    A BIG "Thank You" Car D. Ologist for this great video! I am not a real mechanic but I was able to change the front brakes on my 2010 E350 by following your detailed step-by-step instructions. I would have never attempted it without your video. My next challenge is the rear brakes and I'm afraid I'll just have to dive in and do it without guidance but it should be similar. Thanks a bunch!

    Very very useful video.... watched it twice then changed the Front brake discs and pads on a E350 CDi Coupe 2010 with sports drilled brakes... all the little tips were great...especially the one to get the seized discs off! worked a treat... thank you very much for posting this vid... more helpful than WIS... one thing that others have commented on... i used a hand held orbital sanding disc to remove the coating before fitting... Pads 'bedded-in' withing 10 mins of driving... JR

    What’s The Torque Spec On 13mm Bolts That Go Into Slider Pins?

    try pb blaster or any rust penetrator from an auto part store. if its that bad apply wait some time re apply and use a breaker bar or a pipe that u can fit your ratchet in

    Nice video. But how do you lubricate your calipers?

  • @baisongTube
    @baisongTube Před 6 lety

    Did you lubricate the sliding pin? is it possible to lubricate it? I am asking because I have a stuck caliper and I didn't see how to take the pin off and lubricate it.

    • @glasser2819
      @glasser2819 Před 5 lety

      it's stuck because the OEM lubricant evaporated out.
      FYI: Use only silicon NOT "synthetic brake grease" swells up rubber!!

    The 18mm bolt should be 135nm and need to apply the threadlocker too.

    You need a magnetic mount for camera, rubber mallet will pop rotor most times, You need to clean rotors of all oil or contaminates and coatings

    This was very helpful. I only had to make one modification to your procedure. On my E350 (4 Matic with Sport Package) there is a rectangular Mercedes Benz name plate on the outside face of the caliper so you can't use the bolt method to compress the piston into the caliper - the name plate covers the hole. I found that a four inch "C" clamp worked perfectly for this. There is a flat spot on the back of the caliper (behind the piston) where the screw portion of the C clamp can rest, the fixed portion rests on the old pad. Turning the screw handle neatly compresses the piston. Mine didn't have quite so much rust so the rotor came right off. The caliper brackets are really tight - I had to use a long handle to get enough leverage to break them loose.

      thank good Benz has not switched calipers bolts to aluminum one-time use like on trany pan

    Well, couple things: I truly believe, that coating should be cleaned off from rotor?? Could be wrong???, and , you did not use any crease in pads/pins?? Otherwise, very well explained/showed video, youtheman=)

    Benz designs their brakes so everything needs to go!
    hard semi-metalic pads chew the soft disks... the FIX is:
    Akebono ceramic pads combined with Zimmermans rotors: no more chaos or dusty wheels 🤗

    You should have cleaned the protective coating prior to installing the rotor.
