I personally prefer to use undergravel filters and once I have hardened whichever species I simply trigger the spawning and they won't stop.
I also used to have a tank to condition water for water changes and any tanks with fish had it's own siphon/gravel vacuum.

Very nice video :) 8:10 we can see that the pleco is sick , having internal parasites as well as the guppies are skiny (which is because of the internal parasites).

Pat, is there a reason for the black substrate? Also, your reasoning for the guppies I had never thought of...is another reason for dither fish...so they can see activity above them?
