REDLINE HOT WHEELS RESTORATION - Aqua Lola GT70 - Zinc Plating. Today I perform a restoration on a beautiful Hot Wheels Lola GT70 that was released in 1969. This car required multiple zinc plating applications to try reduce the number of deep scratches on the car. I spent a long time working on it, I hope you enjoy the video!

Hello Fam, I like this video even though its not a crazy build. I had a nice day of chillin and fixing up the body work on that thing. I'm looking forward to working on the next project. Hope you show your support and leave a live for your ol' dad here. Have a great day! 🍺🍺👍👍👌
You should do a video on how to alter cars to make them faster
Still a sweet build. the finish is mint!
Hey how’s it going? Been watinching the channel for about a year now. I love the content. I was wondering though if I could make a suggestion for a build. Since you did the hoonicorn could you maybe do the hoonitruck? Hope to see it someday. Keep up the great work.
@diecast resurrection I'm not certain why you did not plate the base at the same time as the body? they both would have been plated well from new. of course the level of polish is not as necessary as the body bc there is no paint used. also using cleaned-up orig wheels are better looking than the repros. like the work tho. thx
Looking to restore a hotwheels from the early 80s. Any suggestions?
This old boy really enjoys and appreciates the Redline restorations.
Nice job. Keep up the great work!
Smexy. Redlines are what brought me to the channel. Thanks.
I don't care what you do, wagon Wednesday or whatever, I'm just glad your back!!!!
Would be cool to see some funky futuristic customs.
That's blue is beautiful.
Nice to see you going old school again.car looks great 👍
Super cool taf top😊
Redline justice - awesome
Love the red lines, especially the sweet 16…
That turned out so kool, that paint is on point.
“Cause he likes raisins!!” 🤣🤣🤣 Car is gorgeous! Raisin joke was hilarious!!!
Who allso, likes it when he makes long videos🖥️💻📱😁
Ole 2 scoops!!! 😆 Austin that was a great build.
Awsome!!! As always. Love your narration. You actually sound like my neighbor. Redlines my fav!!!! Thanks!!!!
You showed much discipline and restraint lol.. I would have been so attempted to paint tail lights and headlights and detail it out... awesome restoration my friend!
My God .....it's full of stars.
Enjoyed the video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
I'm 34 and exclusively collect redlines. I inherited a large collection from my father many many years ago and have been addicted since. I used to be able to find them for reasonable prices but in the last 5 or 6 years the prices gave skyrocketed! Even banged up cars cost $25-$75 depending on the model. I love watching your retso videos. You seem super down to earth and genuine. Keep doing what you do!
Love your redlines. Your patience and attention to detail are top notch
Your Lola looks awesome. I restored my Lola from childhood don't remember what happened to it. it lived a tough life apparently. I don't have a zinc setup but I got the tone off by dipping it in lime-away.
Nice restoration, details and paint job 👍👍
Thanks once again from South Africa, that really turned out great…looking forward to the next one. Stay safe babe
Amazing work, PERFECT !!!
Two scoops, one Jimmy 😁
"Why do they call him two scoops? Because he likes raisins" lol i died laughing
BEAUTIMUS!!!
BEAUTIFUL ‼️👍👍
Restomods are cool but nothing wrong with a classic restoration either. Thanks for sharing.
All that work for a nice ride
You should try some of your candy paint over zinc plating just to see what kind of effects you get a chrome looking blue would look pretty awesome
UR WORK IS AMAZING
Great job! I had that model as a kid and it was my favorite, wicked fast.
Can you do a Mopar week
Yes I can
Love the spectra flame look on these old redlines
This Lola came out very nice original looking. Great job.
Although these are hard to find, check this out, Hot Wheels got the demensions wrong in reference to the wheels.
A `66 Lola T70 (like all Lolas) are low to the ground (or Track). So only about a ¼ of the tire is below the chasis.
Hot Wheels has a whole ½ a tire clearance.
Here the trick (and I don´t know why) if you reverse the chasis (upside down and forward to back) Yeah it sounds crazy but it lowers the wheels to the ¼ of the tire clearance to the road. Looks great.
(Note: needs some tweeking).
Another way to lower the wheels on this Lola is since the wheels are on independent axles, you can put a shim between the axles and the chasis. That will lower the wheels closer to the road.
Dang son, your patience is amazing. Wow, I love to watch your vids.
The wire wheely, otherwise known as cheek poker 9000,(Derek from Vice Grip Garage)
Looks brand new...cool
Love when you do redlines !!!!! came out fantastic !!!
Big transformation!! Super Nice.
But that poor girl, either she is a marsian,a zombie or just love avocados
What a beautiful job it's Amazing
Awesome you haven't lost your touch on redlines!!
So satisfying seeing the bodywork coming out mirrorlike.
Love that color
You ought to have a "Weird Week", where you fixerupper some of the really weird vehicles Hot Wheels have released.
A whole week of three-wheelers and cars with 'weird wheels' would be fun too. Maybe a week of movie/TV tie-in cars?
I like the Redline Restos. Like the Wish they made this a Redline, even better. Be safe out there people.
Amazing work
Cool.
I do prefer the restorations to be period correct. Thanks for saving a part of my childhood
Nicely done.
Fantastic job,well done ,regards,gary,,Ireland.
Beautiful work love it
How about a custom 69 chevelle street drag car. Have it tubbed out? But you make it that way? Cut the base out and everything to fit the tires. I love your show btw... it's got me into trying this kind of stuff out. I've always collected hotwheels but never customized any. Ty for showing everyone how this is done.
Thank God!!!! I love all the original ideas that are produced by you Austin but there ain’t nothing like a red line resto!!!! Refreshing!
Nice work!
Looks amazing 👍
Just went through my vintage Hot Wheels collection for a car to restore, they’re all too nice they don’t need it lol a few scratches here and there but all original and pretty good
Very nice work as always love the pant Lee
Great video and yet another beautiful job! Nice to see a Redline again for a change.
great job as always
Excellent restoration job! Really spot on and the little fella looks absolutely stunning. The Lola GT70 first appeared in the Grand Prix series in 1969 in which was my all-time favorite Hot Wheels car; the Splittin' Image. This was also the time when Mattel started outsourcing the production of Hot Wheels to a Hong Kong factory.
Awesome job, what a transformation. I am dying to see how you get the mustang fixed and restored!
Nicely done Sir! Enjoyed the vid!
Very nice work. That is definitely some work to get the casting polished.
I left a “like “ could not find the live button 😜.Great resurrection and love and love this channel.
Do the 1982 Dodge Rampage! It’s a fwd car AND a pick up truck at the same time. The back has a cool little bike molded in the back too. I personally would like to see some “black wall” wheels on it.
I'm really liking the addition of the Coat Counter, but for us noobs (me) could you add an note on the screen about time between the coats? I know it varies between kinds paints, and I've already goofed up more than once. I'd be very grateful! Thanks!
Love your videos!!! Brum brum brum!!!
Just a suggestion. They make little brass bristle brushes for cleaning soles of shoes. I wonder if it would work well for what you’re doing. Seem like they would be the perfect size.
Just some ideas for your uploads.
Muscle car Mondays ( Any type of muscle car weather it’s vintage or modern)
Wacky build/restoration Wednesdays (random weird vehicles you build or restore)
Freestyle Fridays ( you build what ever but have custom paint jobs where you just go with the flow or maybe even take ideas from fans.
I remember having this one. Awesome restoration!
Awesome work bro,nice
Love the Redline restorations. Would love it if you did more of them.
Another one rescued :)
Your skills are incredible and that Zinc set up is genius! I think it'd be cool to see you create your own custom redline with a brand new out of box regular hot wheels!
Outstanding restoration Austin on the Lola ....., looking forwards to seeing Jimmy 2 Scoops ice-cream truck.... Great job 👏 👍 👌
What would be cool is if you got 4 or 5 of the same redline cars and do a step by step on each car so the first would be like before you start to restore it and stop on each step so you have a visual of each step as a showcase so from step 1 to finish
These were the cars of my childhood. Nice to see one back in the flash. Do you hit the panel lines and around the headlights with a dental tool to re-establish the lines?
Beautiful resto. Love the color.
Always enjoy your commentary. When you use that dental pick, how about some make believe dentist chitchat? 😁
Keren videonya..restoration hotwheel cool video tutorial
Just started watching, i think you should make a zombie out of the zamac bikini girl… by the way the completed car looks great!
Very nice 👍🏻🔥🤘🏻
That turned out beautiful!!!!!! How about a Willy's wednesday. That could be cool.
Dude she is Mrs Goblin!
amazing resto wish the oldies had more detail but hey that's how they were purist or not this looks cool
Beautiful restoration! Love the paint!
Nice.
Awesome restoration!
Awesome
Enjoy the vids, the customs are cool but I'm kinda partial to the Redlines, probably because they're my era. Look's like your little lady found your chocolate stash!!
Wondering what would be the next one on deck. This will be cool - I needed a little Diecast Resurrection for my Wednesday.... Thanks!
Check the inside of CarWashKaren's rag for some matching paint. Don't huff paint, kids. Don't turn out like CarWashKaren. I look forward to the intervention episode.
Wow amazing restoration. Wow just shows what some love for what you do shows. Great job
This is my comment to appease the great algorithm
very kool
Nice
The nail polish seems like little sister revenge to me. My hubby (who I've known for 54 years) shaved his sister's Barbies heads so in revenge we painted all of cars in pastel cheapo 70s paint.
And the restore came out EXCELLENT!
Hl mate you should make a coffee van anyway can't wait to see the ice cream truck
Dude, are you Bob and Doug's youngest brother?
I imagine you wearing a striped toque and red lumberjack tuxedo, surrounded by Elsinore beer bottles, while working!
Love how this turned out! :)
