    Illidan's track record:
    -Leaves to study magic with the highborn
    -Recreates one of the most significantly powerful sources of magic in the world
    -Get imprisoned because Malfurion didn't like the Well of Eternity
    -10000 year of being in a dark cell, going blind, being mocked as a traitor (all for recreating a neutrally aligned source of magical energy mind you)
    -Is finally set free
    -Destroys the skull of Guldan so the Night Elves forests can heal
    -Gets banished for it
    -Frees the Naga from the underwater imprisonment
    -Is hunted mercilessly by Mieve
    -Tries his damnedest to stop the Lich King from being released, and is called a traitor for it
    -Saves Tyrande's life
    -Adopts the blood elves and saves them from their magic withdrawal
    -Frees Outland from it tyrannical ruler
    -Tries to stop the Lich King from being released again
    -Becomes the new ruler of outland, somewhat tyrannical himself
    -Is defeated by Mieve and a group of heroes
    -Returns to fight the legion once more
    -Sacrifices himself to warden Sargarus
    Good:
    -Tried to defeat the Lich King twice
    -Free Outland
    -Saved Tyrande's life
    -Destroyed the Skull of Guldan
    -Saved the blood elves
    -Leads the fight against the burning legion
    -Sacrifices himself to secure Sargarus
    Neutral:
    -Studied with Highborn
    -Freed the naga
    -Gets banished & or imprisoned
    -Restored the Well of Eternity
    Bad:
    -Takes over Outland with an iron fist
    Yeah.... super selfish right Malfurion? And totally insincere huh Tyrande? Seriously those assholes are such self-righteous pricks.
    Lest we forget Tyrande's complete willingness to wholesale slaughter both the humans and orcs when she first met them. Or how about Malfurion imprisoning his brother for 10000 years at the drop of a hat and then saying "hm nah I think he still needs some more time in there... I mean how DARE he make that source of magical power!"

      Eh not really. Northrend is a frozen wasteland of death. The only thing thriving there was the Scourge. And its place in the ecosystem didn't really do much over all. Besides Illidan was deliberately targeting Ice Crown not all of Northrend. The only real disaster I could have scene was the earthquakes maybe waking up Northrends Old God earlier than it did.

      @@humanfighter6251 He had to make a lot of very difficult moves and decisions. Those choice are never easy to make and even harder to follow-through. Being the one to make those decisions, accepting the sins he is forced to commit and bearing the grudge of the entire of Azeroth and Draenor is pretty selfless. There was no glory, no reward and he's not a evil person. Sure maybe he didn't actually need to do some of the stuff he did... but that's easy to criticize in hindsight, he had one very narrow perspective and an ultimate goal. No compromises, no mercy. The power to take down the legion was not all readily available, he had to make the best decision he could to stall it and try create a means.
      Yeah everyones an asshole, but those two were still suspicious even when he had conclusively finished and evidently saved Azeroth. They didn't recognize any of his sacrifice, Malfurion called him selfish even though he stepped on Illidan's toes with Tyrande. Didn't even honor Illidan's last wish for Malfurion to take care of Tyrande, she might be strong and seemingly independent... but shes very hurt, down a dark path and Malfurion hasn't made anywhere any effort to take care of the woman he loves. She is through-and-through a one-sided coin and echoes off with Malfurion. Mostly they can't accept he was the better man in this scenario. They are tragic...
      Great design by Blizzard though, awful people like that are hard to flesh out. It's really not easy to orchestrate hypocrisy like that.

    Illidan is by far one of the best written characters in warcraft lore, he is neither good or evil, all he did was to save azeroth and in process been branded traitor, demon and everything in between. he may have caused damage and pain in his way, but his brother malfurion have indirirect caused more when he stopped illidan from sinking northrend and banished him so he was not part of war of mount hyjal. Illidan is one of the few characters who do not have his head up his ass and belive in a force to save azeroth such as the light, rather he belived in himself and what he was capable of.

      Defending and protecting azeroth or the rest of the universe against sargeras would had been far different and worse,if illidan got executed,a fate which is mostly only possible in fantasy.in reality,people who seek better future dies as evil beings because the truest evil people never want us to unite and make a stand,like in fantasy games and stories...

This ties very well with the scene I watched in Warcraft III, when he took the demons power and than was cast away by his brother. To me he was always misunderstood, he's probably a antihero. As for what happened after he was cast away by Malfurion, till the Burning Crusade I would rather ignore it, since for me that's bad writing ... He's the hero we needed, but not the one we deserved.
      Malfurion is actually the biggest dick in WoW lore, and we have gul'dan and ner'zhul....lol
      Malfurion did nothing for his own people besides take credit for what illidan did. Malfurion dipped to the emerald dream, stole tyrande from illidan through his own jealousy, forsook his own brother because of what he did for his people. Illidan wanted to save his people, through any means necessary, and for it, he got imprisoned for 10,000 years by his own brother, and even then when illidan got out, he didnt try to kill him.
      Malfurion literally disappeared during azeroths most dire moments and popped up for deathwing. Illidan allowed people to see him as the enemy , as long as his people were safe, azeroth was safe, he was willing to give it all. He quite literally gave up EVERYTHING for people who saw him as the enemy. He saw the truth when no one else did. He saw the light for what it was, his will is the strongest lore-wise, he has killed and absorbed countless demons and hasnt been corrupted, not even arthas, the champion of the light, could do that with the spirit of one of the strongest shaman to ever exist.
      Now here illidaddy goes again, saving azeroth, and people are like "lul bye"

      Take some time and read some lore,buddy. Malfurion saved Azeroth on multiple occasions. I recommend playing Warcraft 3. Take into account what happened at Hyjal with Archimonde and how he stopped Illidan(who served Kil'jaeden,by the way) from destroying Northrend,which would've sunk the entire world underneath the tidal waves that would have been created. Illidan needed to have his lore rewritten to actually make sense as a character. That says a lot by itself.

      Malf and Tyrande are cold assholes, BUT Illadan was uber rightous and did do UNNECESARY harm, such as enslaving broken, imprisoning and torturing Maiev for the lols, and stealing resources that he didn't need.
      Read the Illadan book. It wasn't all sacrifices for cause, a lot of it was straight up evil shit with no justification.
      That's why you're given choices when you make a demon hunter.

  • @AdriusFrostglare
    @AdriusFrostglare Před 6 lety +56

    So lemme get this straight...
    Illidan: "To Malf, sorry we bitched at each other, but I'm still glad we're brothers and I wish you the best of luck. Please take care of Tyrande."
    Malfurion's response to this is to say Illidan was selfish but well, guess they were at least on the same page. Talks about forgiving him rather than realizing he should be thanking him. Not as bad as Tyrande, though, because at least he did break up a bit. Could be interpreted as him being in too much pain to really accept that his brother really and truly won't ever come back and that he wasn't that bad after all.
    Illidan to Tyrande: "Thank you for having faith in me for a while. You're what kept me going. I wish you and my brother happiness."
    Tyrande completely misinterprets his message on the other hand. She calls him 'contrite', but his remorse is over having to give up what he wanted, not because he regretted his actions. Illidan has always confidently known they were a necessary evil others were too weak to follow through with. Maybe the morality tunnel vision is so narrow on this allegedly wise, 10,000+ year old high priestess to grasp. Then she has the gall to doubt the sincerity of his FINAL WORDS TO HER EVER. Why? He has no reason to lie. What's he going to get out of that? She's never, ever going to see him again. She 'tried to let go of her bitterness' after his defeat at the Black Temple, but couldn't bring herself to talk to him when she found out he was leading the charge? Out of guilt? Distrust? This kind of cowardice contradicts the strength Illidan praised. And overlying this whole response is a layer of cold indifference I find utterly disgusting. Maybe she's way too far gone to care, but if that's the case, she really does not embody the love and compassion Elune is supposed to give, let alone to someone so deeply entwined in her history. The best interpretation for this is her keeping a stiff upper lip in front of you but breaking down later on in private. I hope she cries her eyes until there's nothing but dust left.
    ...Either way, what a classy piece of work these two are. Never were my favorite characters to begin with, but Tyrande in particular has officially hit my shit list. Can't even own up to mistakes and instead gotta take a big dump on Demon Jesus' last words. Fuck em' both.

      If you read just a bit more, you'd find that while he was a bit insecure(mainly because of how his family and original master Cenarius treated him). He really did always want to use his power for the greater good.
      He always aspired to greatness though, that was a selfish desire he was seemingly born with. But honestly, I suspect everyone does, at one point or another(although most deny it, both to others and to themselves. They feel guilty over being too prideful. Yet this is what drives most that achieve any relevant changes in the word).
      I could give you almost everything of relevance there is to know about Illidan. But it is a long story, so I will just say this:
      He was innocent of the crime he was imprisoned for(suspected for trying to once again attempt to summon Sargeras with his vials from the well of eternity, and defending himself from the converted High Elves that attacked him over these suspicions). Yet his brother set up what amounted to a mock trial and locked him away for eternal torture(he was not fed in his cell, he was magically kept alive, could not die, and could not stop starving).
      In spite of all this, he did not seek revenge when he got out. He even accepted his bannishment without quarrel, and was then still pursued by Maiev(and this was also allowed).
      Illidan had his flaws. But he was not nearly as bad, as the society that condemned him. I really wish the Night Elves split into 2 camps. So that we could shoo away those spoiled shits that condemned the one who saved their entire race three times over. I would not want such people in my Alliance. Malforminded and Tyrant-e can go and be pompeous pricks somewhere else(and take the rabble with them). They can leave the Demon Hunters, the grateful, and the considerate ones with us though.

      Dont get me wrong, ive liked every expansion so far except for wod. but i think there is a limit to how long they can keep it going.
      I mean the game is 13 years old, adding 5-6 expansions and the game would have survived for like 25 years.

      probably wow 2.0? you must admit they have plenty of story for 5 or 6 expansions.
      think about queen azshara (her powerlevel is as high as sargeras)
      think about nzoth (the last of the 4 old gods was never defeated)
      and then the whole new voidlords theme itself which just has started
      then there is the new lich king as bolvar fordragon
      same goes for sargeras (im sure we hear from him again in some time)
      and then there is this Necromantic theme (Death; we already defeated Disorder (Legion) so Death and Void is still a thing)
      and and what about Deathwing's Son Wrathion?
      damn... so much story. they even could do some different reality shit like in draenor.

      Question is, will people be bored of the current wow before they can release enough expansions?
      Ofc a wow 2.0 sounds awesome.
      But if that happens i would hope for a timeskip of some sorts, so we could start new characters and have a total revamp of graphics and gameplay.
      Start leveling to 60 again, instead of 150 or something :)

Tyrande's ungrateful ass, ordering all of us around with her "HURRY UP!" as she panics about freaking Malfurion. I could care less about your stupid love. Seems strange how this woman is supposed to be Elune's chosen "Priestess" when she sounds mad racist and comes off as a warmongering psychopath, unable to keep her composure and just wishing to rush in and slaughter all the orcs in Pandaria. Or putting strong emphasis on "Troll" when referring to Vol'jin in a negative manner. I imagined Elune's chosen to be more forgiving, soothing, gentle, much like Ysera. But Tyrande has only come off to me as spiteful, bitter, hateful, and angry since Pandaria. Get her out of here already. Malfurion? Literally just an emotionless bum. Most emotion I've ever heard out of the guy is when he's whining about his Shan'do.

      The reason why Tyrande and other Night Elves hate Trolls so much is because there's theories going around that the Night Elves evolved from Trolls which pisses the Night Elves off as they see the Trolls as vile savages and believe themselves to have been specially created by nature or some other higher power. It's basically the same as how Christian Fundamentalists react to theories that Man evolved from Apes.
      Still, I agree that Tyrande is being a warmongering psychopath unworthy of being Elune's top Priestess despite looking and sounding soothing and gentle. I get that she's been through a lot but still, that's no excuse for being a bitch. She must've been a good person at one point for Illidan to love her and I found it sweet that despite his hatred for his people for imprisoning him, he still fought the Burning Legion to keep Tyrande safe.
      To be honest, I wish that Illidan had been able to hook up with Lady Vashj instead as she actually cared about Illidan plus I found her to be an interesting character who despite being a Naga, was someone I could actually like at least a lot more then that bitch Maiev and even Tyrande.

    • @Aldrius
      @Aldrius Před 7 lety +11

      Elune is a war goddess and a goddess of the hunt. But Tyrande isn't purposelessly bitter, I don't get that at all. (Crappy writing in Mists of Pandaria & the mixed bag that was Legion aside) Tyrande is driven by purpose and duty. I'd rather they just fix the bad writing rather than writing her off because they've been doing a poor job with writing her.
      And Malfurion is certainly not emotionless. Being level headed and approaching situations maturely doesn't make him emotionless. The dude's certainly compassionate and wise. The fact that WoW makes him useless (which frankly it does with pretty much any useful character, because "Malfurion/Thrall/Khadgar/Jaina showed up and resolved the situation" wouldn't leave much for the player to do) doesn't make him a bad character.

    • @Aldrius
      @Aldrius Před 7 lety +8

      Illidan spent thousands of years in prison for betraying the Night Elves (to the legion) and creating a second Well of Eternity (which endangers Azeroth because it's a pathway for Demons to enter the world). Not for 'sacrifices'. Illidan was only ever willing to sacrifice things if it meant attaining more power. (Magical or otherwise) He's always been written as a hypocrite.
      It makes him more interesting than just being a misunderstood martyr.
      This is overwritten, but I do like these scenes. Ed Trotta & Elisa Gabriella especially do a great job with the material.

They do not break down in front of us,because they are leaders,and they need to be strong in these times of crisis. But you can hear regrets coming from both of them. If you honour Illidan,then respect his final wish. He left the responsibility of protecting Azeroth to Malfurion and Tyrande.

      They pretty much shat on Illidan with those words, and on his remembrance. They could've said something more inspiring, but no, instead of trying to interpret what he said, they stay on their "he did everything just for power! lolz! he is the worst m8!"-Trip.
      Also, technically, in the "first" crystal, where he talks to us, he said that the responsibility of protecting "Azeroth and all we hold dear" in our hands!

    • @PrinceVega
      @PrinceVega Před 6 lety +9

      FireSignd Like it or not,Illidan is a power hungry character. The choices he made in his quest for power involved enslaving demons and orcs to do his bidding. How was he better than Sargeras in Warcraft 3? I am aware of the fact that he had good intentions,but let's not be hypocrites.

    • @FireSignd
      @FireSignd Před 6 lety +6

      Well, fight fire with fire, of course he was power hungry, but he wanted to use his power to destroy the burning legion.
      And he is better than the burning legion in warcraft 3, he wants to protect azeroth and knows that you have to fight with unconventional weapons to destroy them. How else would he have been able to pinpoint the location of Argus? Also, it's not like he's dying a second time or sth like that. He "guards" Sargeras' soul for eternity. And eternity is a long time. :p Without Illidan and his methods, Azeroth would have easily fallen against the Burning Legion and everybody knows that.

  • @theobazinga8555
    @theobazinga8555 Před 7 lety +78

    With that Blizzard proves me right....Illidan is GREAT and those 2 Malfurion and Tyrande are useless!!! Malfurion spend his time sleeping in the Dream and Tyrande only pray to Mother Moon for help and to guide her!!! Illidan sacrifice everything and he never believed in a god or everything to give him strength!!! He walked his path alone with one goal.....PROTECT AZEROTH!!!

    • @altarium4220
      @altarium4220 Před 7 lety +5

      And for that goal, he got Sargeras into Azeroth, strengthened the Old Gods, caused the Sundering, nearly got all kaldorei killed, did horrible things to the draenei in Outland... so much for "walked his path alone"

    • @theobazinga8555
      @theobazinga8555 Před 7 lety +14

      The ''Great Sundering'' caused after queen Azhara created a portal in Well of Eternity and Malfurion's army attack Azhara's tempe! During the battle between Malfurion and Azhara the spell portal was ''destroyed'' Illidan seek refuge to Outland (Dreanor) after Ner'zhul already have destroyed most of the planet! Pit Lord Magtheridon use this opportunity to take control of the planet and summon demons! The remaining draenei have already being mutated and most of them were killed and attacked by the orcs! The kaldorei drew Sargeras attention after they start using arcane magic recklessly and draw more porer from the well of eternity! most of them died when malfurion's army and allies killed them in the battle and the rest were transformed into Nagas! Old Gods were powerful beings and existed before life created and cosmos shaped!!! Illidan didn't empowered them!!!It was Queen Azhara that made a deal with the old gods to save herself and her followers and as a result they transformed into nagas!!!!

      Holy shit you lost me with the Edward Bella comparison... Someone give this man a beer he earn it. That is a really well done joke! Just give Bella some edgy teen attitude and you have Tyrande
      Yeah it is true Malfurion and Tyrande have become so blinded by their love that they have become narrow minded and arrogant. I mean Tyrande has become nothing more than a racist, bloodthirsty, creature who would kill anyone or anything in her path... The funny thing is that Malfurion even calls her out on this behaviour of hers in WC3... While Malfurion is and have always been a arrogant, but give him credit at least he show more mercy and reason than the suppose high priestess of Elune.
      Actually if anyone ever gets to kill Malfurion, there is no doub that Tyrande will become as mad and vengeful as Maiev... Hell I think she would even worse than Maive seeing that even with Malfurion around she acts just like a savage Barbarian.

      True, though in real life the actress of Bella is a huge whore, as she slept with the director behind the pussy that plays Edward in the movies... So I say they are on the same level, the bad part is that unfortunately Tyrande lives forever...

    • @Amphitera
      @Amphitera Před 7 lety +2

      lol, who cares what the actress did? it's her personal life and she wasn't married to Shovelface Pattinson. They were never a real couple, they just pretended to hype the movies. Oldest trick in the Hollywood book since forever :P although in her case, it surely backfired badly.
      And before you namecall her, it's not a secret about 90% of all actors and other performers have to bang the producer to even get a job. Sad and gross, but true.

    This is just Blizzard's way to fix their defective plot. In The Burning Crusade Illidan was building an army to defeat Kil'jaeden and we "heroes" decided to slay him along with everything he had worked on.
    If they ever remake this game, things should go like this:
    We face Illidan at the top of the Black Temple. Illidan reveals to us Kil'jaeden plans. We face Kil'jaeden together with him, Malfurion and Tyrande. Illidan kills Kil'jaeden and manages to steal a portion of his powers. Illidan enters the portal to Argus before it closes thus remaining the power-crazed hero we love.

    Look, from our perspective it looks as if Tyrande and Malfurion are heartless to Illidan... But let's look at it from their perspective for a second:
    Ten-thousand years they've put up with Illidan's questionable antics, sure it has been for the greater good but at times it would appear that Illidan had clearly lost it. Despite what Illidan has said and done throughout that time, they were given valid reasons to distrust and disconnect from him... Malfurion and Tyrande loved Illidan, that is without a doubt, but they couldn't bear to cope with the path he had taken because it wasn't clear where his loyalties were.
    After the Burning Crusade, they were left with the death of Illidan and most likely had to come to terms that he died completely mad, after all, we were the ones that killed him. So they needed to make peace with that -- Then all of a sudden, he is back! And apparently on our side?
    How does one process that? I'd be angry, upset, relieved, but most of all, confused. I wouldn't know how to approach them and I can't just simply relieve myself of my duties to my people since I practically run a country.
    And then, just as quickly, I'm told that they have to go again... But not quite go, but also go forever... It is uncertain. They leave a message to me with no way for me to reply, I'd be a mix of emotions again! I'd try to appear stern and shrug it off, since I'd rather no one look too deeply into my personal affairs but in reality, it is all heartbreaking and I've got no true way to grieve or find absolute closure in the situation as there's so much left unsaid.
    Anyway, that's what I think that the two are going through. Tyrande, Malfurion and Illidan, they've all suffered in some way due to their bond and I think it is a lot more complicated than "ERMAHGERD, KERLL MALF AND TYR! THERR BULLERH MAH ILLIDAN BAE!".
