything on jinn, which is often incorrect. The other extreme is to completely deny the reality of jinn and their afflictions from them , including possession. That position is also wrong. We affirm that jinn exist, unseen, and can afflict humans i.e possession . I am researching it and would love to continue a respectful and educational dialogue.

@@markward3981 but this is the issue we have brother.
In Brazil Christians go to priests and in India Hindus go to guru’s. A lot of them get “healed” like actually healed. They don’t have tantrums anymore etc. Their illnesses go away.
      Now we can say:
      1) this is because their book and religion is true (as they argue)
      OR
      2) this is because the techniques used are the same techniques used by imams thus “healing” doesn’t prove jinn possession or if the religion is true.
We can’t say 1) as we are Muslims.
More on 2) now. Most illness, affecting the psyche, are not possessions but mental illnesses. If you bring children up to tell them
“my holy book has powers, if your affected, I will cure you”
This is implanted into the brain. Then when people “believe” they are possessed like Hindus and Christians, their books work on them. It’s the same for Muslims. This is why, when scientific studies are done placebos usually have an affect on people. It’s because the brain is a miracle in self-curing.
The point I’m trying to make is, just because “rukhya” (probably spelt that wrong) services work does not mean possession has occurred.

@@Yameen200 It is the ability to see and comprehend things for what they really are to the highest degree possible. It should be logical and rational by checking your own conscience, leaving little room for any doubt and thus attaining clarity above all else. To me, this is what "Iman" really is, we put faith in ourselves to see the world and everything for what it really is.
And most importantly it comes from a willingness to question all things no matter what. In order for you to deem anything as the truth, it requires observation, exploration and validation. It is esoteric science. It is the way of philosophy.
To be honest, of all the many sheikhs and muftis, which one has ever dared to question anything and present a more tangible and rational explanation? Perhaps not 100% but either way, Abu Layth is simply a breath of fresh air, it feels good to know that I'm not alone in this.

It was considered that these were the only two ancient forms of bacteria which gave birth to others and evolved into organisms which could be referred to as the ancestors of life. However, Woese published the findings of his pioneer research in Scientific American, June 1981, claiming that archaebacteria, could be rightly considered as the earliest form of organisms. He and his colleagues informed the scientific community that they were a third distinct line which preceded all others. Thus it is they who should be entitled as the most ancient ancestors of life. Woese and his collaborators continued to pour strong evidence into this discovery and as the ice began to thaw, according to Woese: 'Although a few biologists still dispute our interpretation, the idea that archaebacteria represent a separate grouping at the highest level is becoming generally accepted.' 6 Again he writes: 'This implies that the methanogens are as old as or older than any other bacterial group.' 6 According to The Hutchinson Dictionary of Science: '... the archaebacteria are related to the earliest life forms, which appeared about 4 billion years ago, when there was little oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere.' 7 But the author of Genetics a Molecular Approach states: 'Since 1977 more and more differences between archaebacteria and other prokaryotes have been found, so much so that microbiologists now favour the term archaea, to emphasize that these organisms are distinct from bacteria.' 8 THE ORGANISMS REFERRED TO AS JINN in the Quran seem to fit the above description. But, though scientists unanimously describe these bacteria as possessing the potential of drawing their energy from heat, they are not mentioned as having been originally created directly by the cosmic rays and blasts of lightning by any scientist other than Dickerson. The rest however, continue to throw more light on their various modes of dependence on heat for their survival: '... in undersea vents, hot springs, the Dead Sea, and salt pans, and have even adapted to refuse tips.' 9 On the issue of antiquity though, Woese and his colleagues have no doubt that the archaebacteria are the prime claimants. According to some scientists they may have evolved from some unknown parenthood simultaneously. But these are issues which fall outside the domain of this exercise. Whether the other bacteria evolved out of them or not is irrelevant to the discussion. The relevant point is that all forms of most ancient bacteria draw their energy directly from heat. This is a tribute of no small magnitude to the Quranic declaration made over fourteen hundred years ago: And the Jinn We created before that from blasts of fire (naris-samum). 10 According to the accepted scientific studies, direct heat from fire had to play a vital role in the creation and maintenance of pre-biotic organisms. This, in fact was the only mode of transfer of energy for the consumption of organized forms of existence during this era. As they multiplied during their uninterrupted proliferation lasting over billions of years, their death must have polluted the oceans while they decayed and fermented turning the oceans into the primordial soup. This will be discussed at greater length in the following chapter.

The issue of possession and supernatural experiences are sometimes psychological disturbances, or even a cultural way of dealing with psychological distress. Societies that don't have the scientific tools to assess and address psychological phenomenon, will utilise these techniques. We often use them on children because we know they don't have the capacity to understand the full reality around them. To say there is an Islamic basis, only shows us how malleable the interpretation is to the objectives of the reader.

If Jinn make us do things that displeases or disobeys our Rab’s then how are we held accountable for actions which we can stop!!!! This also could mean we almost entire human race muslim and non Muslims will not be judged because everyone will claim or blame jinns made me do it. With this view you can understand it clashes head on with most fundamental concepts of Islam and even direct influences on AL ADIL. If you haven't witnessed what those Imams have witnessed then how can you come to a conclusion? You need to meet up with scholars that perform exorcism and follow them on their adventures atleast for two weeks then you can decide if what you experience with them is real or some noty joty. Then you have a clear picture and you can now argue from point of experience not theory.
And saying if u accept jinn possession everything in Islam is redundant is ignoring what Omar Suleiman is trying to say. We must find a middle ground and not blame everything on jinn as most times its not the jinn. There are methods of verifying jinn possession, it has its symptoms like every other disease and recitation is the last step.
Saying jinn do not attack people in the west is another weak argument, it does attack them, some of them go to churches for exorcism and some of them are in Asylums as psychos because they do not believe it to be a possession and some give it other explanations and the victims suffers continuously.
And i don't know if you are refuting superstition as whole because in the Quran the sorcerers from fir'aun turned sticks to snakes or atleast made it seem so. That is superstitious also. Magic.
Then the verse of shaitan saying he doesn't have power over man, it's funny you refuted OmarS for using a verse that does not clearly relate to the topic and yet you did thesame thing. This verse is talking about those already in hell and who goes to hell except one who clearly made his choice on earth. There is no sin on those who were possessed and did something while in that state because they are out of their senses, so Satan knows it doesn't benefit him to possess people, therefore possessions are influenced by other reasons, such as black magic, when the jinn is in love, or when the jinn has been harmed by the human. Jinns never posses anyone to control them to do bad so that they go to hell, because they will not go to hell for that. C'mon you are smarter than this.
We know there are mad people, how do mad people have will power, how is that also fair to them? Stealing and running C'mon. The one who is possessed while doing actions is equal to the mad person as their will power do not longer exist. Though there are those possessed that still have will power as the display from the jinn is very limited. So nobody blames the possessed unless his actions are at a time when the jinn did not take control of his body.
Did you see how you quickly brushed off the verse about prophet Ayyub. It is difficult for you to explain I can understand, that verse is as clear as daylight as evidence for jinn possession. Need I say more?
You said the jinn would have just attacked prophets? How will you do with the verse that says nothinh befalls us unless what Allah has allowed? Didn't Umar suleiman tell you that sins are a door opener for the jinn? Do prophets sins? Well Allah allowed the jinn to torment Ayyub for years, so another weak point from you. The jinn even in trying to possess cannot possess somepeople as Allah did not decree that for them.
And nobody sees the jinn so you needn't stress yourself, the experience OmarS is talking about is not seeing the jinn, it's experiencing its presence inside of someone, talking to it, asking its name, speaking languages other than what the victim can speak, confronting it, reciting to hurt it, and after that the victim is free from any pain they experienced initially, Not only epilepsy as you mentioned. While conversing with jinn, they even give you the reason why they possessed that person. C'mon just spend time with raqis as a researcher.
How about the hadeeth that shaytan urinated in a Man's ear so he didn't wake up for night prayers?
How about the hadeeth on the dua before sexual intercourse, saying if you do the dua, Satan will never harm the baby. Are we saying the baby will be safe from waswasa? No, rather it is physical harm.
I can 100% agree that alot of raqis are fraudulent. But the ones you know are honest, you say they are delusional, those ones are the ones you should spend time with to come to an experienced conclusion whether they are delusional or not. But sitting on CZcams and concluding that is insufficient. Just like a literature student would say maths is useless without being and engineer.
    And Allah knows best.
