Czech VZ 95 Camouflage Effectiveness

- In this video we look at the effectiveness of Czech VZ 95 camouflage pattern in a Woodland Environment during the Spring / Summer time (North Texas woods). This video will consist of numerous scenes where each will begin with a concealed stationary position (both with & without the use of vegetation), followed by a movement phase out of the initial position. The purpose of the video is to give the viewer a chance to see the individual camouflage pattern and how it looks and blends into this environment. There will be varying degrees of how much of the uniform will be exposed to the viewer. Some scenes will only expose little more than perhaps a hat, while other scenes will have virtually no vegetation covering. This video is a little different then my normal effectiveness videos in that the camera is moving opposed to a still shot.

I have to admit that you chose realistic representation of czech nature!
I would add more pine/spruce forest area.
These North Texas woods are strikingly similar to Czech woodland environment for which the vz.95 was developed. And this video confirms the main complaint most users have - it is way too dark for this environment, containing too much dark green and even "unnatural" black. Instead, we should have adopted PenCott GreenZone, which works the best (or maybe A-TACS FG or the new green Multicam).
They fade over time. Even so it's better to be too dark than too light.
You'd be surprised how well black can blend in.
That forest looks similar like our forests, but don't forget we have mainly conifer tree forests, so that camo have to work in both. And there is no black, there is very dark green. I think you are not right, that camo is very good and universal. Maybe some new pattern is better, but there is no important reason for changing vz 95 camo in near future.
@@MatthewSmith-to1hz Actually from what I've seen the camos that work the best are the ones that seem like they'd be too bright at a glance, where as the dark ones just become a big human shaped dark spot you can easily see from a distance.
@@Sergei_Ivanovich_Mosin I'd disagree for here in UK woodland and fields at least. MTP (a lighter camo) always sticks out like a sore thumb to me close or medium distances. Can't comment on far distances. I never have any trouble picking out people wearing it unmoving. I tend to wear darker camos like DPM, and I've repeatedly had people walk right past me without seeing me.

Great vid as always! Glad to see the Vz58 represented!
+waffenmacht Thanks brother.
NICE!!! I have used this camo before and it doesen´t seem to work so well in south europe (forests are much lighter here than in the east).... When i went to the Czech republic it amazed me how much darker the soils was as well as the vegetation, hence the color palette
The modernized version has something like coyote brown stains. It is a bit better but still need some improvements. It need be turn to lighter shades something like nkamo or slocam.
Weirdly enough it actually seems to blend in fairly well when you're hidden in mud and tree branches, even more so that when you're in trees; it's be interesting to see this pattern in the fall/winter when most the vegetation is dead to see if it actually holds up there.
Perfect blend for that backdrop.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
+Petr123 paco Thanks for taking the time to watch it!
This pattern works pretty well in California during the spring. Everything is turning green but still has a lot of browns. Posted up against an oak tree it really blends in
A lot of work goes into these videos, greatly appreciated, good stuff.
+Walter Palmer Thanks brother.
This and the Danish M84 are both perfect for dense vegetation imo
I have to admit you got me that time. luckily no one was around to see just how hard I jumped.
+Jordan Hoffman lol nice.
Great vid as always! Glad to see the Vz58 represented! :-)
S pozdravem
Thats a pretty damn good pattern for spring and summer east of the Mississippi!
+PlanetRigo I bet it is. I thought it preformed very well here in Texas.
I just returned from the Czech Republic. I bought a couple of pieces of head gear over there. I’ll see about getting myself some after market items with their camo pattern on it. Very effective camo I’ve found. Looks like an ERDL pattern, but using similar colors that Crye is using in its Tropical Multicam pattern. With the exception of the black. I really like this camo and it works very well in the spruce forests found here in central and Eastern Europe. If you are looking for more Czech Army Gear let me know.
That was a very good video , and yes you got me when you fired that round, I jumped out of my boots , but after I put them back on, I finish watching the rest of the video, lol Great job Brent.
+Rusty Nail Thanks man.
anytime, great video.
Hello from Slovakia, u have nice VZ 58 and camo. This camo used Slovak spec.Ops. in 1992-2005. Have nice day :)
Thanks.
You have the same florescent green foliage I have in my area. This pattern is nice with the bright green in it but still to dark, I'm talking neon green everything around where I am. Greenzone was the best I could find but it seems impossible to find anymore. Great video, definitely one of my preferred patterns.
"Oh, nice view, and such lovely birds too, lets raise the volume a bit" *BAM!* "ouch"
Nice vid, and nice around 5:57 mark too :D
+RSCIW LOL, love it
Very effective! Great video!
An excellent pattern at best.
Czech and Slovakia best camuflage
No this is czech camo
@@johnxairsoft actually its czechoslovak
@@leslovakwhat are you talking about?
@@gessuto6890 its a czechoslovak camo
great video as always
+Edgar Addington-May Thanks
in 5.57min didn't expect that :-) Great video, keep up good work
+Michal Nozar Thanks
+Michal Nozar That was pretty cool.
Bang, you're dead.
+Brent0331 this camo reminds me of the old ERDLS and the usmc RDF camo
I spotted him pretty quick, wasn't expecting the gunshot though, almost peed myself lol.
Good video. You had my tail most every scene. Best
+Tom M Thanks
I got the cold weather jacket...that thing keeps me warm when DFW gets in the low 40s and 20s.
Good stuff as always! That pattern seems to work pretty darn well. Observational point - more and more with my own testing, I find that most dedicated "woodland" patterns, seem to rely pretty heavily on shadows. That seems to be true of this one as well.
+Alpha-Charlie Concepts Thanks brother, I always appreciate your comments.
+Brent0331 Check your PM's.
It's good in heavily green environment, in Czech Republic, it's useful only during summer in some woods(woods which are covered with grass and not leafs) and in fields. During spring and fall, it's pretty useless.
I like this one the best. We have the same kind of tree ms here in va. Good vid.
+Beaneeman67 Thanks
In this video I learned that I'd be dead 75% of the time.
+Bulwark1911 Good pattern huh, I thought so.
To tame the muzzle slap of that metal folding stock on the VZ 58, reindex the AK style slant brake to 12:00 straight up and down. There is not a lot of room to cut(dremel) a new notch for the indexing pin, it will look like a gear tooth, but will work. OR just buy the Czech sty,e muzzle brake from CNC Warrior , it works too.
this works really well
+Scott Saylors I agree, I think its one of the better patterns for this particular environment during this time of the year.
shoud i go for this or pencott greenzone? (i live in the czech republic)
i think Czech vz. 95 camo is one of the best for classic forests (not tropical) but maybe it can works even in jungle
PS: our forests look mostly like this czcams.com/video/7Rp5cdj78QU/video.html and especially in autumn there is many orange and brown colours, so our vzor 95 pattern is really good for our nature. Some people saying pattern XY is better, but you have to know for what environment it's primaly designed.
or this is good example czcams.com/video/9ag6SeGiHjQ/video.html
we have dark orange falled leaves here from september to spring (most of the year), you really can't use light colour jungle camouflage here like some people saying here, check time 3:23 it's very typical look
Hey Brent0331 I was wondering what glove you use for greenside operations and these videos? I'm guessing Nomex flight gloves but if you could specify that would be great - thank you!
+Tom Eason Generally I'll wear USGI nomex flight gloves. I have a pair of German nomex gloves that I wear occasionally, they're very similar but are reinforced at the knuckles with leather.
The final tree line scene is something different and worth repeating. I'm not sure what the rotor craft sound was. Maybe a drone but it had elements of a flying lawn mower. That's humor boys....lighten up a little.
i had and sold a field jacket in this camo,
i didnt realize just how effective it was,
+neil castell Yeah man, it worked out pretty good. I need to find a regular BDU jacket in this pattern. I also have a field jacket here and its just too much to wear in this Texas heat.
Do you want new one?
thanks a lot bro keep going
+jolio sad Thanks man, there's more to come.
Brett please get rid of that slant brake on that VZ-58.... Get the Cone, looks odd but a Very effective flash hider,
Good video. Like the whole series. :) I would love to see test of Slovak VZ 97 camouflage. I would help you get those things if you need it. :)
Thanks, is hte VZ97 the pattern that looks similar in shape and color to the U.S. M81?
Yes! And currently Slovak army use unusual digital camouflage VZ 2007 / Les . with quite large squares
Ahh, nice, I've seen this pattern before and didn't pick it up because it very closely resembled M81. I don't think its effectiveness would differ too much from that and I already have a couple videos uploaded already. I'll have to look into the new VZ'07 pattern, thanks for the suggestion.
You are most welcome! I sow some problems with VZ 97. It have significantly brighter color and you have to wash it several times to get same effect as on M81. Or you can use it only in spring. :D But since I am only civilian I am maybe wrong. Nowadays VZ97 is used by several police units in Slovakia and if I am not mistaken by some Slovak Army units mainly in training. But same with VZ'07 - it is used by special police unit of ministry of internal affairs. We are missing some sort of order with uniforms here... you can watch some link for youtube video with VZ'07 if you would like to czcams.com/video/Cr95-WSEHmc/video.html
Hey bent just wondering where do you get these types of uniforms from like the non American foreign camo uniforms from cause I'm starting an airsoft team just wondering if you got any recommendations for websites to shop on
+Lukas Wright what type of patterns are you looking for, and what nationality do they belong to. cause id be happy to give you links to a lot of foreign camo dealers
+Lukas Wright Sportsmansguide, Keepshooting.com, Majorsurplus.com, and ebay are my number one sources.
VZ 58 makes it even better .
could you make a video with slovakian vz. 2007 camo
Maybe in the future.
Slovakian camo is same useless like they's ''army''there is no slovakian patern, just copy of american woodland.
This is really good camo for summer. Even Ukraine soldiers got some of these and they were really satisfied.
I like that pattern for your AO in warm months. Are you in the south east?
North Texas
***** I recognized a lot of the birds in your AO but some are foreign to me. I am in north Georgia. That Czech pattern would be great warm weather camo here too.
I cant help myself but for me is 95 step back compared to vz60. I have vz60 in excelent condition ( not destroyed by washing ) and we compared them to 95 and i have to say they are way better. If you have vz60 in condition how they were designed, they are still very effective. Their main advantage is how they work with light ( changing color). IR capabilities were shown in one of your videos, but if you will find good set of vz60 with early 60s, non washed pattern, test them again. You would be surprised.
I really wish you would start a go fund me or something along those lines so we could get you a better camera
+Celtic704 You know CZcams actually degrades the quality of the video. I've noticed that my original video is better quality than the CZcams 720p viewing setting. The camera I have isn't the greatest but its still putting out a HD 720p image, which isn't bad. I was at a friends out and they put one of my videos on their high definition TV, it was amazing. Almost like you were standing out there in the woods. Anyways, long story short, I'm not going to start a go fund me or anything else like that. I appreciate greatly that some of you want to contribute though. I'm not willing to accept donations, the way I see it is if my channel continues to grow, eventually it will pay for a new camera on its own.
Brent another great vid man , but how about a slow 360 of the camo or a quick snapshot of the pattern before you go hiding?
+AK Filer 210 Not quite sure what your asking, are you talking about seeing me front and back loaded out? Or just a close up of the pattern?
+Brent0331
a close up of the pattern I guess is what I'm looking for .
+AK Filer 210
like the tiger stripe video
+AK Filer 210 Ok, if that's what your looking for I always start even video (the title) with a close up of the pattern. If you check out the information box under the video as well I posted a link to camopedia where you can see some additional information pertaining to this particular pattern.
I saw you a few times, but other times you're invisible.
Where do you get your camouflage uniforms at?
+Artyom Kirilov I picked up everything for this uniform on Ebay.
Try the Finnish m62 pattern. Surplus clothes should be very cheap.
+qelleri I have two sets of it, I plan to do a video in the future (hopefully a two man video).
Great. Thanks.
You have to test the Swedish M90 Camouflage!
+Elias'sP47D-25 Flyin'Mayhem Maybe in the future, its expensive to acquire.
+Brent0331 Indeed it is, the only M90 clothing aquireable is really the real standard military issue. It is super effective in the "Swedish" forests, Thanks for the response and keep up the great content, lycka till!
Thanks brother, I appreciate it!
i really appreciate the effort you make yourself with all the videos and youre doing a great job, but whats the point of looking around, when youre heading back direction camera? i always have to laugh and ask myself why youre not aiming additionally. no offense, im just a nerd at my pc... ;)
+archi baldikowski The "walking" phase back to the camera is a movement demonstration. I am mimicking the movement of someone on patrol so that people can see how the pattern looks/blends into the environment while moving. As far as not aiming in, you don't patrol with your weapon aimed in on everything you look at. Patrols can last hours and even days, that would be a good way to be fatigued in the first 20 minutes of your patrol.

Is it possible to re-upload the partizan camo video ?
+John Lienju (Øne Shøt) "re-upload"? I have never put a partisan pattern video out there yet. I'm currently looking at that pattern in the future, I'd definitely like to pick some up, but I have not done so yet.
+Brent0331 Apologies about that ! Nice job with your videos. Greatings from France
Makes me think of EDRL.
It was based on it. The slovakians used something which looked more like ERDL, we instead went for more green.
I honestly love VZ 95 even though i am definitely biased because I am czech. I think our army did a great job with these... as teenager I always thought it sucked because I do not like woodland patterns in general and VZ 95 is as dark as any general woodland pattern... but it actually makes you trully invisible (not only in forests). A friend of mine posted an image of himself having light couloured shirt and trousers made of VZ 95 while sitting on a tree stump... Lower half of his body was practically invisible. It looked funny as hell... I started playing airsoft much later and picked american multicam thinking this is the best camouflage in the world... Well, it IS the best UNVERSAL camouflage in the world - at least in my opinion - but in terms of czech forests, it made me too visible sometimes - sometimes not. Problem of VZ 95 is winter and snow... Too fucking useless in such conditions.
you only need a "universal" Pattern if you like to invade other Land - if you stay at Home... let your army make a pattern which fits into your area ;.-)
Where is waldo? Vz 95 edition.
we just cant identify you, because the camera lens/video quality is not sharp enough.
It's time for Pencott Greenzone ;-)
SamTektzby No my friend, Greenzone works fucking everywhere. I don't know why, but it works lol. At least as long as you have some green around you.
+André In the future......maybe......no promises lol One thing I have learned doing these is to NEVER say NEVER. I kept telling people I would never have a Kryptek video until the prices came down. Well I found a way to do one by just filming a buddy of mine who had a full set. So with that being said, there is always a possibility. I like camouflage a lot (obviously) but its not the number one thing on my agenda by far. I'd rather spend money on more firearms and ammunition to train with (which is not cheap). In any event, what I'm getting to is one day....maybe.
***** "Never say never" is my no. 1 principle, especially when it comes to Afghan lol. I know some "men" that play Airsoft and use Greenzone, even stuff from UF Pro which is expensive as fuck but awesome.
I will ask them if I can send you some stuff.
Sry for bad English and greetings from Germany!
That's some effective stuff bro. BTW, are you wearing waterproof boots or are you really that much of a Devil Dog? LOL
+ThinTheHerd78 Waterproof boots are pretty much a no-go when patrolling in a moderate climate wooded environment. IMO you want boots that can take on water and pump it out. There's no time to stop and empty out a pair of "waterproof" boots that have just been submerged. But I look forward to Brent's insight on this issue.
+ThinTheHerd78 Hey brother, sorry for the late response, I've been out of town. Yeah man, I agree with Bruce, in the summer months I wear Vietnam style jungle boots with drain holes on the side. Wet socks don't bother me when its 80 plus degrees outside.
+Brent0331 I was sort of joking about the dedication of doing it for a video. Do you wear wool socks? I'm pretty much always in smartwool socks of various thickness. My wife gets a big discount on them so I have tons.
Camouflage is good. The main problem is that is made from shitty polyester fabric and uniform style is kinda oldschool and overkill with lot of useless pockets. Btw try to obtain modernized version of vz95, the camo gets some coyotish stains and become more universal and better.
Army Dreamer
Lone Wolf That's a little harsh. I take it you've never been in the military yourself?
too dark when is sunlight
Jup its for our enviroment only, we have like three cammo patterns that actually work well in our forests :). Way too dark and dense.
god bless america
convex
It's a Czech camouflage not American
Wow I guess the wrong spot every time!
+Eric Jesperson Nice, that's good on this pattern then.
