Mythology says that Achilles was son of Thetis , which was a nymph of the sea , daughter of God Nereus! Achilles's father was Peleus,an earl in Thessaly ,so his mother was supposed to be a goddess! Is so great when he says to Brises "i know more about the Gods than your priests, I've seen them ...the Gods envy us,they envy us because we are mortals" maybe the greatest line in this film

Achilles being a half god while he says “your love for gods are one sided” to briseis, yet in the movie he loved her, and this girl who serves the gods is being loved by them. Brilliant and tragic.

more than 2000 years? He lived in 12th century BC during the Bronze Age, so you can imagine how great he was we still know about him, we Greeks learn for them in our books from schools.

This tribute reminds me that i am a warrior! A king amongst kings. It awakens something deep inside me that lights a lamp of everlasting light. A light so bright it flushes all oppisition and evil out of the darkness. It is not the size of the man or his strength its how much heart he has and how far hes willing to go to achieve greatness. Me...... im willing ro do anything it takes to stand up for good people who never forget the men and women who founded this country. Now is the time to take back whats is already yours! We the people of the new truly free world!

I’ve been reading the Iliad recently, it has been a while since I’ve seen this movie but it seems like they got a lot of it right from a certain point of view. Great film, great tribute.

They missed out Achilles slaughter in the river bed after patroclus died that would have made a great action scene

Really really great. Powerful & moving; only recommendation is that the instrumental drowns out the dialogue quite a bit, give that an adjustment and it's a master work.

When I designed Conners Angel degree- I did not factor in Uranus until much later. As I was not sure if we were going to expand Isadore on earth or Uranus. If Conners goes to Uranus for assignment he can't bring Buddy- the Gods did build a beyond lavish and fancy "Perch nest" at the inner-portal transport station- Buddy can hang out their and enjoy the facility while he waits for Conners Return.

when I read the Iliad I thought Achilles was just a mindless killer. I didn't know why he was considered the hero. Hector to me was the better person. Now I see he was someone that suffered immensely and fully and didn't shy away from his humanity. He was also the better fighter and just charismatic as hell.
Brad Pitt did an excellent job at portraying Achilles perfectly!
I hadnt thought like that: I loved Achilles. He always tried to prove his worth to a non existent father and everyone else. Saw Hector as a victim of spoiled Brat Paris.

Well, let me tell you about achilles, he had problems and he fixed them-physically. After that he studied the art of war. He was one of the creed. 4000 years ago people who dared baring arms didnt want to earn money like sheeps and join the workforce. It caused problem and ostracisem, but then again in times of wars when kings need you they let you know. Achilles is inspirational as he was the first rival to a system which is based upon a political system. Freedom is what humanity needs from a lifetime full of war. I have his genetics so i know he was a demi god: wine,women and art of war. Hmm..a sea nymph?? Atlantis?? Interesting it explains my origins.
