I actually purchased the silicone upgrade kit for the 3.5 which gave it the bag straps of the 4.0, so basically This meant I didn’t need to upgrade to the 4.0 as it made the other improvements not justifiable for the price.

Just bought a Clicgear 4. A quality bit of kit.
When it’s unfolded it looks quite big, with sturdy wheels and a wide and long wheelbase. I’m amazed it folds up into a small cube. Small enough to fit into the trunk of a Miata or MX-5.
I love the mesh netting, handy for quickly throwing things in while on the move and it’s is deep enough that they don’t accidentally fall out. Like your golf ball and tees while walking to the next hole.
Bizarrely the cup holder is tiny, maybe it’s designed for a 330ml beer bottle rather than a gym / cycling sized water bottle.
The umbrella holder is ok, as long as you make sure the rubber band stays over and behind the umbrella handle to hold it in place.

Just got a 3.5+ new $200. Pretty much just cosmetic upgrades and easy minor tinker fixes you could perform yourself bette,r to your own personal taste.
For example I'd replace the magnets with much stronger ones. I can just buy the rubber umbrella attachment. I prefer the bungee style ropes, over the rubber/silicone straps. They wear out easily and lose their firm elasticity, especially outdoors in direct sunlight. I haven't had any brake issues yet. Maybe some had that issue.
Overall, they make a nice looking and solid product. The design is good and I n understand the pressure to alway come up with something "new", but they should forget about that and keep doing what makes then good. The only thing more I'd like to see more of would be more color customization options for frames, wheels, tires, tire sidewalls, cooler bags and the list goes on.
Because, this is the Golf life.
If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Always wondered the difference. I’ve had the 3.5+ since it came out and love it. I never had an issue with the top storage opening or the straps to hold the bag, and I’ve owned dozens of different bags since owning it. The rubber card holder on it is a nice improvement, but I keep my score digitally, so don’t really need it. The adjustable bag holder top is nice but I never had a problem with different bags from tour bags, to cart bags, to carry bags. I don’t see a reason to upgrade. Nothing is wrong with mine. Never had an issue with the brakes, and I bought the updated umbrella tube with the newer rubber holder…

Just so you know, the things you call strings it’s actually called shock cord. It is basically like a super strong rubber band with stretchy material over it. But great video by the way I just bought a 4.0 cause I’m just now getting into walk golf.. can’t wait for that bad boy to get here!

another significant difference is there's more clearance between the bottom of your bag and the front wheel on the 4.0. If you have a heavy bag then it's possible for the bag to scuff on the front wheel on the 3.0/3.5+

Great video. I've had the original 3.0 and it was great. I just sold it in favor of the Big Max Blade IP. Clic Gear have made small increment changes, as you've stated. But the folding mechanism has stayed the same and it's not very convenient, compared to the Big Max. I can fold/unfold my Big Max in less than 15 seconds. And it folds flat. I hope that Clic Gear can abandon their current model and design something that folds into a smaller and lighter footprint for future models and not make small changes like having a bigger net.

I’ve had the 3.5+ for 8 years now. I ride most of the time, but probably walk ~ 20x/yr. I’ve dealt with my bag rubbing on the front wheel for quite some time now, but today it was so bad I told myself I wasn’t using it again. I literally had to push down on the handle to keep the bag from rubbing so the cart could move forward. I just saw a video that I hope will fix the problem, but my reason for posting here is I’m surprised the 4.0 didn’t include a fix for this widespread problem?!?!

Thanks for the comparisons! I have a 3.5 (not 3.5+) and I feel like I can apply some of the improvements from the 4.0 to mine. I found your comment on the pencil holder on the 3.5+ interesting, as I really like mine -- with lots of use, I think it's been stretched out a bit, but I don't find it hard to use at all.

No need to upgrade to the 4.0 from a 3.5+ as far as I can see. The bag straps are a bit naff I agree, but that’s not enough reason to upgrade from a perfectly functioning 3.5+

Just upgraded to the Bag Boy Nitron from the 3.5. So much easier to fold and unfold and lighter and smaller. Well built IMO from a company that's been around for a while. My stand Sun Mountain bag kept hitting the wheel on the 3.5 and rubbed a lot. The snap loc system on the Bag Boy Nitron worked better and keeps the wheel away from the bag.

  • @Akuaihe
    @Akuaihe Před 4 lety

The 4.0 is my first cart since I’m a newbie, and I like it a lot, however I have a few tings I don’t like about it. Firstly the top silicone strap is a bit short if you use a big bag. Like a 14+ type from TaylorMade, it’s hard to attach. Secondly, the socket for the handle to the frame is a bit too small, so there’s a kind of a wiggle there, that is hard to tighten, as the bolts are threaded from the outside in, and the locknuts are “inside” the plastic. I fear it might crack eventually. Just hope not.

Thanks for the review. The adjustable top bracket makes a huge difference for mounting. A couple of questions. Did Clicgear ever resolve the clearance issue where the front wheel would rub against the cart bag eventually over time? There is a workaround for this, which is to pull up the bottom part and screw in tighter the pivot screw. Lastly, Where's the phone holder?! I was expecting one in the newer version. Thanks!

The difference is the whack ass short straps on the 4.0. It's pretty fucked how the 4.0's top straps are too short for the Sun Mountain C130, only the #1 best selling bag, which I have and my bag falls off my fucking 4.0 fairly regularly. I'd like to know who the fucktard is that designed the 4.0 straps and allowed that to get thru R&D. Perhaps they don't do any R&D. I called Cliqgear about some parts and mentioned this just yesterday and the guy on the phone acted like it was the first time he'd heard about this fucked issue. Yeah right, I'm now seeing several threads online regarding this too short strap issue, just ridiculous they put this out man. I had the older model which had the longer straps which worked fine. Big fail from Cliqgear and I'd expect by now that they'd have an extension solution available or perhaps they just don't give a golly gosh darn, like most company's these days. I get pissed GD it, lol. Good day.
