Wishing you all the success! Your friend is right about the exam schedule it helps immensely. I'm graduating this year and at my uni, I had to hand in my dissertation before Easter break and then had all of that break to study for final exams. I had three exams and a presentation spaced out over the exam period.

I've only just finished first year and I agreeee.
They need to provide more support for housing and move the easter break 3 weeks later then just get straight to exams.
yesss that would make things so much easier for students! hopefully they change it for your next 2 years at uni!
@@Streetorvintage They can't move the Easter break because they can't change the date of Easter. It's a major religious festival, and the date changes each year (like Ramadan). So the break is at a slightly different time each year, and the University has no control.

I'd recommend Surrey. Placement year is their selling point and made me choose them over London. I did Microbiology 2010. Academically, a very good university.

I can relate when you mentioned about Graduation fee, it costs £25/person plus £45 to rent the gown and my uni isn't even doing it anywhere fancy... we're graduating in the lecture hall and it doesn't even have a stage :(

The gown rental isn't set by the University. A company called Ede & Ravenscroft has a virtual monopoly on academic gowns, and the University just passes on the fee they charge.

I'm going in September to study economics! I'll bear this all in mind pahaha. I've always been an independent learner so that's alright for me. Are the lecturers that bad? Or are some just much better than others?
I just got offered from University of Surrey and it seems like a great University with a very nice campus but after this video, I am not so sure now 😅 I do love the honesty though. I'm sure every University have their cons.

I wouldn't read too much or rely on everything in this video. It's a good video but you'll find some people who love it, some people who hated it etc. Everyone's experience is different. Weigh it up on all the sources you trust then make a decision :)
I graduated from Surrey then later did a master's at a different uni. Honestly they're all about the same.

@@unipitytedya2945 Hiya. My advice would be research it. So for example Tesco is the closest supermarket to Surrey campus and you could go online and compare it's prices versus whatever supermarket is close to where you might live for Southampton.
Next is accommodation. At Surrey you could probably get away with first year and final year in halls but you can look at their accommodation price ranges per banding in halls.
You can then compare against Southampton's Halls of residence.
Next you can look at student accommodation sites for renting private properties which is what you likely will do from 2nd year and compare Guildford (Surrey) Vs Southampton.
My friend went to Southampton (Solent). Nice area.
It's true some parts of UK are more expensive on terms of renting but supermarket prices including Aldi/Lidl are probably the same wherever (except London of course)

I enjoyed watching your video since Surrey just wrote to me as an Alumni for a donation and linked it to their email. In my day (1991 in take) we had just got email at the university computer lab, and I didn't know what to do with it since I didn't know anyone else with an email address other than my class mates who I saw each day. In those days it seemed crazy to send people messages when you could just talk to them in class. We had alphabetically ordered Pidgeon holes in the faculty where we exchanges written messages with staff and each other if we really needed to. I used the internet to help research my dissertation in my 4th year and I was probably the only one on my course doing so, since there was not much on the internet then except some museums and newspaper websites. As my topic was on the forthcoming Russian election, I could use the online newspapers for latest news, which had just started to become a thing. As for support it wasn't great but it was okay. I liked my Professor and the quality of teaching was generally very good. I shopped at the big Tescos which was brand new. I didn't go out much due to the lack of money and the heavy academic schedule which I found demanding. I can't remember how much tickets were at the graduation ceremony but I remember money was always tight.
Ela I am thinking of going there for my Masters Next Year or the Year after to study Communications Networks and Software and want to join the Uni Football team aswell.

If you want a good uni night life, don't go to uni of surrey. But other then that its a quality uni

@@sindujagnanakumar5392 He said he would recommend it, as in terms of exemptions it's the highest- you get a lot of exemption for ACCA and ICEAW. Also it's not similar to economics as they're a different & separate department. Hope that helps

An old post, you probably decided by now. QMUL and Surrey were my top two choices... I picked Surrey. Graduated already. Often wonder how my life would have been of I picked QMUL but I don't regret it. Either option is good :)

Jobs by the uni themselves? When I was there, you could get jobs with the student Union at the campus night club (Rubix) and the bar (Chancellor's), plus some of the convenience shops on site. Probably still possible now
