I bought a 60 inch 3-point hitch snow blower from Northern Tools. For the price, it looks like it should be a good deal!

weld on a chain hook to the bucket, it's a fun easy project and makes chaining up so much faster. interested on how the blower holds up. They seem to be priced so much more competitively than other names.
Yep, should definitely have a second bracket holding the chute on, looks like the one that is there will do for a pattern to make another from.

Great video.....very helpful with my same purchase....I made the same mistake with the other shoot bracket which I'm sure he figured out later as did I.......Wonder if he ever figured out a way to motorize the shoot....as they don't make a motor for it.
Would be interested if he did...seems like a sharp guy.
i found a luck now 7 ft blower, made in canada, built like a brick s-house, tines 1/2 thick. i did put on hydro on the turning and top angle . highly recommend it.
Very useful for you. Much cheaper then a dedicated unit as well. Here in Alabama, not so useful.
That chute does look a bit hokey. I would want to make a bracket for it as well.
I love the sticker with the little stick figure getting totally mangled in it, ha. It is very descriptive and universal to any language.
Well now that you have shown us that really nice snow thrower we/the NE will have less than normal snow fall. Quickly hid that thing so you don't annoy the snow gods! Then again that might be a good thing, a little less snow fall this season! :)
Just put my 60 inch blower together today. Yea, lousy instructions. It looks like they changed the hitch design with out changing the instruction's. They put a 2.5 inch drop to what is your top flat bar instead of the slight bend in the flat bar that is welded to the machine. I had to take it back apart when I saw the brackets didn't line up on top. I attached them on the inside when they were to be attached on the outside of the lower arms. Also the wobbly chute, if you haven't fixed it yet, that lower motor bracket on the other side comes off when you assemble it and you flip it it to mount on top of the ring to help hold it in place like the other side. Let it snow. cheers
I agree about fabricating a bracket to hold down that chute. Put the snow pressure in there and I can see that thing coming right off honestly.
Now you get to build a cab for the tractor!

They plow the sidewalks here in Halifax Nova Scotia and it is the worst, like making a rink. Snowblowers rule! Calculating what you save by assembling yourself - Ikea would be proud.
You don't have the chute together properly. The bracket that holds it from flopping around is underneath. Just un-bolt the two bearings on that side, drop the bracket from underneath, and place it on top covering the chute flange. It is very solid put together correctly. At least mine is.... You also did not have to take the bracketry off the other side to assemble the chute. I think that is why your worm gear hits. That is all in the directions. : )

+northrupdp Thanks for the tip. That funky motor mount bracket is the right part. I guess I was expecting something that had a bit more coverage like the other side. Working great! The worm gear is set up like the pick so it's still scraping. I'll just knock the bracket down a bit with the grinder.
You should get some forks for the tractor, you would be surprised how many uses you can find for them.
You have that bracket upside down. Should be on the top.
I'm shopping for a snowblower the same size when I came across your video. I would still be interested in knowing if it is still running for you and what kind of repairs you might have made.
No problems with it. I just make sure the gear box has oil and I grease the drive chain.
Are you hinting that we should expect a tough CT winter this year?

From my experience on the farm with over a mile of roads to keep open, the rear mount like yours would be a real drawback. there are two options for your unit to be mounted on the front of the tractor with an under running drive train from the pto or a hydraulic pump from the tractor. The alternative is a V shaped snow-blower that mounts on the three point hitch and is in effect when driving forward. Another advantage is the PTO is direct to the blower, no gear box. Worked like a champ even with somewhat wet snow. Which reminds me, spray the interior of the unit with silicone.

We didn't have the brand shown in the video but it was essentially the same, Wore out the first one and bought the second in time for the Buffalo Blizzard of '77. Unfortunately in '77 the snow drifts required a D-8 dozer from the neighborhood gravel pit.
Don't know about yours but the unit we had could loft a fist sized stone about 100', so be careful.

Mk martin in Canada actually makes a 3ph blower that is a forward pull behind blower without external hydraulic units and extra costly gear. And Pretty snazzy! That being said you get used to these pretty quick . They are oldschool but work awesome!
Not at this price though! I like the forward drive models, but for smaller situations and 1/2 the price, I'll live with the crick in my neck for now :-).

Mk Martin (martin meteor) make a very sturdy 3ph blower in Canada. 60" manual chute/rotate for $2500 Canadian($1700-1800 U.S). I'm buying one currently and the Meteor is built to last. Like the 5 instead of 4 blade fan as well. The price quoted was fully assembled(not delivered). Pick up with truck saves $200 delivery. Just an option if someone is looking?
I also bought that model Meteor Snowblower with a crank handle. I've been happy with the blower, however, I'm not happy with the dealer that sold it to me. He sold the blower to me with what looked like a used pto shaft. I was new to tractors and up to my ears in snow, so I didn't question it until later. Martin sells parts for it through a big distributor in NY. The distributor has many dealers listed where you can buy any parts if needed.
I did not see you fill the gear box with oil or grease anything. Did it come filled? I bought a 60" Titan and it came with no owners manual so I am left guessing for assembly. But the price was right at $1899 with no tax and free shipping to my house.
have any video of the titan? its a 100% look a like to the mk martin meteor but heavier. how does it perform? would you buy it again?

Great video. Just put together the same blower and can't wait to try it out. Have a question about the shear bolt for the auger. The manual says it's a M6x30 bolt. It doesn't identify it as a bolt designed for shearing. Have you had occasion to replace the shear bolt?

I've never broken it. I did stall the tractor once so guess it takes a lot to break it!

I used an impact wrench to tighten the big bolts. Very quick and much less muscle needed. Also good for loosening when something needed adjustment.
@@azopene Everything has held together fine with no modifications. I haven't put a motor on it....too many other projects to deal with! ;-)
I will be interested in seeing it perform. The main auger looks small for the size of the box. I also doubt the longevity of the design and quality of construction. Unfortunately often we are constrained by budget and I understand the purchase you chose. An additional $1k would have made a world of difference (or about 20 hours of fabricating, which I suspect you are going to do).
+coloradosean2005 We'll see what happens. The reviews on the Northern Tools site were good (but who knows if they remove the poor ones). Luckily, I can do some welding so if it needs repair work, I can take care of it. I'm still shocked how expensive a simple snow plow was!

I've owned Toyota trucks all my life. this one is a 2010 and is the biggest piece of garbage. Lost the clutch at 44K miles and they wouldn't cover it under warranty. The clutch is on a "watch" list but won't admit there a problem. In the last 60 days, I've spent $5K replacing the air conditioning, a bunch of things with the drive train, and both 02 sensors. Never again.
Oh, man sorry to hear of all the troubles. Toyota's quality (like so many things today) seems to have dropped off...
so will you need to drive backwards to use this? seems dangerous and uncomfortable.
+The Blue Farmer These things are easy to drive in reverse, it even has 4 speeds. After a while you get used to it. Even when I plow now, you push the snow forward, then back all the way up again...so 50% of the time you're usually in reverse anyway! ;-)

Got a turn engine for shut, and linear for end angle shut.
To be mounted yet.
Need to tweak the engine some, for correct rpm.
But it works this far.
Made mount for front loader for it, the reverse driveing was a pain in the (!) last winter.
