I have made this bag several times, and I do exactly what you talked about with the front zippers - one long piece with 2 zipper pulls from each end. Not only is it faster, you don’t have to worry about the zipper tape being uneven and looking bad.

So since you've made this bag a few times I have a question for you. I have also made this bag a few times and I made the large size once the rest have been the handbag size. I am using the larger size as my personal bag however I noticed that the exterior back top panel does not require in the pattern anyways, foam like the exterior front top panel does and in the bag that I'm using it has started to cave in on that one panel in the back that did not have the foam to it. So have you had any of those issues or did you put foam on both sides?

I love using Cotton Lycra on bags. The prints & colors look so much more vibrant on CL then it does on CW & plus CL is a little thicker, then add Woven fuse to it, it has a nice weight & adding DL to the panels, it just makes the bags feel more professionally done & feel more lux. It’s a little more work sometimes using it (like cutting it and before fusing it to WF) but it’s so worth it.

Thanks so much for the tip on using DH. I was wondering if it would work or not (I’ve thought about using Woven Fuse to sandwich the DH in) but I never tried it. I absolutely love using DH on all my bags for the bottoms (especially for ones with a big gusset that wraps all around the bag) bc it gives the bag such nice structure. At the same time I absolutely HATE it bc when I push and bend my bags around or turn them, the DH always ALWAYS lifts up along the corners or edges. I keep it out of my seam allowance bc it just makes the bags to thick to sew through and plus it makes them look odd when it’s turned (like it sits weird).

Hi from Arizona! Love your tutorials! I can’t tell you how much it helps me! Thank you! One question though, with all the thickness with the decovil, how come you didn’t use your Juki? Just wondering. I plan on using my Juki for this as opposed to the Babylock domestic.

She's probably just showing that it CAN be done on a domestic.

Thank you for showing how to work through the difficult corners and thicker material. I am an adventurous beginner but with the right machine I can do this. Question, if you know, Can this be done on a domestic machine and just changing the needle to a 14 or 16 to accommodate all the thickness of the material, or do I need a stronger machine? I have a Brother Innovis 1750D (not that that means anything) I think is pretty much household use. Thanks for your time and such great tutorial Jess! 🥰

If you’re ever worried about layers going through your machine ok you can cut your interfacing smaller so it stays out of the seam allowance
