well they are shooting to be the first to make 3k hp on a chassis dyno. and this was a old backup engine from like 2 years ago. and the block wasnt as strong either.
funny, it was the block that failed, the block blew apart right above the crankshaft and all the piston heads were gone, only the rods connected to the shaft were left

That piston that landed right next to you... brings back memories of Tipton, Indiana last year when I was filming the Hammered tractor and it blew like that and pistons rained from the sky. Crazy! I hope they let you keep it. Lol

You would think they would have a chain link fence cage or somthing over the front half of the dyno for events where your pushing the limit like this to minimize shrapnel flying at spectators
Diesels don't have rich/lean in the same way gassers do... More like the turbo(s) fully spooled and it was fully burning all the fuel being injected. Black smoke generally means you don't have enough air for the fuel being injected.
The dude with the multi tool waited his whole life for a moment like that.

These diesel dyno runs always seem to end in explosions. The blocks just aren't meant to handle hundreds of pounds of boost
