Good video pal. The Royal British Legion was supposed to be demolished as part of the bigger plan, but I think it's been saved for the time being. 3:20 that ugly side of a building used to connect to the Reform Health Club, which also included Scrooge's Bar. 4:13 Natalie's has been going for years. I think the council want to get rid of all the brothels although they'll only push them further out of town. 7:17 believe it or not, there are people who live behind that door. 14:37 the old post office is supposed to become a hotel, but it has been empty since 2008.
The man with all the Blackpool knowledge! 😀
Thanks for the info mate. I'll be back in the better weather for some more videos. Everything looks worse in the rain 🤣
@@JustDeano Very sad place
My aunt worked in the Empress Hotel during the 60's
Id go to see my aunt and uncle from the late 50's from Kent
Hello Deano i am a resident of Blackpool an expat from Yorkshire for 37 years This area you looked at King Street Milbourn Street Cookson Street is slowly being bought up by the council as soon as their leases come up The whole area is being cleared to make way for a new university Many areas in Blackpool are now being cleared for regeneration thanks to the multimillion pounds of government cash Our biggest problem is absent Landlords mostly from the south of England who bought property dirt cheap and expected to make a million in the first six months and have now deserted the properties and some who don't care as long as they get their money from housing benefits Many from over seas that have different ways of living I love this town and is home to different cultures of people all treat Blackpool as home I hope this has given you some sort of explanation as to the rundown areas Hopefully in ten years it will be a much better town
Came here to say the same I live in Blackpool too
Most towns around the uk look like this these days its a shame really keep up the good work deano
Unfortunately, it's a sign of the times. Covid and online shopping and out of town superstores, has killed the high street, pretty much everywhere, you don't see green grocers, butchers, bakery's etc. Anymore, and little independent shops, can't compete with online shops.
Spot on Tracy. This problem is facing town centres throughout the UK. Add to that the council's funding cuts (Council's money from central government has been cut year by year sine 2010). Meanwhile, many shop landlords carry on hiking up shop rents and some refuse to carry out repairs. The result is that it isn't economic to run a shop. Covid, lockdown and all that went with it simply accelerated the process. There has to be a radical rethink about Town Centres, because out of town superstores and online shopping isn't likely to be reversed.
Money needs to be spent on Infrastructure but billions spent on illegals and immigration. Tourism is dying in the UK because we are becoming a third world country. In my opinion
your 100% correct
A lot of money has been spent on improving Blackpool, it has nothing to do with immigration, there are comparatively few immigrants in Blackpool & in the surrounding towns there are next to none. How do I know? I live there.
Cheap flights & holidays to Spain, Greece, etc. have taken the place of holidaying in resorts like Blackpool, it's been declining in that regard since the 1970's.
Blackpool is statistically the most deprived town in the UK & it has zero to do with immigration. Poverty, homelessness & drugs are the major problems in Blackpool & have been for over 4 decades.
@@dobr4481 love this super accurate and intelligent reply, thank you ❤️
It’s sad to see isn’t it Deano. Lots of seaside towns suffering the same fate, and similar areas in a lot of non-seaside towns too. Lack of investment both private and government, leads to a lack of opportunity, that leads to poverty and a loss of hope, and hence a lack of pride from the local residents in where they live. Travel to any country in Europe and you won’t see deprivation like you do in some of our towns.
Well said Greeno 👏
I come from South London, its only 55 minutes from Clapham Junction to Brighton by rattler, when I was younger I went down there a lot, I loved the place, clean streets, fresh air, good pubs, fish and chips, a walk down the pier, a few hours sitting on the beach, a few beers in a pub next to the station the 7 o clock train home and in the Green Man at the end of the 14 bus route by 8.30. Loverly.
I went a few weeks ago ... what a shit hole the place has turned into, its filthy, streets full of pot holes, weeds all over the place, grime and graffiti everywhere, pavements are dirty and greasy. junkies and beggars on every corner, drug deals going down in open sight. It was honestly like being in a foreign country in the Middle East or Eastern Asia. The final kick in the balls; I went to a shop for a few cans of beer and snacks to take back on the train (long gone are the train buffets) £3,40 per can for 4.5% lager , £3 for some stale unbranded crips ☹sadly .. Its all just part of the UK fast turning into a third world country.
Hi Deano, Thank you for the Mixer code and signed up to it yesterday. With regards to Blackpool, it has been in a long state of development and investment with many projects improving the area. In time this should all improve based on what I hear and see from the local council etc. Enjoying the channel and must get over to Whitby. Cheers Paul
Thanks so much indeed for sharing was really helpful and informative to watch and very upsetting 😢and interesting to watch very much appreciate ❤mate all the best x tash please take care
Appreciated this vid mate, many thanks. I wish it could be turned around again. I remember as a teen thinking why don't they put some paint on these places, at the very least. A hundred or so steps from the front it's all busted.
Nicest part of Blackpool is Stanley Park where Blackpool Zoo is located. There's a very nice large park with a boating lake. Many very nice houses too, very different from the centre which takes a battering from the salty sea air. Blackpool has a lot going for it, unfortunately it has many deprived boroughs & attracts 20 somethings looking to get drunk & cause trouble.
According to Jane of visit fylde coast some of the buildings are being demolished to make way for new developments as part of the talbot gateway project
Enjoyed the Blackpool vids,thanks Deano
I've seen worse, check out Wendalls vlogs.. Some of our seaside towns need flattening and completely rebuilding. Such a shame as i have very fond memories at some of them 😏 Nice to see you getting out and about more Deano, good job! 👍🏻
Isn't most of the UK grim now?
Nice 1 Deano. I do watch Stephen’s Channel “Mr Blackpool” but great to see your walk around the back streets. It just looks terrible. So much deprivation. I would like to take my daughters there for the pleasure beach and tower but got to be honest…. I’m unsure ….Smithy
I think Deano just walked on the wild side!
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool 😀
Hi deano great content
Loved the Blackpool adventure deano well done mush next time you should check out the trams especially the old school one , it's so interesting
Cheers Deano. Thank god you are there and I am not there in that weather. Would not invest a tuppence in that PLAICE
The boarded up buildings are about to be demolished - they have been bought by Blackpool Council as they are building a new University in the Town Centre next to the new DWP building you can see built - lots of regeneration planned for Blackpool over the next few years.
Reminds me of where I live in Leeds (Harehills) that is the exact same as what you showed in the video
All them that are boarded up are to come down and are to be transformed and redeveloped some to become the new New Blackpool ‘Multiversity’ - Talbot Gateway Phase 4 some others like the old post office in the Town center is to become a Hotel
Thank you Deano what a shame a lot of places are like this please keep safe get yourself back to Mrs Deano and daughter they will have missed you best wishes Sheila and family
You should see Collyhurst in Manc, me and a mate stayed there for a Wrestling event and Old Trafford tour. Fecking scary ( luckily it was red as we had our Man Utd shirts on lol ) !
Dean you should do some abandoned and haunted with coleen, have a word with her when you get back, safe travels! ❤
Some streets are being redeveloped. Not sure if some of these are included. Apparently Kingsway area is
Them building opposite british legion are due to be demolished... Cookson st is also due to be demolished for the 65m multiversity... the oldpost office is hoping to be a hotel. Whilst 15mins in the old blacks is also being developed after planning obtained.. lots happening
Cookson street is going to be demolished!!!
I hope Natalie's sauna will be getting new premises... it's my second home 😊
I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here …. Looks like all the massage parlours are doing really well everyone must be so relaxed 😂😂😂
I remember going to Blackpool once with the same mate as Manc and walking down a street that looked like Corrie and randomly at the end on some industrial wasteland surrounded by gas towers was a go-cart track we ended up going on ! 😂
The massage place has to be a knocking shop ! 😂
And then we realise that out of all the boarded up homes and empty businesses, practically none of them have for sale/rent signs meaning they're all part of some wealthy persons portfolio of properties and it's not even worth them renting them out cos the scarcity of homes is driving up the value more than they would make in rent. It's just disgusting...
All those knocking Blackpool is getting out of order now, if you visit any town or city in the uk there’s poverty & abandoned premises etc etc. The town is spending hundreds & hundreds of millions levelling up & as a resident I think k there doing rather well. Why not be different & concentrate your efforts on the 90% of the town / housing that’s fabulous rather than joining the bandwagon & knocking our town
I agree, Blackpool is an absolute gem of a place ! My family and I have been coming every year to Blackpool since I was a toddler age 3 and I still go back every year to this day some 30 years on ! Blackpool people are some of the most lovely, warm, welcoming, friendly people you could ever wish to meet. Salt of the earth type people. I love Blackpool, it has something for everyone, young and old . I have the best of fond memories of Blackpool from childhood to this current day ! People should not be so quick to judge or to down talk a place, especially when they don't even live there. I'm sorry about all these videos knocking Blackpool lately, I've seen a few too and I think it's wrong. Thank you John, Blackpool is my happy place and always will be ❤
Deano wasn't knocking the place. I've lived here all my life, and I think it's a good video that highlights the town's problems.
no shots of the little pikeys in balaclavas on ebikes, is there an upbeat part of Blackpool? 😐 ...
Always nice to get back to one's home town.
It’s cheap foreign holidays to blame. They need to encourage people to holiday in the UK to help revive resorts like Blackpool. Make flights more expensive. We need to look after our own country not go spending are money by holidays in other countries. Whatever happened to the 2016 Brexit spirit of looking after Britain?
(79) Well, this has always happened since human beings decided to live in communities. Some folk take pride in their area, and some don't give a crap because they just see it as a place to flop.
Might be grim, but to some people it’s home. They might be doing the very best they can. Sometimes I think we’re too quick to judge. Only watched a few minutes, it’s not for me.
Fair enough mate, i'm not judging, just showcasing. I'll do vlog on the council estate i grew up on, its just like this to be fair
We all love a shithole don’t be so sensitive 😂
Like Karl pilkington says about the pyramids in Egypt it’s just a shithole with Tesco bags and rubbish blowing about everywhere
Hi deano fair play to you for been out and about in awful weather.
It's the sign of the times .
I think most places now have a scruffier part.
Very sad to see it so run down.
Especially if your coming into Blackpool by train.
Ann. Cumbria..😊😊😊.
Yeah Deano please leave this kind of content to all the poverty porn CZcams channels. With their clickbait titles and just visiting places to take the piss.
Your channel has always been good fun and honest. Leave this stuff to the ones with less morals.
Had a couple of great family holidays there when younger but my last visit a good few years back was awful. Not clean, loads of drunk folk ( plenty with young kids) and generally depressing place.
keep it real Deano, leave honest ways to his business, we follow you for yours
plenty of new cars though
bond Street South shore off Waterloo road check that
It’s very sad there is two sides Blackpool the front and Back l have seen building left Derelict and rubbish left out side.
11k subs whoo hoo, u must be doing something right,
So many towns in the UK declined the same way unfortunately it seems little can be done.
This could be any town or city now in the uk. Blackpool gets a lot of bad headlines, most of them unjustified
portugal, spain, blackpool where would you go
Love that the 40p tax in my £1 hard earnt is spent well!!
This is very sad😢
Such a shame. It’s everywhere unfortunately. Not just Blackpool or the UK. but the world over. Who’s to blame? We’re all guilty but partially local councillors. 👍
Dean machine can you do these vlogs abroad 👍 reviewing scran ands hotels boss
Blackpool has a Labour council....what more do you need to know?
Isn't this 95% of UK? You are very lucky to even to get an actual house at street level with a door.
Sign of the times nowadays find most UK cities rundown back streets not just Blackpool all over the UK
so many of our seaside towns are the same, if money isnt put into them then thats how they end up, our weather dont help. our so called summers are to short for product
Because king St getting knocked down waiting to build a big university that's why there boarded up give them a chance all plans for that area where i live in so nice get good and bad everywhere you need to go further afield in blackpool and im a 59 year old woman i feel safe walking around at night
You tell me who is going to go into town on a wet day shopping... No one as it's too easy and far more convenient shopping online.
Do some research..most of Cookson street is boarded coz it’s been compulsory bought by the council so it can be demolished for the new University campus..just sayin
I’ve never liked Blackpool ever since I slept on the beach in the pouring rain 😃😃👍
I always wonder how the men can afford the brothels when the area is so poor. But perhaps they are not catering for the locals. Thank you for the video.
Think the council has bought all the houses round there and it's going to be turned into a university campus
It's all being knocked down around south king street !!
Blackpool lovely but the have to paint all the railings at the front
THE PREVIOUS BUSINESS OWNERS OF THESE PREMISES HAVE PUT THEIR MONEY IN, TOOK THEIR PROFITS OUT AND PUT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BACK IN AND RAN AWAY FROM IT ALL, PROBABLY LOADED.
them gates are so easy to break , I life in blackpool
Looks yummy 🤣🤣🤣
To make a new world you first have to destroy the old one 😟
Sad state
It's okay saying, keep the shops open, but as everyone knows online shopping is killing street trade.. it's never going to be like it used to be.
while you are in blackpool try the ardwick pub cheapest beer in the whole country 34 foxhall road near the manchester i am the dj alan
Is it still 1.80 a pint ?
People just don't go to Blackpool any more so shops and B&Bs can't make a living. I haven't been for over 20 years
There is no excuse to having empty homes, I wonder how many people the council has on waiting lists needing homes. The council is short sighted not doing something with the businesses giving how much business rates they are losing. Yes everywhere has this problem but no where near to this degree - this is plainly just a lazy council with no motivation to solve the problem.
Looks like beruit blackpool 😂😂😂
The councils won’t do nothing there part of the problem, there rising shop commercial rents so high that they practically quadruple there rent that business can’t afford the rent why ? , well they are where I am in London a family run lovely bakers shut down because the couldn’t afford the rent and a cleaners and a grocery shop .
Black pool has been neglected for too long its a shame
Does Blackpool have nice parts, the magic has gone for me.
For saying how run down it is, there's a lot of nice cars there.
That’s just what I thought.
It's bad...they should defo do something wiv them building's the government get enough money it's all nice in the front..not bothered for the Blackpool peeps only the tourist....typical! Also it would of been thriving yrs ago...😮 shame on them..all that money there making we're is it going that's the question 🤔
All candidates for HOMES UNDER THE SLEDGEHAMMER
The Holliday's in the UK are over things have declined people business people and people living in Blackpool are struggling and have been for some time I know as I have lived there please try and not judge people here as they are having a real hard time
All about the tourists
Best part of the town is the seafront. That garden you showed is literally a paradise for rats, there will be more gardens like that so imagine that
Looks like a Nuclear town. What a dump!
Can we thank the plandemic for this state of affairs. All non-essential businesses were forced to close. They never had a chance if they didn;t have some large workinf capital, and who has that?
I have visited sonw of the seaside towns in Northumberland and they are no where near as bad as that.
Doesn't matter where you live. Everywhere is a tip. We live in a third-world country now. Get so sick of seeing rubbish dumped on our streets and beggars.
Nah, it's only the 1980's calling back, no worries.. 🍻😁✌️
We have stopped going to Blackpool . Always went from kids being small to depressing to visit now.
If you stay on the front its decent on a nice day
Stey on St annes or in a small breed n b in gynn Square, much quite, value for money and access to transport.
The town needs big investment but the government would rather spend that money on immigrants
You are are aware that cheap sheep labour keeps england alive??? 😮
Blackpool need do one day a week removal for free ❤
I love Blackpool best place in the world imo.
Used to holiday there in the 50s with rellies
Now a dump with the hump
Don't like it, unfortunately, my hometown never used to be like this, and as locals, we've accepted the disgrace behaviour from out of town people and local council.
I'll give you some facts.
The conservatory government has taken 1 billion pounds from Blackpool authorities.
Local councils on the Fylde have had to take in troubled families from our of town to balance the books as they get extra funding for it.
The 200 million pound levelling up money has been spent on social care and immigration. None on jobs, restoration, housing or future for the youth.
Some good old facts, Blackpool Central Station was once the largest railway in Europe, 16 platforms.
2nd World War, RAF Blackpool was the biggest training camp for RAF personnel to join for our freedom.
It's an absolute disgrace.
Grim
Don't like it dont go back deano
There just asking f rats if u see Armenian kebab house seen few reviews looks good😊
Were u here coming down
I like Blackpool but lots more f it is a shit hole
Do ya research first before ya video this area is all getting pulled down and the council has brought the property's to make way for the new development around the area
His overuse of literally is annoying.
🎉🎉whats happening people hes still slumming it🎉🎉
I would rather go to Gaza
