I’m a big stone circle geek. My favourite is Clava Cairns which is more complex than a simple circle. Can’t wait to be back up there later this month. Another great video 🎉

Like it the ancient history of Scotland. Several of my ancestors imigrated from there. Yes if that much wind was stirring up best idea to call it. Most of my camping is island camping these days. I once had an unexpected storm off of the Pacific make for a very difficult trip. Could not not however call that one surf too high to launch a smaller boat.

I normally like to tough it out - but my gut said bail out and the van was quite close which probably helped with the decision. Thanks for your comment

North east scotland? I live near elgin, nothing like this near to where i live.
Do you need a mucker?
I dont know any locations where i get left alone, apart from beach camping and that gets boring after a while, or up in the cairngorms.

There are definitely good spots up Elgin way - I would take a look at the woodlands in speyside - do a few recces and Im sure you will find a spot.

Haven’t lived in Moray for a while, but I’d recommend the other side of the bay at Findhorn. It’s a wonderful place to camp in tent or hammock.
