MUSICIAN REACTS to Elvis Presley - Unchained Melody (Live 1977)

- Hey guys! Today I am reacting to a song by Elvis Presley: "Unchained Melody" (Live 1977).
After doing some research I found out that the song wasn't written by the "Righteous Brothers". It was written by Hy Zaret & Alex North. Sorry for the wrong information in the video!
I was listening to the song a few more times after doing the reaction and heard that the last part of it was overdubbed with other instruments after the record! It sounds pretty good though. After checking out the undubbed version I have to say that I like it even better - Elvis playing the piano is a fantastic combination!
I am really trying hard to catch up with all of your requests! More than 60 songs are on my list at the moment. We'll do them all haha!

Hi John - this was his last concert in June 1977 - he said good bye to all of his fans. Fantastically sung by darling Elvis!
It blows my mind and breaks my heart to think this performance was his last and he would die weeks later.
He owns the song, thats for sure.. Can't express it any better...
The body may have failed him but his voice never did. God rest your soul Elvis.

ELVIS NEAR HIS END IS STILL BEAUTIFUL & HIS VOICE AS BEAUTIFUL AS EVER. BEAUTIFUL SONG. WOW IS RIGHT. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO
He passed away a few weeks after this incredible concert 😔...
It breaks my heart to see him so Ill . He gave his all even though, physically , he was low but the voice never wavered …..a true entertainer the likes you’ll never see again ❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶
I don’t want to think is his last. He was to great at this performance. Elvis you’re the best
Jane H commenting ….. This was his last concert, June 1977. August 16, he died. He is short of breath, as his very enlarged heart is failing. His liver was failing & he was in constant severe pain from the glaucoma in both of his eyes. He had a very serious problem with his colon, which was also causing severe pain. And his addiction to prescription meds increased as the pain increased. But his performance throughout this concert was just amazing. His performance of How Great Thou Art will blow your mind. I think all of us Elvis fans would love you to do a Reaction on How Great Thou Art in this 1977 concert, because it is truly God-inspired. He gave this beautiful gift to the world, & then he quietly left. Charlie Hodge was heart-broken. Elvis loved Charlie & he trusted him, like he trusted no other. And just look at that beautiful smile he gave us, & also a big smile for Charlie. At all of Elvis’ homes, there was a bedroom set aside for Charlie, with his name on the door. That was the love Elvis had for Charlie.
6 weeks later...that beautiful soul was gone.
Always will be the King of Rock and Roll!
His majestic voice never left him! LONG LIVE THE KING!
Although his voice stays amazing, when I watch Elvis perform in his later years, I have always thought he looked like a man who was ill, not just on drugs. I am from a medical family, and my dad, a doctor, always thought the same thing. He would comment that Elvis looked like he was on cortisone (which I have recently found out he was for his lungs). You have to watch the video, or read the book, Elvis: destined to die young by Sally Hoedel. She is a professional journalist and a lifetime Elvis fan who always questioned why did Elvis, his mom, and her two brothers, have similar deaths and health issues. She did extensive research into Elvis's family health history and found out that his mother's parents were 1st cousins who married, and as a result, passed on several genetic health issues to Gladys, her two brothers, and Elvis. Elvis suffered from a young boy of insomnia, and bowel issues. We now would be able to diagnose that as Hirschsprung's disease (congenital megacolon) causing terrible constipation and abdominal pain. Sally's research clearly documents that Elvis, his maternal grandmother, and mother all had an autoimmune disorder that affected their liver and lungs. Autoimmune diseases are only recently better understood. However, due to the fact that Elvis grew up really below the poverty line for years, they had no access to medical care. In the early 1970's, Elvis's doctor did try to understand why a man of his age would have so many health issues, but the tests that would have discovered his illness were not developed. There were no CT scans, MRI's, ultrasounds, etc. Therefore, they threw the drugs they had available at his symptoms, without really treating the underlying disease. It was only in his autopsy report that they found out he suffered from an auto immune inflammatory process. Did he take prescription drugs, Yes; but, I think unlike an addict who takes drugs to escape life, Elvis was taking them for real medical ailments that neither he, nor his docotrs totally understood, and that he was trying to figure out how to survive and continue to be Elvis.
Sally states in her book: "There are eleven main systems in the human body and Elvis endured disorder/disease in nine of them. His heart (circulatory system), his lungs (respiratory system), and his bowels (digestive/excretory systems) required medication. Insomnia affected his nervous system. The adrenal gland failure and resulting low testosterone are both issues of the endocrine system. His immune system was compromised. His urinary system was not functioning properly. The arthritis that caused Elvis severe pain throughout his body impacted his muscular system and skeletal system. There is clearly more at play here than a dependence on prescription medication when more than eighty percent of Elvis’ bodily systems did not function properly. When we add to that the evidence that I have uncovered proving that of those nine, five-the circulatory (heart disease), respiratory (Alpha 1), digestive/excretory (megacolon), nervous (insomnia) and immune (hypogammaglobulinemia)-were present since birth and certainly prior to the prescription drug use that accompanied fame."
Elvis dedicated his life to getting his family out of poverty, and keeping them out. At the end of his life he had more than 100 people on his payroll, and I believe that he was a very ill man who was struggling to continue to provide for those he loved, and to give everyone what they wanted--Elvis Presley. I am thankful that Sally has done some interviews that are posted on CZcams, and has written a book that helps us understand the man, and that gives him back his integrity. He was NOT a dope riddled man. He was an ill man trying to survive, and who wanted to continue to bless the world with his unique gifts. Baz Luhrman got this wrong in his movie.
Ma come faceva? Stava male ma Elvis aveva ancora una voce fantastica! Elvis the king 😍
The voice never left him !!!!
I think it grew as he got older his range took him up to operatic tenor in the last few years.
Everyone, let’s not forget he was gone 6 weeks later, he was playing piano while singing AND he hit notes like this - with this kind of raw power, passion and depth WHILE SITTING DOWN!
The man could sing anything
Wonder what he would think of all his new fans this many years later. He is timeless.
The goat never will there be another like him. Elvis is in a class of his glad that I was born in that era I'm in my 70s now and will always love Elvis RIP our sweet man
John if you get a chance Elvis singing Black Limousine fantastic song saw it on Utube during his funeral
Glad to see young generation appreciating the King
I will check it out 😊🙏
Makes me cry every time I watch this . Know how sick he was and still to perform for his fans. He loved his fans as much as we loved him. Elvis always brought it until the end. TCB
Tears, and playing piano too❤ amazing
Greatest singer to ever live!
No one can ever top this man Ever
You see and hear him struggling with his breath, but his voice is spectacular. Elvis was the King and still is nothing will ever compare x
Elvis made songs his own. That's what you get from ELVIS anytime. He was and still is the best. That's why he is the KING OF MUSIC. TCB
Every time I see this I cry. Six weeks later he was gone. Unbelievable voice. God Bless this beautiful man and his beautiful soul. RIP
People came to watch him here because he is Elvis..and nobody else. His greatest days were behind him but the was the King...no matter what! And this stuff matters!!
He put his whole body & soul into that song Its my all time favorite There will never be another Elvis Thank God for him Love this man
This song rips your heart out absolutely brilliant.
We have never seen nor will we see a performance like this. It is absolutely unrepeatable.
No one ever came close to this men, The Revolutionary Elvis, and no one ever will, there's only one Elvis, that's why his called the King, The Voice, Wow, I Love Elvis !
Breaks my heart every single time I see this. 😢
Me too !!
is it normal for a 47yo man to be sobbing like a baby watching this, everytime i watch it it brings me to tears, the world lost an incredible talent the day he died?
22ndSAS absolutely. Absolutely.
I was 12 years old, riding in the back seat of my parents '62 Plymouth Fury on August 16th 1977. My folks had taken my sisters and I out to lunch near Aquatic Park, Fisherman's Wharf when it was announced on the radio that Elvis had died.......no one said a word the rest of the way home but you could feel the pain and heartache in the silence. Whenever I see this video of his last performance, I think it's in South Dakota? His amazing voice still brings tears to my eyes 43 years later!
hans franklin I was sitting in my car outside the high school baseball practice field waiting for my son when I heard the news. One of those incidents when you remember where you were.
I've watched this last live performance of his so many times over and knowing in hindsight that it would only be weeks before he died just breaks my heart. Towards the end when he sings My Way.. I have never been able to stop the tears. There will never be another Elvis
Elvis was the beginning and the end and we will love him forever. Thank you for your show please review Don’t Think Twice
I will!
Unbelievable that he died shortly after this! Incredible voice!
Elvis the greatest artist of our time and no one would ever come close !
Greatest artist of anytime
I would say the greatest artist there will ever be ... no one before him no one after him ...
He is
No argument here. Elvis is the greatest of all times!
Agreed. Even in this state, he was still better than everyone before or after. Amazing. Elvis is king
You can tell just by looking at him that he was just so tired. It's obvious that he was in poor health but there was so much sadness and fatigue in his eyes. He didn't look like he could make it through another song but he shockingly belted this one out. What a performance. He did How Great Thou Art just a couple of weeks before he passed.....it was stunning. You really need to check that one out. I had goosebumps the whole time he was singing it.
The most versatile entertainer ever. Can you think of anyone in your repertoire of knowledge about entertainers that could go from Jailhouse Rock to a song Like Loving You or song, I Can't Help Falling in Love With You to Burning Love to, Hound Dog to a song Like Love Me Tender. Can you think of anyone with that array of talent? Thank you John, you will soon be at a thousand.
Thats lovely words Very nice sir 💂🌻🍀Elvis had such greatness his voice , appearance , the fans adored him
I totally agree! Thank you so much.
An operatic performance of a rock ballad. Unbeatable!
I watched this so so many times & cries everytime
WOWWW!! WOWWW, WOWWW. LO AMOOO!!❤❤❤❤❤👑❤👑❤👑❤❤👏👏👏👏😘
❤️ 🎶 ".. Beloved Elvis Presley 💕 an extraordinary Singer and persona 🏆 like no other's.. Magnificence ln Abundance. Thanks for sharing ❤️ and enjoy a delightful evening..". 🎶 ❤️
Hard to believe he passed just 6 weeks later..he gave it everything right until the end.
It is strange.... You can see his beauty under that swelling..despite his difficulties to even breath ..he deliveres once again with charisma that left you in awe. High notes, that falsetto..... Elvis was a proud man..to be on stage knowing that he does not look good.. that is bravery. By the way I love your shirt
How nice you speak of our life long giver
Makes you a true fan . Elvis needed to be close to us ,more than ever at this time.
Dd
I still think he looks good ... with that smile he sure did
I totally agree with you! Thank you very much!
@@jrc5515 Elvis may have looked good on the outside but he was a very sick man in the inside.
Elvis was the greatest!!I am a nurse, and he was slowly but surely dying here, but his voice never failed him although his heart is in failure here as evidenced by his swollen appearance and his inability to breathe very well. There will never be another performer at his caliber!!!I mean NEVER!!!
To know that six weeks later he would pass is heartbreaking. His voice never faltered.
What a fight for his audience...
Yes John he ownes the song. Well said. This was 8 weeks before he passed. Powerful vocals. 👍⚡🎤
It's sad to see him so sick but still giving us all he had.
So great our Elvis!!!
The fact he was still able to sing like this later in life.
Couldn't of said it better myself
That brought tears to my eyes watching him. He died 6 weeks later. No one comes close to Elvis, he was a gift from God, and his looks, voice, charisma, dancer/mover, and most of all his empathy for others, makes him the "KING" of music. No one could ever come close to his talent, ever. I listen to him sing every day, and his voice is like no other. I will always love him.
So will I....❤️❤️❤️
I read as Elvis Fan a comment.
The Rightous Brothers bring people with this Song to falling in love kissing and romantic. But Elvis bringing people to the present of God. 🙏
Tanks jhon for video for best song the last performance for the king Elvis Presley 👑
I know why I love Elvis so much . That voice 🎼😄🙏🏻 from even
Every time I hear this I cry. This was his last concrete. He died six weeks later. The Show Must Go On. He not only was the King of Rock and Roll; he was the Greatest Entertainer of the Twentieth Century. Will Love this man always and forever
This was filmed by CBS about 5 days, before his Last concert which was on the 26th June 1977 at indianapolis. That concert wasn't filmed.
Elvis Presley showed his feelings in his songs. He was the best singer ever lived. Great performance
U dont even know Status Quo 🤣🤣
Its so true. He sang true till the end.
As a lifelong Elvis fan, it's always difficult to see him in that '77 concert. It makes you wish that the people around him could have done something to change the course of events that were to unfold.
He owned every song he sang. The most beautiful and powerful voice ever. 2021
I love Elvis Presley emotional touching powerful version of this song. Nobody sung like my Mr Songman. Play a react to. Mr Songman by Elvis Presley I believe this song should been written about Elvis Presley. Mr Songman ❤ ❤❤ ❤
With his body failing him, his voice only got stronger. That is breathtaking.
They asked him if he wanted not to go on but he said the show must go on. This man was so strong n suffered from 6 diseases that I know of. God bless this man
Heaven my love Elvis 🎼🙏🏻❤️
Before Elvis There Was Nothing....Even After...Long Live The King Of Music
I loved him this was his last concert
It was an excellent song for him and I'm glad he recorded it.
Death was catching up with him but that voice never failed!
It is very hard for me to watch this because in 1977 i was a kid of 12 years old, and Elvis fan since my 5. I had seen him already for 5 times and I wanted to go to this concert but my mom didn't allow me because the day after this concert i had an exam to do. 6 weeks later he died and that was for me an enormous shock, i was heartbroken and furious to my mom, I didnt speak to her for days. It felt I didn't say goodbye to him, I saw him also as my best friend. I went to his funeral on August 18 and believe me that was a funeral I never forget. I saw many people fainting, I heard Jimmy Carter who was president of USA saying "We never had a king, except Elvis Presley" I never forget the scene when the music gate of graceland openend and the cars came out and the police officers standing gave the military salut.
You are very blessed to have seen him.
My mom was supposed to go but didn't and told her
friends next time. There was no next time. She regretted it always.
Wow.. thank you so much for sharing your story. Very emotional! He was the greatest.
@@johngibsonmusic He is still the greatest! Nobody sells more then him not even the Beatles, Michael Jackson or who ever! He is a phenomenon and icon, revolution to music because he changed our way of listening to music and he had a profounding effect on our lives, culturally, socially, emotionally and he still does, and lets not forget he was amazing generous, it is unbelievable what he gave away to help other people, surely 2/3 of his income and if they let him do he would give away everything. If he was asked like by his father why he gave so much away to people he didn't know very good he replied "Because I love to see people to be happy I love their smile on their faces, if I make a record or give a concert I have millions of dollars om my account just like that, so I don't worry about the money and if somebody asks me to help him with money who am I to refuse that". I think his generosity is one of the reasons he is still remembered.
I was 12 in '77 also. Saw Elvis in concert 9 months earlier in Nov '76. It was pretty surreal that hot August day of my 12th year when the announcement came on CBS, interrupting my friend's Mom's soap operas. I was thinking "huh? But... what!?!? Really?..."
@@TCBElvisAPresley Thank you for sharing this!
HE IS SO PASSIONATE ❤️
I totally agree with your reaction ! Elvis is incomparable ..............Simply the greatest singer of all times ...............
You are 100% correct..he is the man for always❤️
😭😭😭 I cry every time I see this, because I know it’s one of his last performances...So beautiful! God bless!
Yes, Elvis' voice and what he did with it - amazing! 'Unchained Melody' was a hit in the 1950s done by both Al Hibler and Roy Hamilton. Later it was a hit again by the Righteous Bros. As usual, Elvis' version is special.
It breaks my heart to watch this video, Elvis looks like he's struggling & in pain.
Even though he was sick he never lost his voice.
Ok you did listen to this song . ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC THIS VOICE WAS
Absolutely!!
Always brings a tear when I watch Elvis perform this song, you can see he's not well, but he still gives one hell of performance with such strong vocals. That's why he is still referred to as the 'King' to this day.
Just a wonderful Man that sang like no other & blessed us all to be able to hear His amazing voice!!!!
Thanks for playing the KING!!! What a spectacular performance!
I couldn't hold back my tears in this scene while watching the Elvis movie.... 🥺🥺🥺😔😔👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️💋🌹🤴🤴🤴💐
I love seeing Elvis like this he still had that beautiful smile sense of humor chrisma stage presence and that voice so strong and powerful so amazing
Here we go... Country has Cash... Pop has Michael... But rock and freaking roll? We have a king! I gotta say this i just turned 33 and was blessed with my very first child on 11/4/2019 and when im rocking him to sleep i put on an Elvis playlist and we rock out! My son seems to like it smiles while listening and goes to sleep.
RIP Elvis and the legends who owned their respected genres
Congratulations! That's so cute. Daddy's taking good care of his child with the help of some great music! I wish you and your child all the best for the future!
Before ELVIS there was nothing ♥️ his voice os increíble ...
Still the King and No one Will ever come clouse. This man had it All. Sad to die only 42. But Elvis was Elvis and the most famous man ever since he was 19 years. Its not easy. Hey young People it was not autotune like today its live whiout
I loved it.. Beautiful song. No signs that Elvis voice was wearing out at all, if anything he was sounding much better and very strong.. It wasn't that he was so much overweight, but that he was retaining so much fluid and had to take diuretics to get his weight down. After a show and all that sweating he always looked much lighter. He was in great spirits the night he passed looking forward to another tour...
The voice was strong in a lot of aspects around this time but the voice was better all-around in the early sixties is all around range and tone and flexibility will always be at its best in the early sixties crying in the chapel Fame and Fortune surrender those songs prove it Elvis was great in the seventies but his all around town and ability to go high and low and health early 60s Nashville thank you
That's so true Wayne ... it was water retention ... people who say he was fat are horrors ... I see worse virtually everyday ... he was sooo looking forward to next concert billy smith was saying ... a lot of fans think that he was depressed he was not at all
Pavorotti said Elvis can sing like me but I can't sing like Elvis!
I have not words to describe the feeling , the unique voice that only Elvis can have, impressive , that sympathy , the smile, everything in him is magnificent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The powerful voice of the Greatest entertainer
This Voice is so Strong . Uff, 😢Elvis, du fehlst. Thanks for your Music
The beauty of his voice never changed, he’s still the King 40 years after he died, what does that tell you? It tells me no one will ever match his talent, ever skinny or fat Elvis is the King period. Search CZcams for Elvis reactions and you will see the amount of young people who are falling in love with him melinials and younger! A whole new generation is finding Elvis as well as the Carpenters!
Not all fat ,he must have had heart failure, so a lot of his weight was fluid.People with heart failure fill up with fluid ,proper care and meds take the fluid away.
Elvis was and always will be the king of Rock and Roll. Elvis Forever!
Its incredible sad to see this performance just six weeks before his unexpected death, you can tell his candle is starting to extinguish, he extremely ill, however, to the very end he never disappointed his fans and his voice is brilliant. RIP Elvis 🌹
He is untouchable ... that gorgeous smile ..... long live the KING of music . RIP x
Elvis was incredible, absolutely incredible voice and spirit.
He is a true operatic, rocker, gospel. singer of all genre ... I remember when he died ... I was in high school at the time .. it was a national tragedy
He has a powerful voice that God has bestowed... The sound is perfect... Elvis.. Elvis... 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️💋
I dont care what journey of his life he was in... Prefection!
You meant perfection. But no one is prefect. :-)
It's so sad to watch him like this. And it was cruel for anyone to say he was ugly. He was heavier, but he was still the Elvis that we came to love and enjoy. The twinkle in his eyes was still there and his smile was just as captivating as ever. 😊 He was very sick from whatever caused it, but have us fans his all right up to the end. I feel sorry for the ignorance in some people to talk about him the way they did. In my opinion they are the ugly ones not Elvis. The day we lost him a great light went out all over the world, and he was loved by people all over the world. Nobody could ever take his place. He was asked one time about who he sounded like and he said nobody. And that is indeed true for his voice and his essence is truly special and unique. RIP dear Elvis and thank you for so many wonderful memories we will cherish. 😊😇😢
I totally agree with you Rebecca 😊
His voice never failed him
Another wow song by Elvis
Elvis we will never forget you. We still love you and you are so greatly missed ❤ ♥ 😢
