About Attack On Titan Season 2 Episode 7 “Close Combat" (2017) (source Attack On Titan Wikia):
In his Titan form, Eren battles the Armored Titan while the Scout Regiment attacks the Colossal Titan. However, a whirlwind of steam coming from Bertholdt's Titan prevents them from coming close. Meanwhile, Eren is hopelessly overpowered until he recalls a special fighting technique he learned from Annie years ago.
About the Attack On Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin):
Attack on Titan (Japanese: 進撃の巨人, Hepburn: Shingeki no Kyojin, lit. "The Attack Titan") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. It is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by enormous walls that protect them from gigantic man-eating humanoids referred to as Titans; the story follows Eren Yeager, who vows to exterminate the Titans after a Titan brings about the destruction of his hometown and the death of his mother.

Eren Yeager (エレン・イェーガー) is a former member of the Survey Corps. He is the main protagonist of Attack on Titan. This event would lead to Eren's intense hatred towards the Titans as he swore to wipe all of them off the face of the Earth.

Annie’s Osoto Guruma , Kata Gatame combo is very creative and most importantly super legit! While she could have submitted Eren with her Kata Gatame (also known as an Arm Triangle) she was merely training Eren, and she did a good job doing so! Actually i got into a street fight and one of the biggest dudes ive fought i didnt think i could outbox i dispatched using this because id seen this seen and it came to mind i have no idea why but it worked is legit people do not expect getting hit with this.
I think it's a show of skill on behalf of the animators that you guys keep coming back to this series so many times
The Creator of Attack on Titan, Hajime Isayama, is a big fan of MMA and therefore a lot of the animated techniques are based off legitimate martial arts.

I think so too. Not sure why anime studios feel the need to make some weird bs happen in a fight. Eren vs Reiner which was literally just a plus-sized MMA match was fuckin rad.
@@jooot_6850 Its actually more often the original Mangaka that decides how fights are played out, as well as everything else in the story, the anime studios just adapt it. As for why fights in a lot of anime/manga are always flashy and impractical, it is to take advantage of the fictional medium and freedom of anime and show you things that you don't see in real life and draws you in to want to learn more about the fictional world and its mechanics. It can either add a lot of nuance or take it away depending on how its done. Attack on Titans fights are mostly fictional based with glorified 3D movement gear and giant monsters. There are only a handful of the scenes depicting realistic hand to hand combat, but it's communicating to the view that the humans in this world are weak in comparison to the monsters, it's actually a great story telling tool and not just a homage to material arts. Where-as another anime without any fictional mechanics in it at all would need to create interesting drama to keep a viewers attention, attack on Titan also takes advantage of the fictional world to make the realistic side much more impactful.

Interesting note here: the Attack Titan's body and fighting style is based on former MW contender and celebrated judoka Yushin Okami, while the Armored Titan is based on former UFC HW champion and NCAA Wrestling champ Brock Lesnar!
Their styles are pretty developed by the end of season 3, cool stuff.
Not so much Brocks style but his body and not his body from college but his body from UFC and WWE.
Annie was always my favourite character in the show so it pleases me to see you coming back and showing off some of her fighting techniques.

Before when she fought to win she easily beat eren though.

To deal damage to reiner its not about strength. Its about how to break his armor, and annie has hardening ability.
Eren tried to punch reiner armor with strwngth without hardening, he was losing until he transit to grappling and ground game.
Eren ground game is all taught by annie. De la riva guard, single leg guard, triangle, inverted triangle arm bar etc.
Reiner had literally no ground game or grappling game.
none at all. I say this as someone whos pretty hardcore in mma/bjj. Reiner doesnt even know how to escape anything.
If beast titan start throwing things, annie would lose. But if annie fought beast titan up close hand2hand. Beast titan would lose.
Remember annie took eren jaw off with hardening?
All amateur see is annie harden his fist and threw a punch to eren jaw.
But what boxer,mma people truly see is annie waited to get eren timing right so she could time and throw a counter punch straight to the jaw.
In combat sports world thats beautiful and very precise. Very easily you can KO most people.

Maybe it wasnt erens skills that almost won the fight but his tenacity.
Reiner titan is kinda weird cuz its basically full body hardening but it isnt like annies hardening or later on erens hardening so I cant say how effective annies attacks would be.
Eren basically won by bending his armor to a breaking point,that's not something annies titan could do.
She is more agile and fast,not as agile as jaw titan but for sure more agile than erens,reiners or beast titan.
I am confident to say that she could dodge beast titan throws and in fact I can see her kicking rocks or similar towards him to close the distance.
In close combat she would easily cut off his legs and arms and then bash his head.
Kinda sad she didnt get much action after she was caught.
Vs jeagerists was kinda short and compared to eren and his army felt irrelevant at that point.
If hardening that the two of them use can be aplied on top of reiner hardening both eren and her would lose to him,beast titan prob too.
Also it was a weird moment though when annie beat eren the first time.
It felt like she didnt want to do it,didnt want to fight or harm anyone rather than her waiting for a perfect moment to strike.

I Actually Have a Black Belt In Judo and this Was My Favorite submission I used to use a lot.
AOT does such a stellar job of creating strong female characters without it being cringe or unrealistic with details like this.

Honestly, she slams him HARD too. He legs are WAY up in the air, and the first pint of impact wit the ground is his upper back and shoulders. That would knock most people out cold alone

Guys youre not gonna believe it, thank you so much for this video this save me today and who knows if it even saved my life, I am biologically a female so it is better to use these movements and not just punch, today a classmate follow me and started to choke me, somehow I free myself (he was choking me with just his hands so it was pretty easy) And I applied this movement, clumsily but efficiently, and I almost knocked him out so I could run away, i thanked you because I began to study this movement in depth bc this video appeared in my fyp.
I'm a trans man (just like i said it means that I am biologically a female) and this classmate is transphobic (he has said just lightly transphobic things in the past, but while he was choking me he said straight up derogatory things about my gender identity) so thats why he did it, I don't want to know what his real intention was, again, thank you so much guys.

I dont think she was actually choking him, if you look at the force she used to slam into the ground, he more than likely got the wind knocked out of him and he was gasping to try and regain it while having an arm partially around his neck.

There are several points in the series where they use actual judo techniques (certainly others too but that's what I know), even as titans. Heck that was Eren's first breakthrough when fighting Reiner as the armored titan.
