- "Liquid Shard," a kinetic sculpture by artist Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics, is on display in Los Angeles' Pershing Square. It was done in collaboration with students from the AA Visiting School and will be on display until Aug. 11. The city of Los Angeles offered the space through Now Art LA, a nonprofit dedicated to curating art installations throughout L.A. The sculpture is about 15,000 square feet and made of holographic Mylar and monofilament. The inspiration for the piece came from observing nature "and the feeling that we are only aware on a very surface level of what is really going on around us," said Shearn. "We feel the currents of air on our skin but do not see the larger movements.”

Music credit?
I would grab my yoga mat and just lay under that thing and look up
It won't post on FB with the 360 frame. bummer!
as if they're not sleep-walking enough already, THAT'LL really put people to fuckin' sleep. ... and the hits just keep comin'
What I'd really like to know is how did you get that guy filming to stand so still.
It's a new camera something 360 on Samsung where you can take a picture . & view it in every angle
Ur the one moving the camera
+Nicole Gamalo no it's the guy holding the 360 camera
It's a 360 camera it's like a small camera ball that films everything from every angle and you can move your device around like your there, you can even move it when the videos is paused
Patrick Shearn, I see you successfully appropriated the concept of the Mylar Rain that I created over 16 years ago and have been setting up variations of at every Burning Man festival since 2000. Good execution of my idea! Thank you for teaching me the cost of not knowing how to promote and protect my own art. Oh, and that damn bell sound is annoying. The sound of wind through the mylar is why I named my work Mylar Rain.
Boo hoo. Ideas and inspiration are in the ether. If you can't execute it before a larger audience, too bad. You lose. Maybe feel gratitude, in the spirit of Burning Man, that your idea was inspirational and beautiful. That's where you should be.
It doesn't take away from a project if credit is given to the inspiration behind it.
I understand your frustration....and yea, I do sympathize. But what did you do with your idea?
I hate to say it, but it's totally applicable here.
"He who hesitates, masturbates."
