  • While the "E" ports (all TRRS -- four pole) on the PS5AC allow for easy connections for pure analog devices (like hardwired joysticks), they preclude more advanced controllers. Digital/Analog controllers like the Nunchuck, GlidePoint, touch pads, mice, etc won't work with TRRS. But by adding a Digital Potentiometer I'm able to convert the digital signals to analog that the PS5AC (and the XBOX AC X1/X2) accepts.
For this proof of concept, I'm using a MicroChip MCP42010 chip. It's dual pots, 10K. The A and B of the pots are ganged together. Wiper on each goes to X/Y.
If you listen closely, you'll see that I mess up MISO with MOSI. The chip only needs to be connected to MOSI (master out). Along with CS, SCK for SPI and two special connections for the chip (required!): SHDN and RS (shutdown and reset -- hold them high).
