EVERYTIME I hear them chug to life I swear my heart beat goes up ten or twenty notches! Guess after you've help overhaul a few in your life you appreciate the "start up " . Might have to find a clip to change to my morning alarm. Yes Ty very much !
We used to have 10, sometimes 15 CAT 3406's on compressors out in the desert and on cold mornings (despite what you'd think, the desert can be extremely cold) you would hear all these CAT's clattering and rattling as they tried to get warm. That just reminded me of that ! Great vid John !
Good day! Sounds like those engines could use the Espar! Hydronic8 for the big one and a 5 for the small one and you'll be able to start those engines in probably 10 rotations max! We use them here in the Yukon Canada on our equipment and when it's -25 below out 1.5 hours with the Espar and she's damn near at operating temp before even cranking the engine! A thing of joy and beauty in the cold
Morning! Yep you sure can they have a 7 day timer programable to start the Espar when ever you set them for! It really is a wonderful thing hearing you engine fire on all 12 and 8 in this case hahha
The beast awakens....... Damn that is hard on those engines! When it is that cold is there any way you could use a gas generator and a block heater to heat them up some?
Just so you know, we all love a cold start in there somewhere. Good Lord though, it's bad enough you go out and shoot bambi, now you trying to gas him out too? lol, that fog bank is entirely man made.
There was nothing wrong with this cold start. They were talking to ya like mine always does in cold weather. Mine is an ex Army M-1009 otherwise known as a Chevy full size Blazer 3/4 ton 4X4 with a 6.2 diesel no turbo or blower and when I crank her it's saying ooooohhhhhhh I ddddddddooooonnnnnnnttttttt waaaaaaaaannnnnnnnaaaaaaa. Goooooooooooooooooooooo wweeeeeeeelllllll. Mmmmaaaayyyyyybbbbbeeeeeee. Oooooookkkkkkkkkkk. Hhhhheeeeerrrreeee iiiiii. Gggggooooooo!!?!,!!! Then you sit and wait for it to kick off high idle and only then to you put it in gear. Had to start a 1500 hp ALCO RS-2 that was shut down by kids overnight in 10 degree weather batteries were very low because the fuel pump contractor solenoid had failed and no spare being available we used a wooden block to keep the contractor closed so when whoever killed the engine the fuel pump 1725 rpm 3/4 horsepower kept running instead of shutting down hence the low battery. I cranked it over came up to compression on the first cylinder and stalled did that three times and finally said to myself ok you start or blow the starting fuse I don't care it stalled and over 10 seconds worked through compression on that cylinder and very slowly ground over and after the sixth cylinder fired up and you halfta keep the starters switch engaged until the oil pressure comes up and the low oil alarm light goes off. Then and only then can you release the starter switch both starter contractors opened then the auxiliary generator not an alternator kicked in and the amp meter buried itself all the way off the scale and that meter read 300 amps maximum. I had turned the chrome plated steel starter lever with my bare fingers and they froze to the lever when I tried to let go skin peeled off on it. The auxiliary was rated at 10 kW at 75 volts DC nominal voltage on a US locomotive is 64 volts engine shut down V-12 8 1/2 inch by 10 inches per cylinder 4 stroke free gas turbocharged. The auxiliary generator didn't reach it's normal 25-30 reading until 4 pm I started it at 5 am. Stay warm stay safe.
just pure awsumness!!! hell she's a great skeeter fogger!! lol dam she's a beast!! love it!! pard
