- The Stihl MS 462 is Stihl's lates high tech chainsaw that is supposed to replace the Stihl 441 & 461. It is also the competitor of the Husqvarna 572 XP. It only weighs 6kg, comes with 72,2cm3 and has 6hp. We put it to the test to see if it lives up to its reputation. We made a review of the Husqvarna 572 XP as well which you can find here: • Breaking Down the Husq...

I love it when you two get together to share information about something with us! Thanks
I was drawn to this channel originally because of the video of making a clamp, in the woods, to sharpen your chain saw. Love the farming content also and it is good to see your brother back and making lumber jack videos again. Thank you
Yes, it has been a while, but now he is back!!!
Saw Tim breaking down a tree next to a house, that was great ;)
Cool guy!
rlund3 that was my first video too haha operated my first chainsaw 2weeks ago ms261cm
no privacy my dad has a 023 laying around too. still works fine
I enjoy my stihlL 462 with a lite bar 28*, “ perfect. “ It was made for lite bars. At first got use to it. Had a 460, 461, now praise the Lord for thy StihL 462 “ 🙏 “
Love mine!! 25" & 28" light bars work great! WCS bark box, 3 pt dawgs,& the updated uni filter...beast!
Antisemite
I love how Stihl chain saws start when it's -25 below zero.
I love how Stihl chainsaws start where I never have to deal with -25 below
I moved from Montana 4 years ago , my last winter there dropped to -45 and everyone uses Husqvarna.
I prefer stihl myself.
In the nwt Canada we get these things going around minus 30 Celsius. Thin the bar oil with kerosene and leave the saw under your snowmobiles exhaust to warm it up.
Love watching your brother working in your forest, he is truly an artist with a chain saw.
Ear and face protection. Gloves. Helmet. Chaps. All the protection that is needed. I'm impressed.
We don't always see proper PPE in demos, do we? However, I'm pretty sure that here in the States you need eye protection even if you are using the face shield.
So tempting, thank you so much for making this video. Last winter I was felling many smaller trees with my 435eii, largest ones being 70 ft but started running into larger trees (in terms of dbh). The saw while great for limbing shows some weakness and it takes quite longer than it should to buck up trees on the ground. Probably just doing more than it was designed to, a tank of gas won't even last half a tree for me haha.
I have the 261 CM , I love it also, I was hesitating about the electronic models but so far so good! Thanks for the review!
Loved how Tim cut one-handed with a 24 inch bar almost like he was cutting a stick of butter. Impressive saw and operator! Thanks for the video.
Yes the forrest season has begun on the Swedish Homestead,
Really liked it, thanks for the review, only that price (1500,-)...
Tim thanks for showing how a professional is using a chainsaw efficient and save.
That is Stihl’s recommended sales price. I am sure you could find noticably cheaper offers from dealers.
Great review, thanks guys. I just brought an MS362C and love it. Heaps of power and the weight it nice. Love these videos!
Very nice video, short and to the point. Simeon, your brother's opinion is very valuable, thanks for sharing and thanks for your brothers knowledge.
I know. It is good to have him back with his inside and experience.
I'm shopping for a new chainsaw, so this video was useful to me.
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to record and post it.
Not sure if it's just the way he cuts or if everyone does it but I like how clean he makes the trunk when limbing the branches. I feel like it makes it easy for cutting the trunk into sections.
Thanks for the review and for being clear and to the point. You hit on all the important facts all in less than 6 minutes. I can't tell you you many reviews I have watched where they waste a lot of time on absolutely nothing.
Brought myself a ms462c few days ago and I'm loving it and making light work of ringing up logs with the 20inch bar but yes uses alot of gas pretty quick
Thank you & your Brother for that very good Demo . I really like the way you share with us here in the USA 🇺🇸
Short & simple! Nice review guys!👍
Thanks for the review. Very interesting!
Another great video from the two brothers. From the Sierra Nevada mountains of California I would like to thank you two for making theses videos. I’m an occasional fir wood cutter and love my saws. I have been following your channel for along time now and always look forward to any videos you produce. I am in the market to replace my older 361 with this 462cm. Best wishes to all of your families
Jeff Gregorius
Thanks for the review. I have a couple MS 441's with 36" bars and an 070 with a 48" bar here in Liberia. With the long bars, weight and balance are real issues. I'm planning to sell the 070 and get a smaller model with a 20" bar for limbs and smaller trees. Hopefully that will help save my arms and back!
Stihl makes a 24” light bar as well. Awesome saw.
Already more info in the first minute than some ten minute videos, good review guys thanks
Looks a great saw! I have the 362c. I love it!
Does this saw have the fast idle like the 562 Husqvarna?
You guys did a great job with the review of this saw! It would be fun to test how it performs next to the 572. Great job! Thanks for taking the time.
sumbscribe me ??
Had to watch your video, most likely to get one. I’m old school, adjustment I must make is getting a lite bar. Fantastic way to maneuver with a chainsaw. Thank you 🙏
Watching a professional use tools as designed is a beautiful thing.
Really enjoyed your review I own an older 025 & a farm boss. Wanted to upgrade to the,361 but that saw seems faster response.
Gentlemen, that was a very professionally done video!
I especially enjoyed it because recently a large tree limb fell in my urban yard, and I'll need to rent a saw to deal with it. Of course, I will search your channel (and others) for tutorials and tips before using a chainsaw the first time.
It's great to see how your channel is evolving and the level of your videos improves over time.
As allways - pleasure to watch.
ive been contemplating this saw now as something a little more powerful than my 361. cant wait for the husky review
Most important feature of any chainsaw? A sharp chain
Brian JOnker A freezer
Sharp chain, clean air filter, fresh mix
Actually the most important feature of any chainsaw is that it runs!!!! my new stihl never ran! what garbage!!!!
Nope... the guy behind the handle:)
I worked for the local dealer 25yrs ago. We sold stihl jonsered and husqvarna. By far stihl products were the best and still are. Never have any problems my 044 is 25yrs old and still going strong. I have ms044, ms180, fs450 brush saw and fs40 trimmer. Love them all hoping to get 2 more saws in the future.
Really liked it. Made me want one.
Nice review! I liked the throttle response comparison
I like your reviews . Straight too the point . I use a 461 with 28 es light bar . I cut a lot of large hard maple / oak etc . I actually use less fuel now than with smaller saws . 461 is fast and powerful saving time also . Not sure about that cover for breather and computer on 462 . Time will tell .
Great review - just ordered one a few weeks ago.
Awesome video gentleman God bless you and your beautiful families 😇👍👍👍🙏❣️
Passar oregon svärden på stihlsågarna utan nån om ändring?
Damn, I want one!
I was quite happy with my old 365SP until the other day when I used a 462..
It's weird, with one in each hand they feel the same weight (365 - 20" solid bar, 462 - 24" ES light). But in use the 462 felt feather weight, really, really nice.
This video was key to selling me on this saw as a bigger felling saw. Going to miss these reviews once you move away from the farmstead :(
Great video. Good to have you guys back.
I have the 461 mag,and I love it,I had the 660 mag,and it was great but really heavy
what oil do you use in the mixture
You tested this new chainsaw for a wide audience and I would expect them to gift you with it. You have done them a great service and deserve some compensation.
We give it back to the local dealer tomorrow.
are so happy with this chainsaw🙌🏻
I still run an MS 440. Powerful saws!
I was going to get a 440 but instead decided on getting a newer was and got the 400, never powerful with the magnesium position 👍
Great stuff Guys. I love to see the Pros in action.
Great video! Thank you so much!
I use a 24'' bar on my MS661c and that combo has perfect balance. So the 20'' bar on this saw is probably also perfect.
Well I'm a husqvarna guy I've always been. I just got the stihl ms 362c for christmas, it wasnt on my christmas list but still a little surprised. I havent played with it yet but just by the weight and balance alone compared to my other saws especially the trigger response I'm starting to like it a little more than my Huskies. But we shall see how it does out in the timber field.
Great video. I had the Stihl 361 and loved it. But after seeing this video, I think if I were looking for a saw, I'd check the Stihl 462 out first if it's similar in weight. 😎👍
So is there a 70cc saw that wont handel a 24inch bar or a 28-32 inch bar?
Nice saw, im really looking forward to the new ms 500i.
I am so glad they made the side cover nuts stay on, awesome upgrade
How much
Can i know the size of piston ring of ms 462? And will the piston ring of ms 381 of 52mm fit as the piston ring of ms 462?
Wow that's nice man can't wait to get my hands on one
Looking forward to
The Husqvarna review, very much I am a Husqvarna man myself for the last 30 years , never did I have a problem so far , so it will
Be interesting to see the verdict from yourself 🐸👍🇫🇷🇮🇪
I like the way you set up your shots. Just got a ms 462c. Thinking I want to put a bark box on it. Any suggestions?
Great job comparison
Thank you for your your great videos!
I been playing around with getting a 661 or a 660 , but this my be a contender with a full wrap handle , some west coast dogs and a high flow air filter , would probably add a suga bar also.
Easier to handle than your other two options.
For Q&A: Why is sometimes a skip chain used? For what lengths of bar?
Hi. Great Video. I love the forestry Videos with Tim!
If I would not have bought a Husqvarna 390 xp last year, the MS 462 would be a great option.
Only thing is that i am not yet 100% convinced is that Software in a Saw is a good idea in the long term. I think that in case something fails in some years diagnosis would be only possible with a laptop and the repair would be expansive. But i am having a Volvo 940 from 1994 as a daily driver, so maybe i am not the reference here.... ;-)
I have the 461.. now thinking of getting the 462..
Simeon....It`s bin a will since I spoke here but I always watch your video`s.....there always Profesional and good content....like your brothers interaction and also like these videos......CHEERS
Love ure films! Great recording!
Tell your brother it's ok to smile once in awhile :) , great review , I noticed it has a compression release and it seemed to pull easier than some .
We just smile a couple of times in our lives in Scandinavia. We try to make it count.
I have the 90cc 064av stihl with 24" bar, and cut for a while with the ms462c, and couldn't believe how much lighter the 462c felt when compared to my 064av!
Excellent review. Love stihl saws always have always will.
I learn something every time I watch Tim cut wood. I know lots of folks like the cows & chickens, but you could do just fine with "Swedish Chainsawing".
Nice...it floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee to quote an American boxer. Thanks, Simeon. I have a lot of respect for Stihl's products and German engineering as a whole.
Thank you, a German in Sweden telling an American (me) which saw is Better : Swedish vs German !!
😂😂😂😂😂
He hasn't said which one is better yet.
Nice Video! Thanks for the feedback!
Tool to access the air filter? Am I seeing that right?
Salutăm! Am si eu un Sthiil 251 sunt mulțumit de ea ! Exista un sistem mai simplu de ascutite a lanțului adica un sistem care se atașează pe lama si presat in ceva se ascute lanțul ?? Multumesc mult !
I hope we can get both saws in the US. I have several European models of Husky and love them.
Very cool review. Use Stihl products! Always wanted a 441 haven't justified one yet though for working around the place.
I have 460 Magnum with a 32" bar & chain it gets the job done.
Currently rocking a Husqvarna 460 for my tree business. I really want something wicked for those big Carolina pines. I’m thinking 85cc or larger.
Thoughts on this saw with a 28” bar?
I don’t care what they say the sthl 461 is a fricken beast
William Bentzen 461 is the best saw iv ever owned. Just bought a 462 and I’m not impressed at all
@@Andrew-uh7bv I'd be really interested to hear what you don't like about the 462 in comparison to the 461? I'm kind of in the market and there are some 461s around.
We have the ms462 non m-tronic and had it professionally ported. It would blow this saw away but. If you took a ms461 and did the same work the 462 had done the 461 would blow the 462 away. This is not an opinion it's a fact.
Does the job efficiently, feels sturdy. The best I have found for the price.
Thanks. My MS 391 just went down hard and I'm looking at the 462 as an upgrade. I was pushing the limits of the 391 with a 25" bar, so it's nice to see this one did well.
Great video guys love that saw I have been try to figure out when it coming to Canada for a couple months now.
Keep watching.

i heard June or July for CAN,and US,
Hi, interesting and nice review. I want say only one thing.... I've used some saw and i can say that Dolmar 7900, already 15-20 years ago had the best power weight ratio: 6,3 Hp for 6,1 kg 1,3 kg for KW.... I've Husky 562 xp and is the same weight...... only the size change... Dolmar is more fat and little less handly.... but use an 79cc with 6,3 HP with the same weight of a 59,8 cc mean that Dolmar have done a big project already 15 or more years ago.... Yes Sthil 462 is good product have a good power weight ratio but for who have know Dolmar 7900, don't is absolute novelty. Compliments to Sthil for compacting the body machine... But the big step will done from Sthil with the MS500 that will surpass the record held since today from DOLMAR 7900.... seams that will be the same weight of 462 but with 80CC engine and 6,8 HP that mean 1,24 KW for kg. versus 1,3 Kw for kg. held from 7900. thanks again for the review!!!
Does the 562 cm have a magnesium crankcase?
Excellent review thanks
Hey Guys. Good video. Do you have a favorite top handle saw? I do a lot of elevated work/climbing and looking to replace an old Echo (which are toys BTW)
Love the review!
I can’t believe how little the dawgs are on that large of a saw. They’re way too small. Good news is it’s a cheap and easy fix. Looks like a really nice tool.
probably its becouse you are from US. Stihl saws are generaly made for European style of falling, bucking and limbing thats why the dawgs are cheap to replace. for US market theres also full wrap handle option.
I have both Stihl and Husky. I have my biases to both. A lot of hours.
Great videos men I have a ms 390 and have it eight years was looking to move up to a bigger and new saw and found your video very helpful thanks. Dave. And may the force be with you. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you both.
love the filming
Put a 20 inch bar on any big saw, it always looks good, even if it's dull.
Excellent review guys! Didn't expect actually that. I've heard it's a well balanced saw and strong as well. Can't wait to get in my hands!!! Well done. Greetings from Greece
O parere dintre stihl.ms 462 si husq572xp pe care o recomandati . Multumesc frumos
I'm going to put the order in today oh, hopefully I can get the heated handle here in the United State
I would like you to do a video on adjusting the chainsaws - engine wise that is.
