- RimWorld played on the hardest difficulty, without pause or game-changing mods, on the most unforgiving map - Sea Ice - starting with nothing (not even clothing), against Randy Random.
Sea Ice is not the same as Ice Sheet. Sea Ice has no resources. You can also never deep drill on sea ice.
This is meant to be a challenge run that doesn't use too many DLC 'cheeses'. It may be long, repetitive, or even boring for long stretches. If it becomes too stale we will start using more DLC mechanics.

I completely understand the frustration with having to *play* this run, but I gotta say as someone who does a lot of processing work that's just responding to emails, this run is the perfect thing to have in the background while I figure out polite ways to tell people "you couldn't pour water out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel"

There is also something hilarious about having uranium beds, and this having 0 consequences. I wonder if there's a mod that adds increased cancer chances when using uranium items like that
Can't write it in a ticket or mail but sometimes there's the classic case of error ID-10t (remove the dash, replace 10 with io... for cases where it was user error with a touch of attitude)
Have to say, this is series is doing good stuff for my insomnia. Though it did take me three days to get through the first stream as I kept falling asleep... It's honestly impressive

sorry about your tax stuff. if it helps any, i filed in at the end of Jan, we just got our returns earlier this month (July). i spoke to my tax lady, and the IRS (two awesome phone experiences). We got a letter letting us know we would be receiving a tax check in the coming days. funny thing is, the letter came a week after the tax return did.

About Dafooglers question, I just played the game with no dlc and no mods on this one run, just to see what I did and didn't like, and I found that I almost needed the better workbench management and mend andrecycle for quality of life, and having the ideology dlc for dying clothes made a big difference too

for me the most important part of the no pause mod is the "no forced pauses"-part. Feels pretty immersion breaking when the game pauses every* time a menu pops up. It's optional but the mod adds a different pause mode where the UI disappears, which can be used for toilet breaks or other IRL events. Really glad Adam inspired me to try it cuz it feels like something that should be vanilla (I'm actually a bit surprised it isn't, seems like it'd be in the spirit of the experience Tynan seems to want to convey, as a toggleable option ofc)
Forced pause is vanilla setting - it can be set on none, major, minor and whatever events
@@Jfk2Mr yes but that's only events, there's no option for disabling pause when opening trade menu, growth moment, etc

If you count wool, alpaca bison and sheep wool are the weakest furs, but "fur" usually comes from skinning, not shearing off excess hair, so of the 7 furs guinea pig and chinchilla furs are tied for worst

I wonder if it is possible to use a mod to craft an experience that feels similar to sea ice but with much less waiting around. Like, have a different storyteller that sends events more frequently? But those events are less profitable? So the resources are still roughly equal in how scarce they are overall, but there's more activity and less staring at your screen on fast forward waiting for something to happen.
I like sea ice! I’ve always gone full diagonal base for sea ice. I think if you are ever going to do it, the resource economy of sea ice is a good reason to.
1.5 nerfed my latest sea ice colony. I moisture pumped the area right by the ocean for a cost effective wind farm :(
1.5 also patched force fed pemmican nutrient paste. It’s a tough time to sea ice!
I believe 1.5 also patched terrain changing from meteors. Yet another reason sea ice is harder now
how thick would sea ice need to be to stop a meteor without breaking?

Adam.. When did you get all those minerals scanned?? were you scanning all those years and i didn't notice?
When we got the third person they began scanning nonstop (and they have higher intelligence). Then we finished research and pretty much have 2 people scanning nonstop. ON average each person finds something every 3ish days and we are on 4x speed most of the time and like 7 years in.

With that hospital bed setup, you could have 2 rows of 6 beds, all working with vitals monitors and TV's facing each set of beds, so you have entertainment for up to 12 patients with 2 tvs
I didn't need that many. I only made a few because that is all I needed. I talk about it in the playthrough.
1 vitals monitor can connect to 8 beds. I never worry about rec for the hospital, people are happy enough with the room impressiveness, size, beauty, etc.
@@AdamVsEverything yeah, that makes sense, I usually play on lower difficulties, so it leads to different priorities I guess, but I didn't know about 8 beds connecting to 1 vitals monitor before watching the video, so thanks for the advice!

Mood and sanity are not the exact same. There are other games that have both.
@@AdamVsEverything Yes but low mood causes all of the things that low sanity would do anyway, is my point.
I mean, they could decide to move all of the mental breaks to sanity instead, but that would gut mood as a mechanic.
about 2h11m you say that you don't know how they could fix adaption -- i suppose, while it wouldn't be perfect, they could have some kind of system to detect if e.g. 75% or more of the damage that caused the pawn to be downed was from a player action (so not a mental break or social fight or raider, and not drafting the pawn and have them stand outside nude until dead, etc.). if they did that then adaption would be harder to cheese (not at all impossible) because you'd have to e.g. do your join rituals while a fight occurs or somehow engineer a situation that the game doesn't detect as player action. the first thing that comes to mind would be throwing molotov cocktail at a wooden structure with the sacrifices inside lol
