i love that he just assumes we both know marriage is in the cards even though he hasn't proposed yet. lol Gotta make an honest woman out of Bhaal's depraved little princess.
Depending on how you interperet the scene where he turns the player into a vampire, they are technically married already per vampire rules.
So the army would be more of a wedding present than the groom collecting payment for his bride.
I was surprised when I heard his comment in the Spawn pre-Cazador run. I'm hoping it's in there intentionally but I won't complain either way. lol

@@EverHazy_Games i was so distracted by the idea that he wants to marry me that i was complete forgetting what i had just done. I just sold my soul to my evil murderous dad/god and two of my friends are outside waiting to kill me but nevermind that, Astarion wants to MARRY me aahhhh lets GOOO!👰🏽💍

So he speaks about dowry in his both versions? Is he still planning to take the world down even as a spawn?😮
He speaks about it in all 3, pre/post ritual and ascended. Which is a little funny because pre ritual he still doesn't know what you are to him, so it might just be an oversight on the devs part. Or it may have been intentional to show these are the things he is thinking about. We'll never know unless someone at Larian decides to clarify.
Spawn Astarion - pre ritual is hungry for power because of his experiences. Spawn - post ritual, he obviously still likes and wants power but depending on the rest on your choices in the game and the ending you are aiming for, he won't necessarily push for it. I'm working on a video now for him, I've done all the endings... (I'm hoping to post it by Dec 4th but it's huge and the video I'm working on now for next week is big too. So I don't know if I'll actually make my own self imposed deadlines. lol)

There's a theory going around that Astarion didn't turn Tav into a spawn but into a vampire bride/groom (The way he turns them is completely different from how spawns are created) which would explain why he's talking like they're married.
Also heard that when he does this, his world only revolves around his bride/groom. Which is why he always says we because he's doing everything for Tav. I feel like the dialouge when he gets upset when Tav mentions freedom is more along the lines of Tav not being use to be the one being taken care of now that Astarion is more powerful. When you tell non-ascended Astarion that you will protect them he sorta feels a little weak. He appreciates it of course but I feel like Astarion would want to be the one to say that. I feel people look too into it to relate and get triggered but according to the theory, it's something that happens in the DnD universe. This is all just my opinion tho, this is my first time ascending astarion in my current durge. So, I'm sorta excited to see the dynamic between the two.
"Let's see how he feels about this response" - I honestly think he winces because of the fact that he's promised to be broiled to the bone and claimed by Bhaal. It's not something you're happy to hear, especially from a fanatic ghost. And not wanting to be broiled by exploding stars in his lover's arms doesn't cancel the aeterna amantes line. It just shows that "they lived happily and died in one day" is not his dream, he'd rather focus on the perks of living and sharing everything the life has to offer. He doesn't like to think or talk about his death in general. He's not a corny romantic, ascended or not.
He does wince, and I thought it was a great sarcastic response on his end. Which is why I included it as a joke. I thought it was funny given his declaration to Durge/Tav is given in seriousness. I'm sorry if it doesn't come across that way in the video. I thought the inclusion of the "lol" after the clip was enough to indicate that I wasn't taking it literally. I wasn't trying to imply he was being or is a (corny) romantic either. It's unfortunate that my intentions for including it weren't clear enough, though I'm not sure how I could have better portrayed it given I'm not adding audible commentary. :/ The only thing that comes to mind is to emphasize the really in "Let's see how he really feels about this response.", but since it's not audible, my intentions could still be misinterpreted, so I'm at a loss.
@@EverHazy_Games sorry if my comment came out as somewhat off, this was not my intention. I just noticed this "how romantic" line not so long ago during my playthrough and we discussed in discord this very wince, so I just shared my thoughts. 🫠
On the other note, I'm just so used to ascendant being bullied that I might be somewhat biased already when I see undertones in comments, so I interpret them in a one-sided way, ha-ha :)

I promise I'm not and was not upset. :) It's really hard to portray and read tone in text sometimes for everyone.
As far as Spawn vs Ascended, I've seen the discourse but I'm personally firmly planted in the middle. I like both versions equally but for different reasons. Mainly comes down to Neil just doing such a fantastic job.
when tav die it always feel so eery that your followers dont say anything as your down or even try to come close, it does put emphase on how your empty at that moment but i wish ,just wish your lover would say something or react maybe its just me who is put off a tad by it?
They should say something- in my game, whoever has the highest approval of Tav in the party will shout something if you get knocked down. Possibly a bug on your side?

Agreed. It feels weird knowing they’re just standing behind you watching calmly. At the very least, they could scream in protest or have some sort of reaction. I mean that’s the last person you expect to die. I also don’t like how nobody at any point has any reaction to Withers. A literal god just up and appears at camp one day randomly and everyone just goes along with it. 😂 Nobody in the party bothers to question him or at the very least, speculate his actual identity. (We find this out in the game but it’s always bothered me that he just appears out of nowhere and that’s it)

so.. the only way to get the happy epilogue party with being durge and a spawn of ascendant astarion is to not accept bhaal? because if you do you’ll only have the choice to take over the brain? correct me if i’m wrong pls.

It's been months since I finished all the endings but if I remember correctly...
If your Durge is a spawn of Ascended Astarion and you accept Bhaal, you get two ending choices (assuming you don't turn into a mindflayer). 1) Take over the brain and thereby everything/ everyone else. 2) Don't take over the brain, then Bhaal takes over you. No ending with Ascended Astarion.
If you refuse Bhaal, (assuming you don't turn into a mindflayer) you get two ending choices, 1) Take over the brain and thereby everything/ everyone else. 2) Get a list of options like one would normally get with any other romanced companion. Choose what you will do together or end the relationship.
If you are going for a completely evil playthrough, refuse Bhaal but after being resurrected choose the dialogue option "Relish: With Bhaal gone, your sins will at last be truly yours". Still evil, just not 'in Bhaal's name' evil. :)

What does ascended astarion say when not on a relationship? Bet he wont go "ah yes ull sit on my throne naked" 🤣 like what is the dialogue.
If ascended Astarion turns you, there’s lore in 2e that says he makes you a bride / groom and this checks out for all MCs.
A ‘bride’ is turned by 3 bites and taking the makers blood. If a bride takes too much blood, they will go mad so it has to be done slowly and carefully.
So yeah, AA marries you and Durge is as close as he gets to admitting it lol 😂
A lot has happened since 2E lore ;)
And WotC never had a tendency to clarify and expand in a sydtemstic way on what lore is canon and what is not. Nor fill in the gaps.
@@dominika3762 I don’t doubt that this happens, but the fact that the devs went out of their way to put three bites in plus one drop says a lot to me. If they didn’t want people to think that, why not just get AA to drain MC dry from bite one?

Yeah Ascended Astarion makes references to being married more than once. Calling Bhaal's army his dowry, referring to Bhaal as Dad. The way he turns you vs how he was turned, and he never compels you cause Brides/Grooms can't be compelled. Though I don't think the three bites that are shown matters because if you ask him to make it hurt, he only bites twice on screen. I think what matters is that he drains your blood and feeds you his. And the fact that you don't know what happened nor have Vampire natural instincts other than the bite. Spawns remember everything and have natural vampire instincts while Brides/Grooms need to be taught. The devs added so much info that leads to the Bride/groom theory. 🥰
