If I remember correctly, back in the summer of 2011 the show Glee used this song on their show and Gotye became quite upset as the show hadn't asked their permission. They revealed that they seemed quite irritated that the song did as well as it did and was being treated as just anther pop-song.
Gotye are musical geniuses. All their music is awesome imo.
